It came today! Love it. It was pretty clean, but of course, I thoroughly cleaned it, gave it a slight buff, sanitized it and repainted the numbers. Sure was worth the $19 and shipping. So mild on 3. Seems hard to even nick yourself with it. Used my FINE Italian Citrus Soap and Aftershave that came today too.
I picked one of these up in like new condition, still in original box, from a flea market for $25. I just wish someone would buy the patent and start manufacturing them again. The Gillette Slim Adjustable is probably one of the best razors the world has ever seen, second only to the Gillette Fat Boy. As much as I love my Futur and Progress, the Slim is honestly better than any of its competitors.
The patent on the Slim ran out years ago. The real issue is really you need more than the blueprint to make them. The Rockwell model T is basically a reproduction of the slim and they keep running into quality control issue.
Jedi Master this was actually a razor that I tried much later on in my wet shaving Hobby and I really wish it was the first one I used I mean what a fantastic razor
This is my go to razor for both face and head shaves. The one I have belonged to my wife's Grandfather. We found it buried in his house somewhere long after he had passed. Great razor and great video!
I appreciate your effort. Have you considered offering your videos WITHOUT music? I seems as if your are laboring under challenges recording conditions. However, not hearing any audible feedback from such a vintage razor, deprives all viewers from optimal enjoyment. Take care & Thanks.
The fat boy and the slim in my opinion are very similar in performance it really comes down to preference on handling, some people like the slim because it's lighter and it can get under your nose a little bit easier. Other people who have big hands like myself tend to like The fat boy, I can go either way but I understand both sides of the coin
Within my dozen-plus accumulation of vintage razors, I have a Slim black baseplate and a silver baseplate. Both in as-new condition & both provide excellent shaves. I've never found it necessary to crank either up to near max aggressiveness to get a BBT shave & never needed more than 3 passes to do it. Notice how red you skin is over the just-shaved areas. Maybe an overly aggressive shave isn't really needed to get outstanding results, especially with multiple passes?
I have found the passes to be needed for me, although i have switched to straight razor for the face... and knocked down to one cross grain... get awesome results with that. But the same passes for my head, except i do omit a cross grain now and again
Single shave pass: Morning when skin is well rested and oily, Hot towel on face, pull skin with hand, shave against grain rinsing blade in hot water regularly. Done deal.
Nicholas Fanzo I don't like The Fat Boys much but only for one reason and that's because I can't get underneath my nose with it the head is a little bit too big everything else that she is really nice with it's a great razor to use on my head
I just picked one up today from an antique store for 25. I shave with a chrome Merkur safety, which is great but wanted to try one and add it to my collection. I have Valet, Gems, Everreadys, Rolls, and a number of Gillettes and am excited to finally add the adjustable to my collection. Hopefully, i will like the shave and will use it frequently.
@@CDShavinMurphy i have used it a few times now. I like the setting at 3, unless I do the first pass at a 5 then go back to 3. The second pass at 5 was too aggressive for my skin. I like how I can actually feel a difference between the settings, this surprised me. I will be using it frequently
Huh..yeah that's the one I got, cept the handle is in black, my grandpa used to use it and I think his dad before him so it's been passed down. I use it to keep my beard line and neck clean.
Hey Chad. I am new to your channel. I like the slim adjustable. Mine unfortunately has a slightly off blade gap, which makes it a little less comfortable to use. Btw, where are you located? I notice the bruins and Pats logos. I am in NH and huge Pats fan! I don't know too many wet shaving fans the way I am in my area.
chris ryan sorry that took so long to respond dude I am in Manchester New Hampshire and it's funny because your name sounds familiar I went to college with someone with that name
CD Shavin' Murphy 6 weeks and I love it ... I already have 4 Vintage Gillette razors and a new Edwin Jagger and a Weishi and a Wilkinson sword plastic razor ... RAD real bad lol not to mention the VDH brush you have and a new Semogue 1800 ... Help .
My go to razor at the moment with a Polsilver blade and find there is not much between the Fatboy or this razor. Good video though the loud guitar playing got a little annoying would prefer to hear comments as the clip went along.
The razors are the same except the head... for the most part that is. I love Pol Silver blades...music is just as wet shaving... subjective. Sounds cool to me... but to each their own in that regard.
It exposes the blade, at 1 its minimal blade exposure, 9 is obviously the max of blade exposure. But if it doesn’t seem like it’s doing anything, it might be broken
Not sure what year it is , as I’m still looking it up to find a match. It’s a odd shape hard plastic, clear flip top blue bottom, I’m torn if I should display it or use it. I’m happy with my old school Gillette. I should make a short RU-vid video to show it off
Yep great razor, went easy as its my first adjustable, middle of the road setting 4 with my go to astra blade. Damn fine shave not quite bbs. I'll crank up the volume as I get more familiar with it.
