I hope Genn will be around a long while. Crazy to think he’s the last king still alive from the era before Lordaeron’s fall, he ruling Gilneas during the era of peace before Arthas was born.
Genn is finally getting some closure as much as one can after losing a child. I doubt he'll EVER forgive Sylvanas for what she did (and nobody would blame him), but to see him and Gilneas finally get to come home is so... meaningful. Gilneas stands tall once again!
And yet Tess is ready to feed his sense of guilt, blaming him for having ignored her when she wasn't even a character until Legion. Genn is far from his prime but still fit for the throne, this step down feels forced.
@@francescoporcari8597 Genn has been king for over 50 years; he was king back during the First War... which was 40ish years ago. He ain't in his prime. Was he the perfect father? Hardly. But I think Tess's outburst is easily explainable as a very emotional moment between father and daughter. He clearly doesn't bare any anger towards her for her words. But getting back to my point. Genn is NOT a young man anymore. He knows that his time on Azeroth is drawing to a close. It's time to pass down the weight of the crown.
I always found Gilneas and Genn interesting when it came to the lore, as he was the one who was the most guarded and defensive when it came to the events that unfolded around Azeroth. He only gave token support to the Alliance in the first place, and built a wall because he had the foresight to protect his people from very real threats; and to his credit Gilenas was the last Eastern Kingdom to fall to ruin. Stormwind, Lorderon, Dalaran, Stromgarde, and Alterac all fell before Gilenas did. Course Graymane's kingdom did fall in the end, and he was forced to lean on others that he spent many years rejecting. That he lived and all of his peers died meant that his wisdom did essentially win out and ended up being the man who would foster Anduin's growth as a king. For all that the man has been through Genn certainly could use a vacation at the very least. With all of the tragic figures in WoW it seems like he's the one who's the closet to having what could be considered a happy ending.
@@ВладиславШаклеин-ч7м Unless one of the 4 factions picked him up, I hope. Wow missed a great opportunity and have Liam appear somehow in the Shadowlands. Perhaps saving him from the Maw and have him help us defeat Sylvanas.
@@AnnaJo2000 There are WAY more than 4, those are just the largest. Still, Sylvanas has been working for the Jailer since after the fall of the Lich King, so there is a possibility that those slain by her go directly to the Maw. At which point there will be little left of them.
@@ВладиславШаклеин-ч7м Now Sylvanas has to free all the souls she put into the Maw. I hope when she finds Liam, he says: "You bitch" and punches her in the nose after she frees him. IF he's in the Maw that is.
Everyone has their home back. Families are reuniting. Trauma is being recognized. Old wounds are healing. Grievances are being acknowledged and taken accountability for. Help is being offered and then accepted. And I can keep going. Lmao.
Kinda wishing that instead of just reclaiming Gilneas for the Alliance in a short questline that rewards you with a Cosmetic Set, a Worgen-Only Hearthstone, a Mount, and a pair of infamous Ozzy Osbourne Glasses you can fish up: Gilneas would have opened up as this massive pre-patch style World Questing Zone where you can help out with the Gilneans in clearing out the remnants of The Scarlet Crusade that were lingering in the periphery of Gilneas proper or to help clear out the wildlife that had wandered into the abandoned settlements, or even helping out in rebuilding Duskhaven alongside Gwen Armstead and other residents of the region. There could even be several Rarespawns that could be found throughout the Zone that drops unique rewards, toys, Pets, and even Prince Liam Greymanes' prized Mount. There could even be a Meta Achievement tied into this Zone that rewards Players with a Gilnean Carriage Taxi Mount from Fiona: allowing Players to haul around not one or two players, but a group of *_TEN_* Players, and that like the Dragonflying Mounts, the Carriage could benefit from a Rostrum System where you can modify the Carriages' appearance and colors: open frame, closed frame, Revendreth or Suramar Style, even an option to display your collected Legendary Weapons on the Carriage itself.
Do most people really like Tess?? I thought she was just a subtlety rogue who helped out in Dalaran, even Mia was a more important character than her in that Elegy short story (she was the one who helped those night elf refugees and saved Finel), Mia should be regent of GIlneas if Genn steps down, not Tess necessarily. Besides, Tess isn't even a worgen, and I don't she even wants to become a monarch, really, and lose her own streak of independence....
It felt a bit forced, his abdication I mean. I know that he was weary and did mistakes in the past as king, he finally reclaimed Gilneas and Tess is the crown princess but still I think that Genn should have remained king. Tess doesn't seam to be particularly ready or willing and because Genn is a worgen I think he is still capable to reign and fight for many years to come. At least the old wolf maintains his position in the Alliance (witch in fact gives more reason for him to still have a kingdom to rule). Blizzard jut kills the old characters slowly because they don't know what to do with them. The same thing happened to Malfurion, Tyrande and Shandris (though there it didn't fell so forced), the passing of time does not equivalates to the passing of torch, I would have been very happy with the old characters maintaining their position indefinitely.
