The fact that he went to hunt 5 dragon gods despite not being a dragon slayer is insane. I'm glad Mashima didn't go for an absurd plot where he miraculously finished it. He's also a genius to use that same quest as a plot for the sequel.
Teleportation magic seems to be a rare commodity in FT, with I believe Mest being the only character I can think of off the to of my head to have natural teleportation magic
someone like irene can remade the town so that gildarts can go inside fairy tail from the town entrance, and then remade it back. If irene can do it, then wendy can do that too. Although idk if she had enough magic power.
“I guess this guy is the KING of breaking stuff” The fact that the town needs to shift around to prevent the destruction of buildings only drives that point home further
To tell the probably Truth, Gildarts can Do the 100 Year Quest if he did not meet acnologia, after All Acnologia is a DRAGON SLAYER who Became a dragon itself, unlike those dragons in the hundred year quest, Acnologia is out of their league
I just love the familial presence the guild has. Gildarts may be a deadbeat dad with Cana, though he does try to remedy this, but it’s clear he loves his guild and respects makarov one hundred percent.
Regardless of his similar-looking anime counterparts, they did an amazing job of establishing him in a show that made you expect so much out of a world, then put it into one character as a basis.
3:04 Natsu: *looks ready to fight after Gildarts walks in* "Come on you old geezer, let's throw down!" Elfman: "That's no way to treat a man!" Lol! That part makes me laugh everytime!
@@SparkyMan12 No that doesn't count his magic became UNDTABLE after that he couldn't control troll his magic any more so ya he need the dragon slayers but natsu and the other dragon slayers manage to break free.
I quit Fairy, So I was informed by a Friend. They aren't stronger than him, they hid themselves from Achnologia in order to survive. Achnologia was always in the hunt for Dragons. But he was just roaming the earth because he was bored. As well as hunt down any Dragon and Dragon Slayers that he could sense. That's why he was able to find Tenrou Island and Fairy Tail in the Tartarus Arc. Guildarts quest was supposed to take down Achnologia.
The thing is the Dragon Gods were weaker than Acnologia due to Acnologia weakening all dragons. The Dragon Gods were hiding to get powerful and defeat Acnologia even in their weakened state. But since they never challenged him it's fair to say they never hit that level. Gildarts very possibly could have defeated the Dragon Gods when Acnologia was alive. But he ended the quest after meeting Acnologia.
Now I really can't wait for this Arc to get animated, because now I want to see when my childhood Fairytail Weekly Shonen Magazine Series do this Quest.
@@inevitable2531 hopefully you don't mind spoilers since you're asking about the end of the story but just in case spoilers ahead gildarts went on a quest regarding acnologia who was basically the final boss (other than zeref) zeref pretty much considered acnologia to be his only threat (other than natsu) but if gildarts was powerful enough to beat acnologia then he would for sure be a threat to zeref, which would basically mean that there was no need to develop any of the other characters to progress the story there's a lot of other details involving the consequences of gildarts slaying acnologia but basically the story would be cut dramatically short since most of the plot involves finding and slaying acnologia and zeref
@@RawrFishAE The 100 year quest was not about Acnologia though, if I'm not wrong. It's about defeating the dragon gods, which indeed were supposed to be weaker than Acnologia. But since Acnologia's goal is also to kill all dragons in the world, that's why they crossed path at one point, but I don't seem to understand why Acnologia would want to fight Gildarts, seeing as he's not a dragon slayer nor a dragon. My conclusion is that Gildarts was the one who initiated, because he must have known Acnologia was hunting dragon slayers too, aka Natsu being part. Now that we got the sequel, Mashima of course made that quest appear harder than it is. It should normally be easier, since Natsu defeated Acnologia.
@@natman2939 Stronger to Natsu in the beginning of Fairy Tail yes, but after the time skip arc where Natsu trained with Igneel and after he got the power of E.N.D and dragon slayers altogether as one, he managed to defeat Acnologia. I'm unsure what is Natsu's strength in the sequel since I didn't read it, but imo if they are allowed to take the quest, then his strength must be on par with Gildarts or stronger. Makarov(guildmaster) would never allow them to go if they were not strong enough.
