Holly suggests macaroni cheese could be like a carbonara if ham was in it...so Gino says if his grandmother had wheels she would be a bike! This causes Phil and Holly to laugh hysterically! lol. Broadcast 18th May 2010.
I don't think he was offended, I think he was stunned. I wish we could watch this show on replay in the US. I love the light hearted humor. We need this!
@@joangibb7480 we have great humor on Australian and new zealand shows, especially breakfast shows. Look up sam wallace penis cloud😆😆😆, just one of many great laughs where I nearly spat out my morning coffee
And the look on Ginos face like you've offended his ancestors to the tenth generation ... that line though... remember winding it back because I was sure I hadn't heard him correctly ...
+Sarblade it's funny because it's not a saying in english, it's just out of the blue, sounds like a randomly chosen phrase to us. That's obvious though right?
He broke into one Celeb'shome I googled him it was back when he was a stupid kid he is in his 40s now married with kids and has a career people change if Paul Young and whoever else he may have robbed forgave we all can he did not harm anyone people change they mature
Uknow whot uknow is.... uknow..whet i hones- uknow. It doesn’t make sense whot u said..is a different recipe..is gota nothing to do witha macaronni n cheese..uknow wha-.........
Something about the translation, plus his delivery, plus how accurate it is - makes it hilarious. The combo multiplier is the hosts dying too, knowing full well Gino is offended, but the phrase was just too good not to laugh.
In British English it's funny because Bike is British slang for slut. He basically called his grandmother a slut and they is why the Brits are balling laughing.
I love Gino's expressions. I often say, "If my granny had balls, she'd have been my grandfather" which is exactly what he was aiming for, but the bike reference can be taken the other way - which it was - making it absolutely hysterical!
I am italian and I understand his reaction. We don't fool around when it comes to food. Food is sacred. Remember it, next time you talk to an italian! xD
Of course he is! He's a chef and to suggest anything would be sacrilege! Could you imagine the reaction if you said "Pass the ketchup please"? Lol! Love Phil and Holly.
Over 12 years old and still freakin' hilarious.... I'm just another lowly American, so I didn't know anything about this show until maybe a year or two ago.... but there are so many hilarious clips of these two here on RU-vid (just speaking of the main hosts) and when Gino is there it's almost guaranteed to be funny at some point!!
He is saying "if my grandmother had wheels, she would been a bike". In Italy is a pretty common saying, the most used is: "If my grandmother had wheels, she would be a wheelbarrow". "Se mia nonna avesse le ruote, sarebbe una carriola". There is also: "If my grandfather had 7 balls, he would be a flipper".
None of which matters in the minds if the people in the video who found his comment incredibly funny. Innuendo is what they are laughing at, it just wasn't intended to be funny from Ginos perspective. Not sure why so many commenters dont seem to grasp the idea that two different nations can interpret something that is said differently because a word or phrase has a different meaning in each country.
SoniTuX336 not sure if any of yall is bein ironic but we do have in Turkish something along the lines of ‘if my aunt had balls she would’ve been my uncle’ used in a similar way
Whether or not Gino meant it to be rude it doesn't matter, he might well have just been making a straight statement that you can't compare the two things. However in the UK, and probably elsewhere I expect, saying someone would be a bike if you put wheels on them might suggest they get ridden a lot anyway. At least coming from a culture where the humor is steeped in double entendres that's likely what you'd take away from it hence Holly and Phil's laughter. Gino isn't so daft that he isn't aware of this, you only need to watch him on celebrity juice to see how filthy his humour is, so I expect it was said deliberately.
Hilarious. Gino did not say his grandmother was a bike! Most people seem to be missing the point. He could have said if she had a steering wheel she could have been a car! His point was that his pasta dish was one thing - if it had different ingredients it could obviously be something else!
• Riftis • My point was he knew he was pointing out the obvious and was pointing it out to the people who had missed the point. Did you read his comment?
Yes. I quote - "Most people seem to be missing the point." Clearly then, he didn't think it was obvious to most people. I think it was, making his whole comment redundant.
Im revisiting this clip and... it really is soooo funny and perfect, the way she starts off, there is a mischievous sparkle in her eye, she knows she is venturing into dangerous territory and the way Gino looks at her when she starts talking, he knows too, he's looking at her like, "you better watch what you're about to say..." SO FUNNY
Gino shows some peak discipline here. You can see he's offended, but he's going to wait. He's going to wait and think about his comeback. And it comes out GOLDEN. XD
In Italy we use often expression like that when other say non sense things or unrelated comments to what we are doing. It's just using a non sense, impossible affermation like: if I had wheels I..., if I had wings I..., if i'd be a bird etc... to underline that they said some shit
Most adults in the UK will have heard the expression "she was the village bicycle" meaning she had been ridden by many men in the village. Calling someone a bike in the UK is very clearly referring to this. Gino may not know this expression but he does have a habit of using English slang terms in a kind of innocent way which makes them even more hilarious.
You can see his soul leaves his body for a brief moment when she actually sugestet put ham in it. I was honestly surprised he did respond in english and not some italian words not to use in tv. 😅😂😂😂😂
If macaroni and cheese had ham in it it wouldn't make it a carbonara. If Gino's grandma had wheels it wouldn't make her a bike. They're laughing at the way he just came out with it, there's no innuendo there
i loveeeee holly and phils reaction here its hits them as soon as he says it lol i love it laugh everytime and gino is just amazing lol such a funny hot guy lol
Gino was making an italian phrase that may or may not be meant to be funny, the hosts laughed because bike means something else in the UK. The REST of us laughed because we interpreted it as rightfully something absurd: that adding wheels on a person doesn't make them a bike and adding one ingredient to a recipe after it's prepared, doesn't change the whole dish.
also regardless of what bike means in the UK, they would've known Gino wasn't familiar with that particular usage of the term and might be laughing for the same reason the rest of us were laughing
