Ah... brings back so many memories! 1983 was such a good year for music, and I remember Ginger Root's rise like it was yesterday! Wonder what ever happened to him, though... Anyway, I've been looking for the full EP of this particular album for YEARS, thank you so much for uploading it! ❤️
The way he recreates the era is genuinely mind-blowing. It really warms my heart. In my country during the 80s and 90s we would get a lot of broadcast channels from all around the Asia Pacific region in the early hours of the morning.
I was a junior high kid in the early 80’s in Japan. So I can understand what you are doing right here well. You are insane. I love everything you are doing! Thank you from Tokyo! 僕は80年代初期に日本で中学生でした。なので貴方がここで何をやっているか良く分かります。狂ってますよ! やっていること全て大好きです! 東京から、ありがとう!
@@kevinklingerpichardo8540 Thank you for asking. This is exactly the pop music we used to listen to in the 80’s in Japan. the analog film, analog (cassette-like) sound, complex city pop chords and the background funny story that a girl idol escaped from her hard work (many girl idols in the 80’s were allowed slept for 3 hours only a day) and the songwriter for her is accidentally replaced to the front stage. But not only imitation but also there are lots of his originality. I really don’t understand why the young musician who didn’t experienced the 80’s in Japan can create this kind of music. What a talent.

The hard choice of either listening to the already out audio clip or waiting for the video. Love your music btw the videos are a great part of it (especially loved the part at the end of holy hell that teased over the hill)
Ginger Root is a musicians musician. Everything about the writing, the orchestration, the performance... Is so thoughtful, thorough, and and natural feeling it's easy to take for granted that this wasn't produced by a team of song writers, an editor, and studio of top musicians playing together... Rather by the brilliant and goofy Ginger Root. Love it.
The fact that the theme of this EP deals with imposter syndrome and the music has a bubbly/funky vibe to it perfectly describes my 4 years as a music undergrad student. I was finally pursuing something I liked but I was constantly feeling like I didnt belong there due to high competition. Tons of anxiety, all nighters, and negative self talk throughout those years. Im graduating in November so looking back at those terrible experiences, it really made me a stronger person and a better musician overall. The last song resonates with what I feel now which is "yeah, it sucked but things will be alright" So glad I discovered your music, Cam! Will be listening to this on repeat
I hope ginger root isn't pressured to make better and better songs just so everyone that listens him wouldn't be disappointed because of the praise that he receives on literally every song.
Nisemono Lyrics: [Verse 1] I tried my best to bring For you For you It don't mean anything So true So true This time, I see All the things that I can't hide From you [Chorus 1] Take one step back And change your mind All the fake and fraud inside No one can seek No one can hide [Verse 2] Utattetanoni With you With you Nisemono ga ī (tabun) (tabun) kage no yō ni akeruto ī yo ne For you [Chorus 2] Take one step back And change your mind All the fake and fraud inside Know where you've been And what's been right All the fake and fraud inside Now one step back And change your mind We're talking No one can seek No one can hide [Outro] You see this time I see All the things that I can't hide From you
Everything’s Alright Lyrics: [Verse 1] You pick it up again Build it back But never cross the line It's only evident Saw you burning, flying through the night Some newfound confidence Taken back from what's now deep inside [Refrain] You say that you've got to be But you know that it's not true Tell me everything's alright (everything's alright) [Verse 2] Maybe it's all my friends Runnin' round with nothing for a while Maybe it's self-defense Jumping out of what's called single file Maybe it's happiness Now that I've been safe and sound, oh, wow [Refrain] You say that you've got to be But you know that it's not true Tell me everything's alright Everything's alright (everything's alright)
The tight snare drum fill at 0:28 is so damn pleasant. The right amount of softness, overall almost muted/muffled sound, the drums are excellent. Excited to hear this all in a moment of quiet, I just want to take it all in sonically. Well done as always Cameron, you really are here in this world for a wonderful reason, and I'm glad you do the creative things that you do, there's nothing else like it. Keep the momentum, I'm keen for what's next!
This EP release could not have come at a better time in my life! This is so special 🥺My comfort tracklist for sure Can't wait to see you in LA! Thanks for making life more fun ❤
I love all the songs so far! I wish Kimiko! was longer, it was also hella cool to try to understand as much of what she says from my basic understanding of Japanese! I’m also a huge fan of the reference to Loneliness at 2:26 in Nisemono, that was pretty sick!
