He was better for about one second. Yeah yeah yeah "that's all it takes", but it doesn't excuse that he was not better through most of the fight. Why not finish it in the begging? the second round maybe? Because he couldn't Nothing against JDM-- I think he's great. I just don't like how MMA is seen after following it since UFC 2, and calling what these guys should do quicker and somewhat better than the commentators, coaches and even some fighters... the first twenty years or so. It sucks to see somebody with the edge that long have it turned around in the end, with even JDM knowing that's not always going to go that way. That was a difference of about two inches, which even the best strikers sometimes miss. JDM will learn form this though and be even tougher to beat from now on... it's guys like Burns that at 37 years old are helping the people just reaching their peak, learn to be even better. Cuz without that knee... Gilbert could STILL be working him over. Without rounds, it often gets tougher and tougher to get away from the one who dominates the ground in the beginning.

I swear it's the best in the UFC... It has to be.. People will say DP which I get, but DP swings for the fences and he isn't as good as JDM with head movement, footwork, and countering. I've really yet to see someone who has as slick of boxing as JDM does.... I'm only talking about pure boxing. Striking, O'malley has to be the best right now, followed by poaton and people are going to think I'm insane, but maybe Islam. Islam has such clean technique and he throws that roundhouse kick so effortlessly.
