This song made me tear up when I first heard it when it was released and I was just over 6 years old and over 48 years later it still has the same affect on me. Beautiful song, tragically sad but an honest reflection of life for many people. Share the love people! Loved your reaction Faith _@Off Tap Life_ your sensitivity and empathy really shone through. For anyone who is interested this is the story behind the song. *GILBERT O`SULLIVAN tells the TRUE story of ALONE AGAIN (Naturally)* - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hb5IU72enEw.html
You have to listen to a song, many times to absorb it. This song is every person's life - that's why everyone can identify with it and feel it in their soul. But at the same time, the music is happy- as no matter what happens remember life is good and we are blessed, is the point I get from it.
Wow, your words were very deep, especially when you said that one can be surrounded by lots of people but be the loneliest person in the world. Excellent reaction to music from my childhood.
Gilbert O'Sullivan, "Alone Again, Naturally" I remember this saw was up there for song of year on New Year's Eve Radio Show that year. Great Song and Reaction...
..... We always have to remember when it was composed ......70's ........ the inspirations were different ......... however ..... ...... the music is simply beautiful .......... the power music is in it ........ emotion ........ Top of the US charts for 6 months .............
Gilbert is brilliant. He said in an interview,...This had nothing to do with him.He simply put himself in the position of a person who feels this way,..and the lyrics Came. That is a genius song writer. This one touches me every time.Great reaction...Thank you...
Gilbert O'Sullivan in an interview, said this song was not about his life. It was just an idea that he came up with and wrote. "Alone Again (Naturally)" is an introspective ballad, starting with the singer contemplating suicide after being left at the altar after his bride deserted him, and then telling about the death of his parents. O'Sullivan has said that the song is not autobiographical, as he did not know his father (who died when O'Sullivan was 11) very well, and that his father had mistreated his mother. Also, his mother was still alive when the song was written.
This song is a prime example of a clinical depressed person. They show the signs but mask them behind a façade that from the outside seems "cheerful" or happy. Also, a great reminder to listen to your friends and love ones when they're talking.
Wow Faith, what a great reaction! I was digging through your older videos and found this. I had some high points in my life, but I've always thought of this song as my life's theme song because the loneliness just keeps coming back. And I've taken your advice and reached out for help, but therapists and pills don't help me find friends. I'm still alone. Thanks for the talk, though, and I hope the song wasn't too hard for you.
You missed a whole lot of lines before that line about God. While you were enjoying the beat, he was talking about throwing himself off of a tower b ecause he got stood up by his bride.
“ I promise myself to treat myself and visit a nearby tower and climbing to the top would throw myself off’. You then stop the song.and said it was a happy song. Huh? Next time you listen to that song read the lyrics to it
Hi. Even when he said his life was shattered you still thought it was a happy song until reality struck. If you want the complete OPPOSITE from Gilbert please watch "Clair" the video where it says "and Clair talks back", It is about him playing innocently with his very young GodDaughter: Clair who he looked after as "rent" as he lived with his Manager:Gordon Mills and Clair was his Daughter..
In the beginning you bopped your head thinking this was a happy beat and i thought "wait till she hears the lyrics" and you did hear them and everything changed and i love..love your reaction. Im new to your channel and im seeing what a beautiful soul you have.💖💞 Have you reacted to any Janis Joplin yet? If not would you consider reacting to Little Girl Blue and Maybe (both live if possible) blues/rock singer..Thank you
Or loosing your best friend who was more like a MOTHER when for 20 years your actual mom treated you as a burden like you were less than and then someone comes into your life for 27 years and than on February 28 2016. She’ passed away it’s been 5 years and yes i remember like it was yesterday ALONE AGAIN NATURALLY
When you edited this song you've perhaps paid better attention to the first verse. All the lyrics belie the cheerfulness of this songs music. "What do we do? What do we do".
You know you shouldn't break the continuity of the song so that you get the full impact it. Give a full reaction after you've listened to the whole song. Bits and pieces don't do a song justice.
COMMENT 1 One other (def. not comical) Gilbert track I recommend to people is this...the song which could be about an ex-lover or an ex-manager ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hrD0DtHIrP0.html Also for some reason I was also reminded of this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PJNNJuy4xK4.html (you'll need the metrolyrics page) COMMENT 2 It took awhile for Faith to catch on, even though this is a song which begins with the protagonist contemplating suicide. Of course when it gets past the aborted marriage to the backdrop-events, i.e family bereavement...that's where this writer fails to comprehend.
i loved this reaction, the way it hit you harder and harder as it went on. You look like a great person, the type I'd love talking to on acid or something. Peace and Love!
You need to actually listen to the words. It’s all right there. You’re dismissing them because you’re bee-bopping to the tune. This is one of the saddest songs recorded.
