watching this video to compare my own recipe, just to find out that ive apparently been practicing chinese medicine for a while now by making ginger lemon honey tea whenever i felt like i caught a cold 😂 but lots of new input - i never knew honey had any particular health benefits!
Hi @Meitnerium, I think ginger is such an universal ingredients, many cultures have been using it for very long time. The interesting is, I find many natural therapies do share many similarities. The ancient people were wise people! 😊
Hi @Summar Joy, so great to hear you have been enjoying ginger jujube tea! They are indeed very delicious! I love it too. Have you subscribed to my email list? Just want to make you will receive my email. I am finalising some details, and working out the technology behind. I am very excited starting my own course too 😊
Ha I purposely chose a nice piece for filming. Ginger is so expensive in Australia! It is now $55 per kg! Yeah, the history is so interesting and I also thought how smart/observant they were at that times to figure out something, and most astonishingly, their 'theories' are 'proven true' in modern days!

@Kelliena, thank you for your kind words. This is my first time teaching, so I feel humble and nervous at the same time. I feel that the 'founding students' (the first batch of students, you!) are like the co-creators of this course, as your feedback is so important and will help to improve this course. And thank you for your trust in taking you on this journey! I am very excited too!
Hi @Happiness Frequency, thanks so much and I am very happy to hear my videos are helping you to learn more about Chinese Medicine and herbs. Ummm..... I don't quite fully understand your questions. If you are asking merely from functional perspective, from a TCM perspective, honey is often used to gently tonify Qi by supporting TCM Spleen, smooth bowel motions, and relieve mild cough. Purely from TCM perspective, if someone who doesn't eat honey, and I can often replace honey with other herbs that have above functions in the recipes. From western medicine perspective, it depends what you want to use honey for, and use appropriate substitute for it. Hope the above helps!
Is your ginger peeled, or just very fresh? I cannot tell. Would you please comment on whether or not to peel the ginger and whether that depends on its age? If drinking ginger tea when well, does it matter when in the day you drink it, e.g., should it be avoided early or late? If drinking when ill with a cold, should one be careful how many times one drinks it in a single day? Thank you for your excellent video. Since Chinese and western anatomy are different, thank you for always saying things like "TCM spleen" rather than just "spleen." I hope I've correctly understood your intention!
Hi @ef2b, sorry to missed your question initially! You asnwered quite a few questions here and I am going to just quickly answer them. My ginger on this video was very fresh. As for peeling or not, it is up to you. Ginger skin actually is cooing and has its own specific function. Leaving it on, balance the warmth of the actual ginger. Generally speaking, drinking ginger tea in the morning help to support its TCM functions more. And yes, need to be careful, never overdrink anything, it really dpends on individual and the symptoms the individual is experiencing. I am so happy to hear that you noticed when I mentioned 'TCM Spleen' and yes, you definitely understand my intention! You are right, as Spleen in Western Medicine is very different from 'TCM Spleen'. People who are new to TCM will get very confused if I simply say Spleen.😊
My Chinese cousin told me that drinking red dates ‘tea’ daily helps lower your blood sugar levels and the best type of ginger to get are the young ones because they have less ‘veins’ aka fibers inside. Is this correct? Thank you.
Hi @L Loo, not sure if you have watched my latest video (my Live Q&A sessions with my online course student). I addressed the question of if we can drink red date tea every day. This following is the link . You can look for that question in the timestamps in the description box. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-efDcjVgU6zU.html On the topic if red date can lower blood sugar, the studies are not conclusive. So, it is up to you if you want to do this as long as your body can handle the 'warming' nature of red dates. Not everyone can take it.
As for the ginger, ummm...... I am not too sure where your Chinese cousin coming from. He means 'best' in term of health benefits ? In Chinese Medicine, we generally think older ginger is warmer, and dried ginger is the warmest. Younger ginger is better for 'releasing the Exterior' as I explained in this video. We use older ginger for warming up our body. They are used specifically for their functions, not necessary younger is best or vice versa. Just my opinion based on Chinese medicine theory! Please double check and discuss with your cousin where he is coming from, he might come from a different perspective!

Thank you for your video, appreciate. I would love to sign up this online course while working from home. Learn alot from you and very informative. May I know what are the Chinese herbs that can shrink fibroid or cysts in women?