I'm glad that I've discovered your music. I can't describe with my own words how much nostalgia you gave me just listening to your music. It transfers me to a time and place that shouldn't even exist in the first place for me. A lot of love from Germany! Keep going mate.
What really sets you apart Gingerroot, is your ability to construct a story and a world, then populate that world with funky tunes. It is really remarkable, so much so, I have remarked on it.
This EP is a triumph! Perfect flow from top to bottom. I love the concept from the singles released so far. Now I'm digging into the 3 new tracks and trying to figure out the rest of the story. Looking forward to catching the group in Philadelphia at the end of the month.
ll Ginger Root Theory ll ll By: CLOSEDINN ll ll Part 1 ll This is the show Ginger Root makes before, during, or after he gets famous in the EP Nisemono, he's even shown season 2 in the Holy Hell Music Video. This is not just random EP's, it's a story. The Events of EP City Slicker are a TV show made by Ginger Root or Cameron Lew before, during, or after the events of EP Nisemono. ll Part 2 ll His Rise started with him getting to work with Kimiko. He's Writes the song Loneliness but Kimiko quits Right before Her Debut At the Late Night Show. He Sing the song and Becomes the biggest Star. He Signs A Deal And the News is all over him. This leads to him being in many Ads and not having time to make music and feeling very busy he runs away. ll Part 3 ll When he runs away the Police look for him but can't find him his agent starts to look. He is just spending time like Fishing, Reading, Running, and Play and Learning Mahjong. His Agent starts to find leads. She find him And in a Mahjong Room ll Part 4 ll What I think will happen next is Kimiko comes back to get her place because the Name Nisemono Mean Imposter in Japan And that could mean Cameron Lew will be seen a Imposter. This will Lead to him being less popular or more popular. ll Coming soon ll ll Reply if I made any mistakes ll
Loved this album so far, I got inmersed in its story and what it means, the music slaps and sticked. Also helped me go through some work related situations. Thank you So Much Cameron!
Ginger Root has been one of the best parts of the past year or so. Ive been very busy building my company, working a day job at the same time - not leaving my house for weeks and months. I listen to GR alot - and i think this EP and this vibe youve brought back - it will be forever the soundtrack to a very memorable part of my life. Love you guys.
Ginger Root is my discovery of this year 2022.🤩 I started listening to him since the beginning of this year, getting to know him through the musical track "Loretta", and from then on I started listening to his entire musical collection on RU-vid and Spotify, captivating me more and more by his songs.😀 I am very happy to have discovered this wonderful artist with an incredible musical sound.😃 This EP Nisemono is fantastic so good to listen to several times leaving it on loop.😁 I'm very happy for your new work...thanks a lot for these great quality songs.😌

This is just wonderful. I have a feeling there was a LOT going on behind the scenes while this was all coming together. You did it. Just... congratulations!
Loving Over the Hill as my old ass is about to approach that stage in my life. Also just noticed the TV is playing the music videos for each song, which BTW each one is a masterpiece. Someone on here said it well. You do a great job at creating a world and filling it with great music.
All of the songs are so amazing and I am so jealous of the room in the visualiser!!!! And the one time he uploads at a reasonable time in Australia, I’m working 😭😭😭
I loved the City Slicker EP when I discovered it last November, so having this new EP arriving right now is perfect. Every song is fantastic, and you can tell a lot of passion went into the making of not only the EP but the music videos as well. Thanks to the whole team for such an amazing experience! Gonna have Nisemono on repeat for the next little while :)
13:57 Idk, but this song feels like when you're in the rainbow road on any mario kart game. this theme, Kimiko, loneliness and holy hell have that strong vibe. And i love it.
Amazing work, as usual! Where do you usually get your props? I'd imagine it's not easy to find stuff that hits this specific aesthetic so well, specifically in regards to the radio, the lamp, and the TV. Looking forward to my second, third, fourth, fifth and beyond re-listens!
Had a great time at the Atlanta concert. Y’all were great. It was fun talking to camera man David too :) I hope y’all had lots of fun and enjoy your break. Thanks for bringing such a fun live performance. God bless
I own all of Ginger Root's work on physical media. Hopefully that's more lucrative than relying on gatekeeping it behind some paywall. I'm hoping their strategy has worked out wonderfully
These tunes are all such bangers! Any other fans want to nominate Cameron as a guest for next season of Dish Granted on Watcher? I'd love to see my favorite musician treated to a once-in-a-lifetime meal!
