Gin taught me the valuable lesson that the best way to kill a bear is to spin through the air like a giant laser saw blade and fucking decapitate it. That’s how hunters usually kill bears right?
How can this anime be so unpopular since this anime is made by TOEI animation, the same company that brought us Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Digimon etc. It's sad that only people living in the Nordic countries remember this anime.
This was rated as a kid's show in Norway by most people, despite the brutal maulings and the decapitations. Either the Norwegians are insane or they are metal as fuck-probably both.
I dunno know it is but this gives me chills. Just that kind of music but the characters, the setting and the whole theme of the episodes are awesome. Gin is such an awesome character, you look at his growth from this as a pup, evolving from a kid wanting his Dad to a fearsome warrior and leader to a father having his own kids, each to follow their own destiny. I love the Ginga anime. Riki will always be my fave character, fearsome, loyal and never lets a little thing like death stop him from his revenge.
LandsoftheUnknown You know, opinion is a thing. In HIS opinion it's the greatest. He didn't say anything rude, nor did he say anything wrong, so stop acting like an ass.
Everyone here saw the anime when were kids? That's weird... in so many countries was censored by all the blood, and in other countries is forbiden even now. This anime never came to Spain, we never saw it until we found it in Internet.
How unfortunate that the kids of today have to grow up, only to see shapes of different sizes and colors talking to each other in hippy manner as their "educational shows".
Zainthey I don't know why you commented that, but modern cartoons and animes are not bad; it's normal that an old generation think it is better than the new generation and viceversa. This always happend througt history, is a law of life. Shapes of different sizes and colors? I don't get it. With that are you mean modern shows when people of other races and ethnic groups appears? The educational shows are for kinder kids; grow up kids, teens and adults have dark fantasy and comedy shows as Steven Universe, which is ``educational`` about life lessons and emotions. You must see it, is a great cartoon.
Same here. And basically i had to watch all of my favorite animated movies in the internet with bad quality because all of them were censored :|(Watership down and Plague Dogs cough)
The mountains are calling you. The sky is calling you. You know someone's waiting for you in the far off distance. You feel your blood burning. Oh so vividly. Now you understand, the reason you were born. RUN AND RUN. RUN AND RUN. Become the wind and run. Come on, exceed what you did yesterday. Challenge things that are much greater than yourself. That's right, youth is shooting star. Which never burns out.
love from Sweden in 2024 ! I grew up watching this ...Im 34 and I still rewatch them sometimes.I still get goosebumbs every time I hear this song...it gives me power !
@@claussoegaard i used a site called silverfangreader to watch subtitled episodes, there are probably some other fan websites but that is the one i used ^^ hope this helps.
I cant believe how this story can be so powerful. I've watched this many times when I was a kid and many years later, it still gets my emotions to the surface.
Never thought i would go to therapy for having intense vivid dreams about akakabuto. Realistic dream about dogs trying to kill a gigantic bear. Not funny like i'm 24 year old soon but GnG was my childhood anime. Powerful shit like no anime ever got me this scared. Like imagine a super gigantic bear in a dream and there is nothing you can do about it. But to be honest.. Creator of this anime is a genius. There is something about this akakabuto that makes me scared.
Me and my brother are now 24 and 26 years old. We often listen to this song and enjoy the nostalgic feeling together. Watched all the bloody Gin movies as small toddlers! What a childhood. 90s kids ftw
***** hehe, watched the uncut movies when I got older. But I understood early on that they had cut away some clips. When I was 16 I bought all the movies [uncut edition] Was awesome to watch
Steffen Hellesylt Know exactly what you mean, me and my sister (both 21 now) watched the short version when we were young, around three or four, and it has sticked with us till now. And me and my sister got the tradition to rewatch it every year as the nostalgic feels are so immense. Especially on the short version (swedish dubbed), and even more now when we both met one of the voice actors, Peter Harryson in person.
+Öywind Thornander Saw this anime when I was a kid too, (still think its one of the best ever) but I still remember that it was pretty violent and gruesome even on VHS. Kids nowadays would never be allowed to see this... and if they did they would need therapy, haha!
This was my absolute favourite series as a child. The series also has a lot of warm memories tied to it because I used to watch it with my dad. Now I'm watching it again and still love it!
Weed became leader because Gin wasn't there most of the time. Then he becomes leader by.....not killing the dog that killed a lot of their friends, including John and Jerome.....but by all means reward his dumb ass.
Rooster Booster With the animation quality that produced that should have at least made it as good as Gin's anime, but they just made him a goody two shoes
This series teached me and my little friends so much great values about life and appreciating it, I can't help but be grateful japanese manga and anime creators have been able to share their inner wisdoms with me from such a young age!
@UberPyro64 I heard that outside Japan this show only got popular in the Scandinavian countries. Cant understand why because this show is freaking awesome.