HI @Faith, thank you for your kind words and would love to meet you in my online course! 😊 As for Chinese herbs for fibroids or cysts in women, I would recommend you to see a qualified Chinese Medicine for help. You will need proper herbal decoction, herbal soup won't be strong enough. The uniqueness of Chinese medicine is it is very individualised. Even it is the same diagnosis in Western medicine, we would look at it very differently on different persons. Your fibroid/cyst is different to person B's or person C's. Therefore is no one herb for the same condition for everyone. This is very different to Western medicine. So, no one or two herbs taking for a long time will work for everyone with the same western diagnosis. A herbal formula usually consists of at least 5, to even more than 10 herbs specifically written for you and you only. Chinese medicine practitioners change the herbal combination according to many factors, such as your symptoms or progress would change, your responses to herbs might be different at different times, weather changes, and many other factors. Wishing you all the very best in this healing journey, please take very good care. Love, Shirley
HI @Jimmie, If you have been drinking ginger tea everyday but haven't experienced much of the 'side effects', for example, the heat signs, then I won't say it is bad. However, just as the old saying is, everything in moderation is always a good advice. So, if you start to have heat signs, please stop taking it or at least take a break. If in doubt, please check with your local Chinese medicine practitioner.
Kaori san, I have sent the email about online course yesterday. I thought I would come here to let you know. Or you can check out about the online course here in this link chineseherbalpantry.com/herbal-holistic-health-course/
I’ve just enrolled!! I’m so excited!!💃💃💃 THANK YOU for the heads up!! I didn’t receive the email! I’ve only received only one email (the one about 11 tops) after I signed up to your website. I don’t know why🤔
@@kaoritexas8689 Kaori san, YAY!!! 🎉🎉🎉I am so so excited you are joining me! I can't wait to 'meet' you in the course! 💖💖💖 Re: the email, ummm....that's strange. I checked my record, I can see that the email about the online course has been sent out. Maybe check your spam box? Sometimes it goes in there. Maybe 'tell' your email system that it is not spam. Please email me directly (hello@chineseherbalpantry.com) if you still have trouble and I will see what I can do.
Hi @Cathy, thanks for dropping by and watching the videos 😊. Re: UTI or chronic candida remedies, as they can be more complex illnesses, you will need proper consultation from a qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner who will prescribe herbal decoction for you. Please also be monitored by your family doctor to rule out other underlying causes too. Take care!
May i ask you something else? Once i saw a very old lady probably in her 80ties of agr. We do tai chi together. And she drink chinese tea consist of few chinese herbs. When i asked her she cant explain it to me. She is very strong like twenty years old body. She been doing aerobic and yoga when she was young. She can do pull up etc. I was so amazed by her health. What tea she might drinking?🤣
@@janty962 if you think it is not strong enough, you can either add more ginger, or less water, or you can boil it for longer (such as 20-30 minutes or so). you can adjust to your own liking.
Hi @Kally, yes you can put all the four ingredients into one cup. However, both honey and the black sugar are quite sweet, please adjust appropriately. Please don't add both of them if you are diabetic though!
Hi @Random Chiroptera, it is very hard to answer your answer. This is because Chinese herbs are very individualised as in everyone is unique, therefore there is no one herb is good for digestive health for everyone. It depends on what kind of digestive symptoms you experience and how you like help. I would recommend to find a local qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner for more specific care. Thank you!
@Cook with me, if you wish to use it for mild period pain, you could drink it once or twice a day a few days before your period. If symptoms persist, please make sure you go to see your family doctor or Chinese Medicine practitioner.
Is it true that you have a special ginger tea recipe that you drink before ameal to help with digestion and weight loss? If so, then please I really need it!
@Hind, Jujube dates are 'warming', so if you wish to take it more regularly, you must watch out for 'heat signs'. So, good stuffs don't mean you have to take them everyday and long term, you need to find out if they even suitable for your body types or weather. Hope this helps.
@Leong Kwan, yeah you can drink before sleep. As long as you don't feel too warm and can't go to sleep. For some people, 'warmth' helps them to sleep. But for 'heaty' people, too warm may make them feel irritated. Just give it a try and see how it affects you! Keep me posted!
Hi @C Ryder, please check with your local qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner and also please let your OBGYN know you are taking Chinese herbs. Take care, and wishing you speed recovery from the condition.
