This guy wasn't actually doing anything illegal as far as I can tell. The cages were wire and kept in a shed, therefore they had shelter, and urine an feces could not have remained in the cage. There was no mention of injuries or poor condition of the rabbits themselves, they would most certainly have said if there were injured rabbits, so I think I can safely conclude that none of his rabbits had sore hocks or anything of that like. Dimly lit is really no issue for an animal that is crepuscular, in fact they prefer it. Honestly I can't find anything in their allegations that warrants having his rabbits effectively stolen from him. All of the rabbits in this video seemed perfectly healthy and well kept. So from what is shown and mentioned in the video, I can see no reason for his rabbits to have been taken from him.
Are you kidding? Wire cages HURT rabbits feet & those cages look absolutely disgusting at 1:50, with no light. We don't need more rabbits to 'sell' , and this man needs a old folks home and some medication for his ticks. All the rabbits your seeing are probably the ones they could save and got them medical attention and proper food.
@@scottymathieson9529 I never said that I _approve_ of the way the rabbits were kept, just that it wasn't technically illegal as far as I can tell from this video. And when organizations such as this one make a rescue, especially one of this scale, they usually make a point to mention all of the injuries suffered by the animals involved. There's nothing wrong with selling or breeding rabbits. They are a food animal. You cannot have an overpopulation of a food animal.
@Kat Builds Wire cages aren't generally considered cruel as far as the law is concerned, so that doesn't really apply. The minimum size legally required for rabbit cages is small, not unlike battery hen cage requirements. So unless Arizona has its own specific laws that ban wire cages or require a larger cage than most laws require, it's still not illegal.
Wire cages are definitely illegal if there is no bedding or something supporting their feet they get awful sores that can turn into even worse infections .If you look more into the case you will find he was (unknowingly or not) selling many sick rabbits for meat or sick domestic rabbits. It is very hard to get seized by the humane society. This operation poisoned people and left domestic rabbits to suffer in illness in the homes of ther adopters
Domestic rabbits and butcher rabbits are very different. Just like you wouldn't call your golden retriever a coyote. There are lots of reputable sources for rabbit meat in Arizona.. It was his lack of care for the butcher rabbits, he has no regulations.. possiblity of disease, parasites, an aray of things. I think even if these were chickens someone should have stepped in given the conditions. Even the domestic rabbits also not kept in conditions considered humane by the law. It's very hard to get seized by the humane society He was selling sick domestic rabbits and unhealthy rabbit meat.
This angers me. Some people have no clue. You should take them to court and sue them for defamation nevermind that they will screw up your rabbits from stress and mess up your breeding program. Mine are New Zealand white and once they are out of the cage I wouldn't know one from the other. I hate overzealous dogooder city people. They can go eat computer chips!
@@patdbun338 The fact you can't tell one rabbit from another, said a lot really. Rabbits are very sensitive and express individual personalities. You clearly don't respect this in the animals. Rabbit breeding needs to be treated in the same way as puppy farming.

This is a HORRIBLE situation. These poor bunnies are suffering greatly. Stop looking at them as dispensable. They are sentient beings who deserve a healthy, safe, stimulating environment. Those of you who are saying this isn’t “illegal”, you’re missing the point. This is animal cruelty. Even so called “livestock” animals deserve a natural, healthy environment. And this man’s breeding operation is creating a cycle of suffering by overwhelming an already saturated market. There are innumerable rabbits who already need homes, who are deprived of that every time someone buys a rabbit from him. Breeding rabbits also encourages people to impulse buy a cute little bunny with no idea what kind of care they need, how expensive and destructive they can be, and the living space they require. They should be cage free, while roaming space should be a large room. Their food is not cheap by a long shot either. Most people can’t provide all that and are poor candidates to keep a rabbit. And once these “impulse owners” realize that bunnies are not the equivalent of a living plush animal, they neglect them or dump them. Anyways, the result is that the rabbits suffer incredibly, and this ugly cruel man profits from it. Sick, sick inhuman being.

You can only keep so many Livestock in a "Residential HOME". If you want to Farm livestock you need a "legal " Farm/ Industrial LOCATION . please learn about ZONEING LAWS!. Side note: I love my Rabbit meat .

Im a "Right Winger" and Im against this treatment of a God -Given living being! I don't agree with eating ANY animal God has notvdeemed edible duch as bunnies! I also do not agree that anyone should be allowed to murder their unborn or born children through abortion or any means! As far as the biblicly edible animals"Clean" such as cows , chicken and Fish with scales,etc, we should treat ALL living beings with kindness, a wonderful life. Once it's time to fulfill their duty for consumption they should be taken where there is no smell of blood, sounds of death, etc and quickly, thankfully and as humanely as possible kill for food. Then thank God.
I've met this guy and have purchased Rex, Silver Fox, and Cinnamon bunnies from him. Rabbit urine is smell you're going to have, but keeps the cages regularly cleaned out. They did not watch this guy handle his bunnies. He's really gentle with them. And just replaced a few of his cages that were getting calcium deposits. There are people that put rabbits in horrible conditions, but this guy isn't one of them.
@@thetechfella1 thanks for the kind words that guy that got his rabbits took from him is my grandpa and ya he takes excellent care of them he just doesn't have enough time in the day to clean all the cages spotless ya know but other than that none were treated cruelly or mistreated at all its just a load of crap that people are talking about
he doesn't eat all of them most of them he just sells and breeds them and the conditions were not as good as they should have been but hes a 70 year old man that doesn't have as much time in the day to clean all the rabbit cages but thats really the only bad thing about it cause he takes excellent care of all of them

In the wild they would get infected by contagious rabbit diseases , be covered with flees & mites , mother eaten by snake when still breast feeding , have to forage alone constantly in fear of dangers and eventually get eaten slowly & horribly by a pair of COYOTES.
This man has no idea what he was doing! This was horrific! I do hope that charges will ensue to show others of his ilk that this will not be tolerated. To call any bunny a Meat Rabbit is disgusting! This isn't China!
Domestic rabbits came to the US from Europe for two reasons: Meat and Fur. The US bunny fur trade is over, and now they are mostly used as pets (in the US), but most breeds have and were selectively bred for that express purpose. You may not raise them for that anymore, but denying it does/has happened is simply ignorance of rabbit heritage. Jed is a nice, religious, down to earth man. I've met him and talked with him. He's raised bunnies growing up and started raising them again a few years ago. He's much more aware of the nuance of bunny care than most people. I've seen his grandchildren come by and to learn from him as he talks about the different breeds he has, how to treat sick does or nestbox eye, &c. There are people that just see their stock as meat machines and keep them in terrible conditions, but he's not one of them.
