This hard rocking track was released as the B-side of Berlin's "Take My Breath Away". Unfortunately, the song never made it onto the Top Gun soundtrack.
So agree. Why would they have left it out?! First time actually looking it up because I can’t get those few seconds in the movie before Charlie puts the quarter in the jukebox out of my head. 🍺
@@tunerimpala5658 while i do agree the song is quite 80s and good , thematically it doesnt fit with any of the scenes in the final cut of the movie so the few seconds before the quarter drops have to suffice
For years I searched for this song. Based on the few seconds available, I thought that it sounded like Sammy Hagar 😂. Anyway today, March 11, 2024, it was finally released by La La Land Records, you’ll have to search for it but apparently Faltemeyer finally approved a special 5,000 unit release… I got one of those 5,000 🤣
This epic song deserved more than a few seconds in the original picture and it sure HAD TO BE on the soundtrack! I'm glad I enjoyed and cherished it ever since. Dang good old days! :)
I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG! I remember only hearing a tiny portion of this song in Top Gun! But this is my first time hearing the song in its entirety! And its fantastic!
I remember owning the B side single to Berlin's take my breath away. Or my mom and brother owning the B side single. Too bad I can't find the song on Google play. But I do also remember downloading this song.
Giorgio Moroder wrote quite a few songs for Top Gun including Danger Zone and Take my breath away. I was always curious about this song so glad I found it!
Very Jim Steinman/Meatloaf-ish. That wailing sax just sets the tone. Never released on CD or cassette. If you have a 45 of this song, keep it clean! Or sell it to me! LOL
Finally picked up the Top Gun expanded version last week after meaning to for years (thanks TGM)...and this song wasn't on there! Bigger letdown than getting taken out by Jester before taking out Viper. :(
Why was this only a B-Side? Its better than half the songs on the actual soundtrack. And that's saying something because the soundtrack itself is great.
It was written by Moroder & Whitlock like 4 other tracks in the film, most likely there just wasn't a place for it in the film after editing was done. Besides Moroder, they invited plenty of bands to write songs for different scenes, and they picked the ones they thought worked best in the film. It wasn't a "pay us and you get a song in the film", it was "who writes the best song gets to be in the film". If bands or their lawyers got difficult, they got kicked off the film, like happened with Toto.
@@GT4viper my god the highs and lows ....some docu i saw said that the some of the songs on the soundtrack was structured to have high notes to stand out against the low woosh and middle roar of jet engines during flight scenes
@@GT4viper Had a DJ biz back then with equipment designed by real sound engineers. A simple stand alone component DVD player and 200 watts going into Technics 3 way speakers with 15 in Woofers. So much music back then that fit the system. I recently did some comparison shopping and I think JBL still has real sound engineers. Digital was fine back then until China and the marketing people took over and had to add "features" at every step before it even got to the amp. Now even the speakers want to tweak the sound.
