Highlights from the Royal Artillery Barracks as Croatia's Giovanni Cernogoraz wins the men's trap shooting gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games (6 August 2012).
Italy's Massimo Fabbrizi won silver in the event with Kuwait's Fehaid Aldeehani winning the event's bronze medal.
From just five shooting events at the inaugural 1896 Olympic Games to today there are 15 events in the Olympic programme, divided into three different groups: rifle, pistol and shotgun. The rifle and pistol competitions are held on shooting ranges, where marksmen aim at targets at distances of 10, 25 and 50 metres. In the shotgun event, competitors shoot at clay targets propelled at a series of different directions and angles.

These people are professional gun handlers. They know what they're doing. Gun ranges have rules like you describe because they have to accommodate range-Ranger clowns who really ought not to be given charge of a rubber-band gun, let alone real firearm.

How do these countries that dont allow personal possession of a firearm even really compete? Unless they are military/law enforcement I dont know how people train can train.

You'd be surprised that many countries aren't as strict as most people think but here in America we do have more gun rights than most. Italians are allowed to own guns if they obtain a purchase authorization, Brits obtain a shotgun or rifle certificate after their local police run a background check and visit the citizens home to see if they can store and lock up their guns with a gun safe. In England, anybody who can own a firearm can purchase a suppressor without any hassle; they view it as ear protection for hunters and noise reduction for the community. Several other European countries also allow ownership of suppressors. Here in the U.S. only certain states allow ownership of suppressors and you must pay a $200 tax stamp, do the class 3 paperwork, and wait several months. Here they are viewed as a malicious item to most people.

here on croatia we have 1 million firearms and we only have 4 million citizens, do the math, we had war before 20 years, our homicide rate is 1.2 and we consider it big

Some of these teams actually can't legally practice in their own countries. IIRC, The British Team practices in France

They dont muzzle sweep anyone...they put the gun in reload mode after each shot...plus it doesnt matter anyway....theres only 1 round in the gun per turn...so once thats gone..the most they can do is dry-fire..which they obviously wont do..as they don't wish to damage the gun.