@@starbuild8324 and also a big issue to him abdicting.. what about the actual queen? She didnt agree to anything. Overall it seems more like he lets her be the effective ruler of the city but she is still just a princess. Instead there would have been some sort of ceremony. Genn stil remains the king this way, which is important when you are the advisor of the absolute leader of the alliance, himself a broken man after shadowlands. Still even then I REALLY despise that plot point. It's been DECADES in-universe since Liam died, and NOW he decides to be all mopey about it, and to leave his kingdom to his daughter which, I must remind, thought catching the worgen curse was a great idea? they did my boy genn dirty... Also I absolutely REFUSE to accept that the now supposed ruler of the worgens.. isnt even one.
@@thorveim1174 Very good points there. Now that I think about it it, with that on the spot decision and the lack of an official ceremony it really seamed like Tess will be just the ruler of the capital. Kinda like a mayor to give the young princess a little more official duties and authority in the realm with Genn remaining the king and de facto ruler of the kingdom. Though I know it is just one of the possible outcomes and Blizzard could screw up like many times before... Genn suddenly abdicating for such a bad motive really made my sad and outraged too. But your point of view definitely makes sense, so thank you for giving me some hope about it. I can only hope that this is also the case with Shandris, Malfurion and Tyrande.
This was.. truly lame to see. Forsaken helping Gilneas?... wtf? I was dumbfounded to see them in Gilneas after everything. Heritage armor looks dumb.... another suit... the mount.. like what? a fox? wtf? and, Genn is now not even a king? Tess is? don't get me wrong. I like Tess, but Genn had so much more to give. He just started getting his character development again.. I would've preferred Gilneans take the city by themselves, and Genn remain king until at least he confronts Sylvanas one last time. It's nice to have Gilneas back, but Blizzard has one lame and disappointing way of giving us back this amazing city. Sigh....
I have to assume the reason they didn't want her turning to worgen would be for her to be anduins wife, same reason they turned calia forsaken, because people wanted anduin to marry her
@@DarkMegaPlague The BE Rogue is actually Anduin's girlfriend XD Valeera Sanguinar? She's literally his trusted spy and bodyguard. Loyal only to him, not the Alliance.
If they had a cinematic in Shadowlands of Liam meeting up with Genn in the finale, that would have been awesome. Just have Liam tell Genn that he is ok, he is not in pain and was happy to see Genn again. It would have given Genn closure. But hey, what do I know?
I understand Tess's frustration, but unless she has a secret child hidden somewhere, she has no inkling on how difficult it is for a father to deal with a son-died-young. And honestly, I don't find her that good a character to lead Gilneas. She has training in intel and subtle networks, but she had never been a leader of a nation or with proper training (since Liam received most of it when he was alive, and Tess got none after). Though, media these days seems to be in a trend of younger generation "proving" older generation wrong by doing... almost nothing.
Then is she still princess or would she be crowned as queen? Also, does this mean that he’s gonna be present in the current space we’re in as players - dragon isles now - and Tess will remain in Gilneas foreseeing its rebuilding?
At the party in Valdrakken, Tess was seen at a table with other leaders Baine, Maya, Tyrande, Jaina, Thrall and Lillian. I wouldnt be surprised if Tess gets a coronation soon.
Ah yes, another cinematic where a dude who suffered immensely is apologizing to a woman who dealt with a fraction of the weight he did, as she chastises him for not being emotional enough. What are the board at Blizzard smoking? Who is writing this crap?
@@moxeus I just think the whole thing is very random and forced TBH, if anyone should become regent, it should be Mia, his wife, much more experienced and moderate between her husband and daughter.
@@moxeus Its still forced. Kings dont give up their crown because they feel bad or tired. They give it up if theyre mentally incapable of ruling or too old, if then at all.
If Liam were alive to see who his sister brought along for the reclamation he would have slapped her down with the force of at least ten suns. Man would have manifested corporeally into the offices at blizzard and started throwing hands at the people calling themselves writers. Probably the worst way they could have possibly wrapped up what was one of WoW's better stories, absolutely tragic.
Ah yes, just what I'd hoped. Another melodramatic cutscene where a man steps down for a woman because she is the better version of him and he's too old.
well, it’s official, warcraft is all but gone now, they should just get rid of all the faction leaders while they’re at it….TESS?? Seriously?? Even her wowpedia page is pretty bare bones, even the bloodfangs have more development, more background info….only thing she has going for her is a cute face, thats about it though
Have you already thanked the Horde for their help? Because nothing was done by ally. We had to watch the damn Horde come and save Gilneas for Ally's beggars.
