I personally like Gillian Walsh style of music writing I’ve also met her in person she’s a wonderful soul inside and out and I refuse to listen to any negativity about her or her music .
Ken Tucker's review is without doubt the most wrong-headed load of nonsense I've ever heard. All of Gillian's work is emotive, beautiful and it invariably repays many hearings over the years. I would have featured a segment from I Want to Sing That Rock'n'roll, which is perhaps their catchiest number ever. The genuine appreciative joy of the live audience in the Ryman Auditorium is there for all to hear. At this time I caught a promo gig they did at Borders in Providence, RI. They played beautifully, performing a selection of songs from the album for an audience of perhaps 30 people. David's family live nearby, and his aunties had brought along some cake and wine to celebrate his birthday! Dave and Gillian chatted warmly with us and I was left in no doubt whatever about their remarkable musical talents or their very genuine likeability. Their continued success is very well deserved indeed.
Ken Tucker is entitled to his opinion, but Time (The Revelator) is #348 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums list and was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Contemporary Folk Album category.
Absolute drivel nonsense. That person was hellbent on just bashing the album and iterating pretentious nonsense that has nothing to do with the music. Fantastic album. I'm a literal metal head and Gillian became my favorite artist period.
bla bla bla. pretentious garbage that has nothing to do with the music. Beautiful album with some of the most beautiful compositions i have ever heard.
