I know right, but at the same time I can relate to what Ginny is going through, and especially what the therapist is saying, sometimes we use the most random and unhealthy behaviors that makes us feel like we're making the pain and the situation going away, instead we're actually causing it to become a bad habit, rather than finding something positive to help us cope with the difficult moments that we experienced growing up. And honestly, I think that is what makes us all Human.🫂

There are a lot of reasons, I'll name a few from the top of my head, make sure to do your own research to know more. - Bad self image, hating yourself - feeling like you deserve it - When everything is so overwhelming you want to be in control of one thing that you feel, or just generally feeling in control - Feeling so numb and wanting to feel something -etc.

People do it for a couple of different reasons like sometimes people feel like they deserve it and they’re punishing themselves or sometimes people do it because if your hurting physically it can distract you for emotional pain

Many reasons. Control, an emotional outlet, to turn pain they can't put into words into something that isn't abstract, to punish themselves, etc. It depends on person to person. It's best to research about it.
