This video has been a big help... One question... I am doing a logo which has a red border and wanted to change the color to black.. I took my Paintbrush and selected black.. and black showed up on the color square... however when I went to paint over the red it turned it to dark blue instead of the black ... Any suggestions of what I could have done wrong?
I've noticed you can't do this for lighter coloured cars, especially white cars. Any advice on that? Maybe I should darken the image and up the contrast first?
Hue and staturation will only work with a colour other than white and black, the only other option is to manually make a selection and the hand paint the colour on to the car
Not sure give both a try and also check Gimp documentation to understand the differences between HSV and HSL... I am still reading up on the latest version of GIMP
Thank you for responding. If I may add another question: I am trying to apply a colour change to a primarily white-based texture. However I find that following your method makes little-to-no change. If you don't mind my asking: What is your preferred method for changing a white textures to another texture (i.e. change a white box to a blue box)?
Any picture of white car will suffice for the example. But if I may give an example: I want to change the white car's colour to a brown one. I tried following your example but there is no discernible change. I even have the colour code I want to use: 303030
@@dcpwebdesigners Hi DCP ; ) .................... I've never seen anybody do it before, so I guess there must be a reason. Probably the most difficult colour to pick! Sorry about that mate. Off to watch some more of your GIMP tutorials, I think they're superb! Thanks TURK
Thanks for your comment :) sorry I can not share the image as I bought the image from stock image website, check my RU-vid channel, I just made a video for 5 top free stock image websites so you can find and download images for free !