No, the quest was killing the 5 Dragon Gods. But he effed up by attacking Acnologia who is even stronger, because he thought Acnologia was one of them.
So... Gildarts wasn't able to finish the quest because he encounters Acnologia and nearly killed him, but I'm pretty sure he could at least have taken the water god from what we have seen in the 100-year quest arc
When your so OP that Acnologia used his full power. And I'm not talking about when Natsu and the other dragonslayer's went against him. That was obviously not Acnologia's full power. And honestly, if it wasn't for plot, Gildarts would've won when he went against him.
@@nighthawk72j80 On tenrou island Gildarts said it wasn't even half the power it used when he fought him. Meaning, not only did Gildarts make Acnologia use half his power, it MIGHT have used ALL his power. But that part is just a theory.
the ARROWS on the ground are just the best part - you'd think there would be no other way to go but apparently they're necessary XDD He's not only shanks, but zoro too
@@Vision-lz4ru ok, I looked it up and the reason Gildarts looks so much like Shanks is to pay homage to Oda, who the creator of Fairy Tail was once an assistant for, and that working with Oda is why Fairy Tail's creator was able to make their own series so successful. duniagames.co.id/discover/article/shanks-dan-gildarts-kok-bisa-mirip-sih-ternyata-inilah-alasannya/en
Wait weren't they called 100 year quests, because nobody could complete them in the least 100 years. So they don't take that long too compete, but in over 100 years nobody was able to compete one (same with 10 year quests). I hope I could make my point clear, sometimes it's really difficult to do that in English.
I love Guildarts, I mean what’s not to love? 1. He is the strongest member of the guild at that point in time (maybe now arguably) 2. He is a father figure to nearly everyone in the guild, especially Natsu. 3. He is the biological father of one of the sexiest women in the show (fight me, I said one of) 4. The dude fought the DRAGON DESTINED TO DESTROY THE WORLD! That dragon is immune to all magic, immortal by most means, and took every single guild in the country and beyond and even a literal wormhole in time to defeat. And while he barely made it back alive minus an arm, leg, and internal damage. Btw, I think I know a good auto mail mechanic for him 😉 5. His magic destroys everything in his way, so a lot of potential there alone. 6. He isn’t just the single person to make the Fairy Tail series worth checking out. As many have said, Fairy Tail doesn’t have a set main protagonist, the guild itself is the main character and everyone in it is just as engaging as the world itself. This show helped me in some rough times because it made me feel like a member of Fairy Tail, and I know I’m not alone in that fact. From the world building to the magic, the characters, even the goddamned building feel alive and you want to live in this world and be a part of this family. You laugh and cry with them, you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself. Not many anime or manga do this. This will always be my favorite anime even if I forgot where I left off and stopped watching as a result. It has filler, but this is filler that’s actually good and doesn’t happen often. You still are engaged from beginning to end. I have three of the OPs and the main theme and Natsu’s them, and they always bring a smile to my face. This show is one of the inspirations for me to start a creative writing hobby. I have a fanfic on WattPad if you’re interested, it’s called “Zach: Guardian of the Multiverse”. Before you cringe, it’s not one of *those* fanfics (if you know, you know), it’s one I’ve actually put a ton of effort and passion into as its from a world I go to when I’m alone in my head, my happy place if you will. Fairy Tail is just one of the many worlds visited and I try my best to make everything cohesive, but I’m not perfect so some feedback is appreciated. It currently has over 20 chapters and I’ve been working on it off and on for several years now. I would love it if you would check it out. Where was I? Oh yeah, One piece is incredible! Wait a minute. . .
@LeftOverSteak that's not true btw. The manga actually has him looking different with blonde hair. And they look nothing alike in the final season lol
@havemotherwilltrade his stronger then Makarov coz he was struggling against the strongest guy in there country and gildarts one punched him and nearly beat august
When we find out what the Century Quest was, it makes sense Gildarts gave up. Killing the strongest dragons in the world would certainly be a _challenge._
