Can you help please? My updated version doesn't work the same. Colours - luminosity isn't there. I can do luminance? Also at the end my image is blurry. If I turn the blur layer off, i can keep a sharp image. Thanks!

Hi draftdonkey: I used Jan's routine several times before writing a GIMP script/filter that prepares the layers up to the point where you start using the brushes. It has been tested only on Windows 10/GIMP 2.10.8, but if you are interested in trying it, I would be happy to share it with you.

Ik heb jouw kanaal pas geleden ontdekt maar toch al veel van je geleerd. Het zijn altijd leuke dingen die je laat zien en de uitleg is altijd duidelijk. Ik ben zelf nu 3 jaar bezig met GIMP maar je bent eigenlijk nooit uitgeleerd. Ik zou zeggen ga zo door!

hi, at 1:26 in this video it states stretch the dialog box but I dont have one with a window in it.im on version 2-10-14.any ideas

Wat een leuk effect en duidelijk uitgelegd. Alleen de laatste stap om de 'watercolor texture' toe te voegen, snap ik niet. Ik kan deze niet vinden. Had ik die eerder moeten maken?

Hoi Joy, Ik zag bij mijn notifications, dat je twee berichtjes had gestuurd over het verkleinen van foto's. Ik kan de berichtjes zelf echter niet vinden, misschien omdat er een link in staat... ik heb wel even gekeken op www.verkleinen.nl maar zie nog niet zo gauw wat het verschil is met andere fotosoftware. Inderdaad ...Ik merk helemaal geen verschil met het verkleinen van de foto.Dit is het hem juist.De waarde van de bewerking blijft even mooi !!!Want om dit op een forum te plaatsen zijn die toch wel heeeel groot hé.Ik had inderdaad de link geplaatst...maar die werkt hier niet.Daarom heb ik die verwijderd.Gimp groetjes

Eigenlijk bedoelde ik, dat ik geen verschil zie met het verkleinen van een afbeelding in b.v. gimp ofzo. Ik heb geloof ik ergens in mijn RU-vid instellingen aangegeven dat er geen links in de commentaren kunnen omdat er dan misschien van alles geplaatst kan worden... (spam he...) I was so excited to find this tutorial, however, I am having nothing but problems when I get to the brushes. I am using the Gimp 2.10 I have tried following the suggestions for the other two people that had problems, but mine still won't work. ANY input would be so appreciated.

Hi, nice video, but I can't use it with Gimp 2.10.22 because the numbers you explain here (e.g. blur radius 15 and delta 65) don't work on my version. Any idea how to fix that? Thanks

Is the water color paper texture still necessary if I plan to have the image printed on canvas or matte print? Also, should the print size or scale size be adjusted if I wish to print the image as 8x10? Thank you!

I was so excited to try this tutorial but now feel discouraged because I can't get the desired effect. I've tried it twice and at the point in the video when the instructor starts painting and the colors start to show through is where my problem starts. Instead of the photo's colors bleeding through all I get is one color and it's not even a color that appears in the original photo. And it requires a lot of effort on my part just to get that one color to show. I am also finding the "brush" difficult to manipulate. Most of the time it seems to have no effect no matter how hard I try to work it. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.

HI j jaks: I'm sure Jan will have a better insight to this than me, but I did have a similar problem to the one you describe. I am using GIMP 2.10 and what I found was that I did not have the colors set to the default values i.e. black and white - once I reset that, it worked fine for me. I hope that helps. . .

Help. I'm trying to follow along and everything works fine until I get to the brushes part, and then nothing happens when I use the brushes. I can see in the layers stack that it's doing something, but nothing shows up in the image window... like I'm not doing anything at all. All I see is the lines layer. I have the lines layer set to multiply and the brushes layer set to dodge. What am I doing wrong?

OK never mind, I figured it out. The paint color was set to white, so nothing was happening. So I started over and changed the paint color to black and it worked perfectly. Just posting this in case anybody else has the same problem.

Hoi Joy! Ik heb het zelf niet uitgeprobeerd, maar ik geloof je op je woord als je zegt dat de kwaliteit nu beter blijft. ;-) Ik heb jouw aquarel gezien en hij is heeel mooi geworden! Hoi Joy, als je een foto in Gimp hebt bewerkt, en je wilt hem als jpg gaan exporteren, dan kiest Gimp voor een kwaliteit van 94. Misschien blijft hij wel goed als je hem op kwaliteit 100 exporteert? Zomaar een gedachte van mij... Groetjes, Jan.

Jan ...ik kan de watercolor paper texture niet opslaan.Heb het dus op mijn manier gedaan.Weet niet wat er veranderd is?Zal mijn bewerking later eens posten.Ik ben er even uit .Gimpgroetjes.

Hoi Joy! Ik heb het gecontroleerd en beide afbeeldingen, dus het portret en de texture goed kunnen downloaden. Als je ze afzonderlijk download gaat het snel. Als je ze tegelijk download duurt het wel een paar minuten voordat Goolgle Drive er een zip file van heeft gemaakt, maar ik kan ze wel gewoon downloaden. Dus ik weet helaas niet wat er fout gaat bij je... ;-( Ik zag idd op je post it, dat je er ff uit bent. Zou zo zeggen tot gauw maar weer ;-)
