Amazing tutorials, thank you so much!!!! So easy to follow and understand! I would love to see more in depth videos on layers in Gimp. Like for example how to work with png files (adding png's to jpeg background), moving png's forward and backward to achieve certain effects and so on... I currently learn how to work with digital scrapbooking kits to create new images for printing. You seem to be the only person explaining things in plain understandable for majority of public terms. Thank you very much!!! Looking forward seeing new videos!!!
Hi. Can you a animated line? for example; I am going from Point A to Point B and I want my line of travel to be animated and show the route. Can this program do that?
i want to understand how to add a white border to an artwork image so that the print size is a little bigger than the image. In other words i want to enlarge the canvas layer but not the image. or similar thing. do you have a video for that? and thanks so much! just starting to use Gimp.
Thanks for these tutorials, they are really helpful. Is there a way to connect several or all layers, so that you can move several or all layers together?
Yes. Save your work. Then export and "flatten" the image. I think TJ goes over thar briefly around the 5 minute mark. Then go back to your work and now open the "flattened" image as a new layer.
I cannot drag the new layer when trying to drag the new layer the previous layer highlighted and drag it instead of the new layer and I think it locked and try to unlock it but can't. Any suggestions, please
hi, so, i have a gimp doc with 30 layers. and i want to be able to only view a single layer at a time. Is there a button to leave only the selected layer as visible??
One thing that GIMP still can't do is selecting multiple layers + using adjustment layers (I don't know why it taking them so long to implement when Krita does have them for quite a while now.)
Very nice video, thanks! One question: when you click next to the eye icon in the layer pane, there is a new icon appears. Click it again, it disappears. What is it?
I'm trying to layer a lot of pics, so that you can see all the pics, on top of each other, at the same time. Trying to catch the movement of stars, as in a line/streak. Do you have a tutorial on how to do that?
try making some of those layers more transparent, so that for example the leyaer with just the moving star on it is very transparent so you see the layer(s) beneath it.
Hey, I'm looking to create an attractive thumbnail by taking one picture and putting it over another. Every time I do this, though, it takes both the picture and its white background. I just want to take away the background and keep the main part of the picture to put it over the other one. Can someone help me?
@@damondebruin1699 I finally figured it out. Turns out, it's quite easy. You add an alpha layer using the Layers setting and then use the Erase tool and remove whatever you don't want in the picture. After putting your pictures together, you have to export it as a PNG file. Hope I helped!
Most image viewing softwares display "transparency" as white (unlike GIMP which displays it as checkered boxes). So, in reality, the image does indeed have a transparent background, but the image viewer shows it such that it appears to have a white background. Hope that helps!
Hi Ryndon, Thank you for your GIMP series. I have spent hundreds of $ for Photoshop & after 2 years, I found it was too complicated for me & much more than I needed. New to GIMP, I have a question for you: I want to create a custom desktop wallpaper of the Golden Gate Bridge with live rain from Lively Wallpaper. Is it possible to layer the bridge from GIMP (creating it as a layer) onto the live rain? (I am a beginner with advanced dreams :)
Very nice video tutorials about GIMP. I appreciate you on your efforts. Can You let me know during tutorial how do you show the keyboard keys on the display o the audience. For example when you his on it.Like " Ctrl + z " . it appear on then screen . Which software you use for this purpose ?
I have meticulously followed these instructions but for some reason, if I, innocently enough, click on the backround image and then reselect the higher circle layer, it automatically toggles back to the backround layer the moment I attempt to move the circle and only moves the backround. No idea why this is happening.
Just discovered the problem. When you click on the "Move" icon, yo u have to make sure the Tool Toggle attribute of the Move is set to "Move the Active Layer"
a Big mistake in explaing how to add a new layer that you did not show how to make it transparent or visible. It didn't work with me so I went other videos to help me😮💨
How do I duplicate a layer? I have a blue rectangle. Its job is to highlight a line of text. When I click on - Duplicate Layer - all that happens is the blue turns to a darker blue. When I click and drag on the rectangle, there is no new blue rectangle beneath it.