@@celiovicenteribeirofilho9740 we dont have to. This was their thanks for the Alliance helping them reclaim Lordeaeron. The debt was paid in full long ago.
Garrosh ordered Sylvannas to take Gilneas, yes. What he absolutely didn’t do though, is order her to use blight. As a matter of fact, he directly FORBADE her from doing so. And like the irredeemable rotter she is, she did so anyway, making Gilneas uninhabitable for several years. Yeah the Gilneans have plenty of reasons to hate the undead.
@@daankeizer4469also killed Liam in the process but we can't hate Sylvanas for that because she's the perfect character and did nothing wrong. Genn at least deserved some closure and pulling a Kerrigan on a war criminal was wrong.
It doesn't matter if they were ordered to do it, the fact remains it's their hands on the proverbial trigger. Doesn't matter how hard someone tells you to do something, you have to be willing to do it to actually do it, and the consequences for doing it are on you. They're not mindless automotons, they have wills of their own, and if it truly went against their will they wouldn't have done it to begin with, but it simply wasn't. They are still responsible.
What a rubbish quest. I'm glad I didn't spend any money on dragonblight. This xpac has exactly the petty quality that the devs are willing to do for anything that includes ally. It's incredible how Blizzard tries to be extremely disappointing. It wasn't enough to emasculate Greymane and the Worgen with Tessa's story. They had to make Gilneas need the Forsaken freaks. And everything was done quickly. Couldn't we have done it ourselves? No. Let's beg for help from those responsible for all the shit. And we'll do you the favor of solving their problem with the Scarlet Crusade. Was it very difficult for us to do it ourselves? No! By the time it was finished, the ally's NPCs were less than 20. A few souls. That heirloom armor that looks like a butler's outfit is ridiculous. Tess' quest decreasing the worgen and now this. All that was left was Genn to plead with. A disappointment for those who expected something genious was only to paint the forsaken friends of the neighborhood and Glneas as poor things who need to be saved by their tormentors. I wanted to send some insults to those responsible but I can't. HAVE MERCY.
I wouldn't say that. The Undead are still in shambles after BFA, and they simply cannot push back the Gilneas forces. It's not about who is the villain or the good guy, is realpolitik, being realistic. The Horde has been on the brink of extinction again, divided by civil war, and this is just a logical consequence of the situation. I found the cooperation between undead and gilneans forced, as it is having established the Scarlet Crusade as the common straw enemy again.
meh boring would have been cool to have Genn be king. Now he just going to be a random soft side character after years of building his character up. I starting to see all the characters in the game are the same person with no unique personalities. The all overly emotional and talk about their feelings the whole time.
Yup, 30 seconds into the questline and he turned total soy, asking 2 strong women for help even tho he wanted this for so many years. Blue haired weridos took over. Look how badass genn was vs sylvanas… WoW is lame as fuck now (at least the threadmill is better in df).
Too bad after retaking the city it's still just an empty zone not full of NPCs and auction house or anything. That and the stupid soap opera display we seem to keep getting in current cinematics.
Finally! They are going back to the Gilneas storyline which is much better than that awful Dragonflight storyline and has the most unique music theme I have heard.
@@froggyslice6943 Tess really is a trivial character though...what was she last, a Subtlety Rogue in Dalaran?? Why should every worgen character suddenly cheer for her just because she's Genn's daughter?? Besides, she is not even a worgen...
@@ArnoldTeras but she is Gilnean, and the only heir of the royal family. Worgen characters are Gilnean first and worgen second. Also not all Gilneans are worgen.
Lmao, even Genn had to be replaced by a badass boss babe that don't need no man. Wtf is Blizzard even doing? Do they not realize the pendulum has swung to the opposite direction? There are literally zero male characters that aren't sociopaths, villains, or subservient betas. Yikes.
Its so lame to see the horde and alliance get along, the game is literally called "world of warcraft" not "world of friendship". This is probably one of the core reasons the game isnt thriving anymore, theyve killed faction pride.
Faction war is literally the worst part of Warcraft. Both MoP and BFA were much worse off for having it front and center. Faction war can never be resolved in a satisfying manner, because it's an MMORPG, and both Alliance and Horde have to go on existing pretty much the same, no matter what.
@@ПетрПетров-о6ъ9н I respectfully disagree, Classic WoW today is extremely popular, and it centers itself around faction conflict. I just think Danuser and certain writers ruined the storyline....
@@ПетрПетров-о6ъ9нHow was MoP worse for having the faction war be a big part of it? It was the expansion to do it the best, I loved the Horde vs Alliance conflict and many people shared the same sentiment.
