Gimonde is a small village 6km northeast of Bragança, located on the left bank of the Sabor, at the point where the Contencio and Malar streams and the Igrejas river meet, which make this place a very pleasant and pleasant resort. picturesque, further enhancing the landscape with its two bridges. In Gimonde a milestone of the Emperor Caro dating back to around 282 AD was found, which belongs to the ancient Roman road Chaves - Astorga. Gimonde was therefore a station on the military route from Braga - Astorga and which Antonino's itinerary deals with.
Gimonde, on the other hand, passes through the arms of an itinerary generally known as Via de La Plata, originating in Seville and stopping at Zamora and Astorga, where it links with the well-known French Way to Santiago.
