He really added a lot. Keith is a great song writer but seriously barely plays. Taylor filled the holes. Ron Wood is great and really shined in the faces but it’s like they barely let him be heard. Mick Taylor in the Stones was the best era
@@vincenzostr4488 I will have to disagree with your opinion. Ronnie Wood is pretty good. The Rolling Stones was not his first gig. He was in really good bands before that. He is not a guitar God, but he is good.
The Stones with Taylor has no equal in the Universe. Mesmerizing, having so many scales inserted. He could over-do it. Sadly, in those days, the stack couldn't carry the low bass load in proportion to Charlie's snare/tom's and the guitars which come off "tinny." From the greatest rock and roll band to the greatest lounge band in 1 instant the moment Mick Taylor left the band........
Jagger's a world class performer, while Taylor's a world class musician. Taylor's the only one of those the group ever had, and I don't dislike the Stones, it just is what it is.
In the late 1970s and into the early 1989s, the first number of years with Ron Wood, they were still superb. Of course, loosing the solo abilities of Mick Taylor was a huge blow to the band, and noone will probably ever understand why he decided to leave in late 1974. A mistake of a lifetime. Misunderstanding the difference between being a super gifted guitarist and being a songwriter seems to have been the biggest problem, along with getting bad advice from some musician friends outside of the Stones, seem to have been the issues.
Signed! Keith gives great props to Mick Taylor in his autobiography (a must-read for any Stones fan) saying how exciting and fun it was to have a virtuoso guitar player in the band. Keith is a firm believer in the 2-guitarists school of rock.
Good point maybe so does anybody know the real story would love to hear it and as possible for a reunification one last time Mick Jagger and Mick Taylor, there talent was amazing. Does anybody out there know the true story
Mick Taylors searing and melodic solos were nothing less than a work of artistic genuis especially the way he weaved them around the rhythm guitar of Keith. He was one of a kind
The MT era was simply the best of the Stones. I'm a huge fan and love most all of it but this truly was them at their finest musically and especially live.
Agree. I love them now, but I can't say that it is the best. The era of Mick Taylor is definitely the best. Of course, there is the best in the days of Brian and Ronie, but now is not the best.
Back then they played like a rock band, bill wyman quit at the right time they started to sound like a kareoke band by then, with lots of added gloss, which was fine for the consumate audience but boring for the die hard rock fans
More like an “oh dumbshit “ moment for Mick Taylor. Gave up an equal 20% financial share in the greatest rock n roll band ever, never did anything noteworthy after leaving and basically ended up living in a van down by the river the rest of his life. One of the stupidest financial decisions in Rock history.
I remember that Melody Maker or NME headline. I was devastated. I knew the band would never be the same and I confirmed it when I went to both shows in Cologne in 1976. They were terrible. Ron Wood was great with the Faces thoug. What a pity!
@@patconner5791 Exactly! I once saw him in concert, he played some very repetitive blues songs and quite a few Stones numbers, ironically the Stones numbers were mostly written by Richards, Taylor's singing was awful although I gather he was unwell by then.
@@patconner5791 living in a van ? The 71-year-old Mick Taylor is in first place on the "People With Money" list of the top 10 highest-paid guitarists in 2020 with an estimated earnings of 46 million dollars, which he earned from various sources. The British guitarist has an estimated fortune of 145 million dollars.
dennis schallock That’s if Donald Trump is counting his money. Not sure where you were getting your information bubs but Mick Taylor has been near broke for 4 decades.
Very cool @Kevin Blake! I also was a fortunate attendee of one of the three shows at The Garden on that tour. They played a show onThanksgiving night (Thursday November 27th) and a matinee AND a late show on Friday the 28th of 1969. My $5.50 ticket (yes you read that right) got me a seat at MSG for “the breakfast show” as Mick J called it (because they didn’t go on until 10:30 PM. Freaking amazing to see and hear them with the great Mick T. on his first tour.
Gimme shelter, 72??. Anyway, Mick Taylor was great with the stones, and certainly in the gimme shelter tour of 69’. I actually saw him solo in the middle 80s at a place called maxes on Broadway in fells point, Baltimore, Maryland. Was great to see him in such a small venue. Amazing and extraordinary guitarist indeed!
Very nice stuff! Thanks for sharing. Mick Taylor deserves his own place in the quirky ass R&R HOF and ranking as one of the top rock lead and blues guitarists of all time. I love the Stones and the Glimmer Twins, but know in my gut that MT got ripped by the Stones machine. Jagger and Richards should give MT 10+% royalties and or at least what other "official" band members got during his tenure. Really more bc MT was the most creative member behind Jagger and Richards. RIP Mr. Watts.
I saw that tour in Seattle probably one of the greatest rock and roll band In the world they were. The Taylor years they could gldo no wrong. Ronnie is good. He's not mick taylor. Just what stones would be doing if he never quit the band. Great show love yq
The line up with Mick Taylor had such a groove n feel the music - really top notch 1969 - 1976. However I do love the Rolling stones 2 death no matter what.🎸🎸🎸❤🎸🎸🎸🖖👍
I Agrēë, but they have Ãll, in Ãll Êrãs, have Given tōö the Stònes their Ãll, and it was a Masterpiece, a Sūpérnætūrãl Experience, but great or good the Stònes have carried Mê thru and thru, Always, Rämblïn, sorry, ¡😎🥚😎¡
Marzo ...2022 ...siempre ESCUCHANDO Y MIRANDO ..ESTO QUE PARA MI ES LA PERFECCION ...TAN GRANDES ...Y VUELVO A REPETIR....MICK TAYLOR ..🙏🎸🔥TREMENDO ...LA MEJOR EPOCA STONE ...QUE BANDA ...🙏GRACIAS POR TANTO...LOS SALUDO DE ARGENTINA 🇦🇷✌️♥️👏
At the time this video was shot both Taylor and Clapton were in their prime; hard to say who was the best, Eric’s guitar playing on the Layla album is phenomenal.
@@giorgiorinaldi3535 I prefer Mick Taylor for his smooth and rich playing, he was the man who saved The Rolling Stones before they where jumping in the abyss of hard drugs. Eric Clapton ... come on, he's great but Mick toped any guitarist in this period, any.
Megalodon Morrison : Pretty sure he wasn’t trying to surpass anyone. He was just putting all his passion in the guitar to make the most beautiful music.
I love Mick Taylor, best guitarist they had by far, and that’s not putting Brian or Ronnie down, but their music from ‘69-‘74 is definitely the best. I think MT pushed Keith to another level. My only question is why does he stand with his head to the side looking at the fret? Is he shy, or that’s just him? When he’s on stage these past few years, he moves around a lot more
The Rolling Stones... I know the Rolling Stones ...every stage they played on the stage love them and they love the stage Perfect magic right there ...they had it then they have it now... nothing was given they earned every drop... the Rolling Stones are a fantastic band and longevity is there also... party up party on rock on Rolling Stones
Mick Taylor tocava muito qualquer musica que ele solava e engolia os outros musicos principalmente Kaith , bateu inveja por isso ele não ficou na banda.
