Back in the 70's I decided to learn how to play the harmonica.... I bought many books and casettes to help me out...... Did I learn?... YES!!!... only because I had Gindick's help... Recently a friend of mine gave me a Gindick book and said " listen to this guy.. he's pretty good"... I said I know... thank you so much for your teaching me...
Only just started Harmonica and everything can get so overwhelming. This video just jumps you straight into the bluesy jams which I love. Cant explain how much fun I had jamming along and I learnt so much as well. Thanks Man.
WOW, that sure was a quick 22 1/2 minutes! I guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun! I think I'll be coming back to this lesson often. Thanks Jon.
Joe you are great! you make the harp look so easy. Thank you for your web site, it gives me the hope of playing as good as you. I hope to meet you someday. Mick
Just discovered you. These lessons would have saved me years in 1963. So much fun. You make it so clear and accessible. We can see our way to Junior Wells or any way. So many harp RU-vid teachers bludgeon you with riffs and technique. You take SIMPLE basic stuff and make it into MUSIC. You don’t have to be a caffeinated crack head to play the harp. I won’t name names to be nice, but y’all know what I’m talking about. I like how you just speak some lyrics. It’s all about the story. So many players lose that. It’s like it’s all about when the singer shuts up, so me me me can show off. Awesome channel.
At about the 2 minute mark you say the down rift is 4d 4b 3d 3b, but you typed on the screen 4d 3b 3d 2d. I know I should just go with the flow and not over think this but I was playing with the onscreen and it did not sounds like yours! Once I listened to what you said mine sounded much better. :) But please keep these videos coming - they are awesome!
That's really a good lesson. Maybe it would be nice to have all of the tabs in 12 bar blues schema. I always try to create them from your lessons but it's hard stuff. Take a lot of time. Is this 12 bar blues notation just much more like a "cookbook" and not the exact song? It seems to be much more like free jazz. There are some pieces which can be combined free? However your videos help a lot to get a blues feeling. If I will ever visit US I will have a look at your camp.
Master, I haven't heard the "4 surprise" and "the good mornign riff" on the 2nd position track. Could you put it in a next jam ? It is very importantThanks.
Excuse my ignorance .I used to play Harmonica since I was like 7 years old and I used to play Heart of Gold by Neil Young which I find very easy to play. But when it comes to play John Mayal's or Sony Boy Williamson's I just sucked so I gave up for some years even when I have most of the Harp keys I still don't like my playing and I have found even more difficult to play due to my dust allergy . Is there any good websites with more info about Harps ?
Hi Jon, excellent stuff. Exactly what I was looking for. Also, can you share what amp and mic set up you are using? I see that it's a bullet, but what element?
