The real hero of these reviews is turning out to be the editor. Thank you Jessica for you notes. Great to see Johanna and Crystal back, what a movie to hear your thoughts on!
35:20 Wouldn't it be hilarious if Uncle Ben was a spider themed superhero when he was young and was literally trying to tell Peter that he actually did go through the same thing?
I really like when Johanna and/or Crystal are on a movie review because the passionate way they describe the scenes from the movie, even if they didn't like the movie, they look excited to talk about it. Newt you are great to, keep the good work with those movie details for Tony.
My two favorite animals humping stories 20:00 was our family at the drive through safari at Great Adventure Jackson NJ; back before it was Six Flags, and Dad grabbed our super 8 camera to film two lions going at it. Later that particular reel got lost at the film processors'. The second was during a high school field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo where a couple giant tortoises were being veeery slow but amazingly loud with their lovemaking. Oh, and speaking of love, I absolutely enjoyed the entire Ginger Snaps franchise.
Oh Boy, Time to Play My Favorite Drinking game on Hack The Movies when Crystal is on the Panel: Crystal Shots. Take a Shot/Drink every time Crystal goes: “YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!”
Eh, I really enjoy Johanna, but I still don't get what Crystal provides. She's often ill prepared for these reviews and at times, even reading off notes she gets information incorrect.
Love the show. Crystal and Johanna are great and enthusiastic. Really love this film too. Must point out though that the girls were fully aware of the dead dog on the hockey field. I think there's a line from one of the boys watching saying it's the "3rd dog of the week" or something - meaning the corpse has been left there long enough for the mean girl to push multiple other girls into it.
"3rd dog of the week" refers to the number of dogs that died.... 1st: Anonymous, 2nd: Baxter, 3rd: The dog on the field, 4th: the dog in the park, 5th: Norman, 6th: Jason's dog, 7th: Bully Girl's dog.... (I believe anyway, but the way Baxter's owner reacted.... it was like they knew that something attacked this dog, not a person.... the only way they'd know that, is through another dead dog report before Baxter's death.)
I was skeptical about this film back in 2000. From the box cover, it look like it was a teen horror satire. While the film did have some sisterly drama, the werewolf practical effects were awesome for the time.
When Tony brought up the cutting thing my heart skipped a beat for him… My entire high school time was filled with girls who did it and snapped if you questioned anything about it.
I saw the trilogy for the first time back in 2006, I THINK, when we had the Netflix 3-DVDs-at-a-time, and I loved the bond between Brigitte and Ginger that disintegrated throughout the movie until that ending that still depresses me when I spend the whole time cheering for Brigitte to save her, especially with Pamela trying so hard to help:( Then in the second one (my favorite one) how Brigitte is haunted by Ginger and ends up bonding with Ghost until she finds out she was lying to her but never intended to hurt her--when they're on the floor in Ghost's house and Brigitte gives her the little hug, and when Ghost gently pushes her into the basement as she's turning into the beast:) And the BEST part, that cartoon at the end of the angry Ghost with the Brigitte monster:):) The third one, NAH--I would've DEFINITELY preferred Ghost and Beast Brigitte going after Ghost's enemies, and Ghost starts to be able to communicate with Ginger while being conflicted about freeing Brigitte from the curse when she finds out how to do it...and with her love and knowledge for everything werewolf, it would totally end with her taking the infection from Brigitte TO save her and becoming Teen Wolf, being able to transform in complete control to do her own dirty work in the best way possible;)
A woman I worked with years ago use to quote line's from this movie all the time and I never understood what the hell she was talking about . Then I happened to see it one day and I finally got what she was saying. I can't tell you how many times I would say , what are you talking about and she would just laugh .
I have all three Ginger Snaps movies in my collection, always a great watch! One werewolf film you should look into for Werewolf Wednesdays would be Dog Soldiers.
The sequel was filmed in the City I live in since they have a fort from back in the day. Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I remember my English teacher's wife in Stony Plain, Alberta was involved with it and the teacher said it was being filmed there. So at least some external shots where done at a read fort.
Sorry for this, but when Tony talk about it smelling the blood I though he would refer to Pitch Black. There was a scene where Riddick talk about the monsters smelling the young girl. Also this thought made me want a DnD styled version of Pitch Black.
The actor that plays the teacher is on a Canadian TV show, The Red Green Show plays a forest ranger that never leaves his post. Very funny show if you never seen it seek it out and watch the greatest handyman In the world Red Green.
hey Tony, can you make a Crystal playlist so we can make a background noise with her? thanks, yeah im a simp.. for her.. sorry Newt but i think you understand..
