Watched this set from a few rows back from the rail! Two guitars and two voices filled that giant tent and kept the audience in rapt attention.

That guy playing with Gilian Welch is David RAWLINGS her lifelong playing partner and one of the best musical instrumentalist and singer we will ever experience.

Any time a band/performer starts a festival show with their best song, you know the rest will be legendary. This is without a doubt the best Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch show ever. Thank you for posting in it's entirety. And to anyone stumbling upon the first few minutes, watch it all!

I've seen that with Dead Moon - best band I have seen in over 4 decades of seeing live music. (OK,I haven't seen Gillian and Dave live yet, mind!) Dead Moon were fronted by Fred Cole, who was in the Lollipop Shoppe back in the '60s... and the Lollipop Shoppe hit song "You Must Be A Witch" has been a staple on the setlist of every garage band ever since 1968, right, so when Dead Moon played a festival gig in 1990 or 1991, I figured that they would probably be some nostalgia act, saving up that one hit for the encore. Not so. They came on, a trio, drummer Andrew right up front, and Fred and his wife Toody on bass right up front too - in your face! And sure enough they had the nerve to start off with You Must Be A Witch - the crowd f***ing exploded! Thing was... like you said... the rest of the set was legendary, because every song was just as good (if not better), and they CHANGED MY LIFE there and then. With Gillian Welch, my story is less wild, but hey... all the same.... a fellow musician said 'listen to this' and after a couple of bars of 'Caleb Meyer' I knew I wanted to hear ALL the songs she EVER played. That's never changed. Cheers Gillian and Dave, you rule.

I'm happily married, but I love you Gillian. I'm straight as anything, but I love you Dave, - and I really envy your "no show-off but spot-on" playing. I'm flabbergasted by your pants but hey mr Jones, you are frigging cool nonetheless. There is so much JOY coming from this performance... it's so incredibly good, so fine, so... Ah well, you know what I mean. I hope :-)
