I recently received my P1 2023 Madone SLR 9 eTap in Prismatic White. This replaces (or supplements) my 2011 Madone 6.5 in H1 geometry. The fit is quite similar but wow, what a difference in the ride. The new Madone is much more responsive to turns and it will take some time to get used to. The ride feel was much smoother than my old Madone as well, which was a surprise. Part is due to the wider 28mm tires than the 25mm tires on the old Madone but I don't think this accounts for all the difference. Speed is a bit faster for me, but I'm not a racer so can't get the most out of it. I'm quite happy with this bike.

I don't care if the hole does anything or not. This think looks like it was designed by the Ferrari formula 1 team engineers. Right color too. Love bright red treks with the white logo.

Love the new bar design, but I wouldn’t trade the lighter weight of my rim-brake version for this! Also as an engineer, the failure mode of the “Skank-Tail” scares me. Cantilevers should general be avoided if possible. Sure, it’ll flex nice, but if it fails, you’re going to fall back on the fast-spinning rear wheel as you watch your balls get sucked through that aero hole by the tire. I’d tolerate the extra 0.000001 Watt to save my gonads. As far as the weight saved, if you’re under 100kg, just get a 100gm Berk Lupina padded version and save way more weight safely.

I don't like isospeed and isoflow hole. I prefer the traditional flat tube design with a seat post suspension system, for me it would be more interesting.

I'm skeptical as well, but the compliance added to the stiffness properties of carbon probably means it'll be fine. Trek engineers must know what they're doing, I guess.

You'd have nothing to worry about. I've been ridding one for several months on roads with varying conditions and not once have I felt uneasy or squeamish. I ride at 58cm with the seat at it's max height and I weigh ~200lbs/90kg, so if there was something out of order, I'd feel it.

It’s pretty common to go larger chainrings and larger cassettes now since electronic derailleurs have large capacity and it’s more efficient overall.

To do it at no additional cost, it would need to be done through P1. But as long as you are willing to buy a replacement bar/stem/install you can do it on a stock bike

ditching the reflectors will save some weight too. Upgrading wheels, cassette (DA) and maybe crank and you can save probably another pound

I would be afraid of the entire seat post section having an eventual catastrophic failure and snapping off after hitting a good sized bump or pothole on the road. I dont care for how the riders weight is supported on a piece of carbon fiber that is cantilevered from the main structure. For that alone I would stick with the previous design.

Just ordered slr 7 gen 7 from a trek store and drove 3 hours away because I got 1200$ off the price. I negotiated with them and emphasized to them that I’m willing to drive 3 hours away from my town to buy the bike from them, and they honored me with that discount on top of 50 days wait time. and my fuel gas costed me only 70$ and they also offered me 12% off to get the high performance R4 tires that come with the blonde side walls. It also makes the bike so clean and nice. I feel absolutely bad for those people that paid 9049$ and didn’t negotiate. The bike was 7877$ before taxes with taxes it was 8349$. AND Michigan taxes is one and half percent lower than Ohio (7.5% vs 6%). This bike drives incredible and I can’t wait to get it soon. 🥹😂 Negotiate Negotiate !!!

16 is the new 15lbs now that bikes have to include disk brakes & Di2 + more aero design. I'm not a Specialized guy, but they're going to slay the market with their 13lb Aethos and no proprietary tech, just some good ol' fashioned 27.2 seat tubes, threaded BB's and those beautiful seat stays where they belong...at the top of the double triangle. BUT...I'm still keeping an eye out for a 2020+ Madone that are plummeting in prices right now owners rush to the new tech.

It is not a toy, it is professional equipment. No need to buy professional equipment if you're not a professional. You can always buy a cheap bike. People spend more on toys than this. Yachts, super cars, etc. are "toys", it's not like most of the billionaires buying them are professional yacht racers nor car racers.

As expensive as cycling can be(it doesn't have to be) its cheaper than some other hobbies out there, even if this is your bike. I have family members who spend more than this on things like motorcycles, snowmobiles, horses, boats, etc.

@@Blah-blah-sure the fact that there's a center hole doesn't meant is stronger, all goes in the process involved in the carbon fiber treatment, i'm not a trek fan for his prices, i think they are too overrated but on quality, if you break one, it comes failed from fabric or you don't treat them well, on on normal conditions, i don't think it snap just because a bump