Just finished this today and read the prequel manga about Riki, with plans to read the remainder of the manga from where this anime left off before moving on the sequels. From what I've seen so far, I'm really enjoying this series so far and did not expect all this from a series about dogs fighting bears. Easily part of my top 10 now
How could you not expect something from a series about dogs fighting demonic bears? Lol freaking awesome you don't often get any manga like this with dogs as the stars nevermind a shonen manga at that. if you ask me this be a breath of fresh air due to how unique it is the whole dogs being the main cast instead of the human characters heh we need more manga like this
I remember watching the 4 VHS tapes I had of this so many times growing up (I still have them :D) and getting goosebumps from the opening every time! Too bad they changed the Danish dub when it was released on DVD with the uncensored content, the first VHS version was way better. At least, they included the original Japanese version with subs so now I prefer to watch that version even though I still have a lot of nostalgia for the first released Danish dub I loved growing up
I grew up watching Cardcaptors, Digimon, Pokemon and Tokyo Mew Mew but as a kid I just thought they were cool looking cartoons. Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Ginga Densetsu Weed and Wolf’s Rain were my official introduction into the world of anime; so happy I had access to RU-vid as a young teen, otherwise I never would’ve known these gems. 🥰💖
Anyone get the idea that the creator of the manga this anime was based on, really, really, really hated bears? Akakabuto may as well be Satan in bear form.
I just love the cheesiness in this. Like the way the the fiery lights erupt from the ground and the silhouettes of the bears rise up all threatening, and how Gin does a bit of a matrix-y spin effect while fighting Akakabuto. It just clicks in some crazy way!
Hmm, I can't believe that there is no English nor Spanish dub, only the Finnish and the Russian. HOW? The ost of GNG is amazing, one of the best that I have ever heard ... It also has a lot of wonderful characters , an amazing plot and a big diversity of dog breeds.
I remember watching this (and GDW) on RU-vid when I was a kid. I didn't know any english then, but this anime was the reason I wanted to learn. Episodes were shot down by YT daily, probably due to brutality. Now I'm a furry, and this show is fully to blame
*if* GNG get its anime adaptation today, anitwt community is gonna be "pissed off" no wonder why GDWO didn't get it's anime adaptation. or neither it's english dub as well probably western side loves dogs and do not want to see violence :/ (don't give anitwt ideas... hey anitwt keep grrr bark bark growling anyway)
Never thought i would be having intense vivid dreams about akakabuto. Zzydeph I don't understand why your parents let you saw all that blood and cruelty when you was a little baby-kid, (I could understand if they let you saw this anime with 10-12 years old, but not with a kinder age. You must be traumed 😨😦).
@@Terron-de-pimienta I watched a cut Finnish dub version of this as a 4-year-old. I never got traumas. Aaand I watched this in nursery school :D I know, pretty weird but goddamn, I loved it.
Still to this day my all-time favorite anime (EDIT: series). Yes, it has dogs rather than humans as the central characters, but the story, personalities of the dogs, the awesome antagonist Akakabuto and last but not least, the MUSIC is among the best still to this day. Have always, and will always, love this anime the most.
I just found this op through a link, but damn, its so 80's that it hurts, but 1 min into the op where the dog Rights the Bear, sent chills Down my spine
It's amazing how infatuated I was with this anime as a little kid. I even got my friend to love it even though she didn't have and still has no interest in anime. Now when I look back at it I- I don't know. I had forgotten about its existence and now I remember things again.
Greatest anime/animation piece ever created. Feels so nostalgic to listen after all these years, it really has a special place in my heart and will always have. I still remember as a kid when i went to mall with my mom and i wanted them all because there was this fancy looking dog in the cover :') So it started.
I first saw this almost 10 years ago. It's still the only comic and the only cartoon that instantly makes me cry. Today I was sketching my GNG themed tattoo, and I got all emotional just because of that. Something in the honor, bravery, friendship and never giving up just hits home, hard. I'm so happy and proud that I got to grow up, learning important values of life from these samurai-spirited cartoon dogs.
it sounds like a good POV and yes, it actually is very natural. I'm just so sensitive about blood, you know, that kinda girl who can't stand to see it. can't help it, even though I think bleeding is natural. everytime I think of blood it feels like I'm gonna throw up or faint.
I first came across Weed and its series I liked it, and then searched about it From there I learnt about this masterpiece And I love it even more than Weed Whenever I hear this, it gives me goosebumps What a wonderful creation ❤️ Long live Gin🙏♥️
Weed is fucking AWFUL compared to GNG. Really. It's watchable, sure, but hardly worth of remembering. GNG has everything: timeless characters, scary enemies, great plot, touching moments, amazing soundtrack.. everything.
Aw man can someone plz send a link to the complete manga series of Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. I left off on a good part but i couldn't find the next chapter 😢
is it sad to say one of my favorite characters was Akakabuto O.O and sad to say but i beleive GNG is better then GDW, Im fine with the whole series but GNG is my all time fav. there are some parts that make me mad in GDW like the dogs not moving their mouths when they talk through out the series... but i guess in GNG the dogs tend to change color or disappear >.
