But he stands head and shoulders above the other Italian composers of his generation. A pupil of the Neapolitan School, he had a supreme gift for melody, allied with a highly individual style and idiom that foreshadow Haydn and Beethoven. Giovanny, you are a blessing to humanity, any and every generation, you are not gold plated, you are 24-caret gold. How have I missed you, a classical Music lover since the age of ten! At 82-years, you are part of my life every day, an absolut gem of a composer! Music lover's, give the MAN a go!
My mother introduced me to classical music as a baby. You may think that unremarkable, but for an infant on the south side of Chicago (U.S.A) it was rather unique. Classical music, especially that of the classical period, has become my melodic passion. I thank God for my mother. She was a truly wonderful human being, my best friend, and I miss her terribly. Listening to compositions, such as these by Paisiello, make me think of her.
Incredibilmente snobbato dopo l'unità d'Italia è conosciuto e apprezzato più all'estero. Evviva Paisiello evviva il Sud.
My best friend is an Italian and one of my favourite Composer is Giovanni Paisiello! These are 5 gems of amazing piano Concertos!! The pianist is really good!
I hear late Baroque, I hear Mozart in these works but it matters not what we call things! Paisiello offers us some lovely music that without RU-vid many of us wouldn't even know existed. My collection of music includes numerous examples of operas, symphonies, concertos previously unheard or known about for more than 50 years, that are now part of my regular viewing and listening. In the Covid era, I feel lucky to "go" to a concert any time I like and with a glass of wine or other suitable refreshment, and do so for free! Long live the enjoyment from music seemingly in nobody's repertoire.
I think i hear mozarts minuet .mozart likely copied paisiello.i know it wasnt the other way around.but to uphold mozarts greatness ,they wont admit it.

Mozart's music definitely has more lyricism and dynamism, with a little less pattern-running than this does in places, i.e. repeating a pattern a bit too often. But it's very fetching in places, and I definitely thinks this deserves a greater airing. (I would not yet rank him though with the recent discovery of Zelenka, whose counterpoint is almost Bachian in its chromaticism in places and has a much richer texture of ideas...)
E Beethoven? Scarlatti? Sento Napoli; non proprio Mozart; non proprio Haydn. Tutte queste cose che sto pensando. Come potevo non aver mai sentito Paisiello prima? Sono cosi arrogante! Composizioni meravigliose!
So which chord in particular did you like? Classical composers never wrote down "chord" notation. You were not hooked on "opening chords", but on the opening *movement* in a few opening measures. Chords are invisible parts of harmony here, and you can't even tell them by ear, because chords do not tell where the movement should go.
It's crazy the number of little-known or even unknown composers, who at that time were creating superb music. Blindly I will bet that many sincere listeners would say: "hold a Mozart that I do not know". Obviously they would pass for ignorant in the eyes of purists 🐾😺
Thanks for uploading. Do you know the name of the painter of this view of the Grand Canal? I am very familiar with the painted views of Venice of the great 18th century Venetian painters. I have never seen this one.
These Piano Concertos and all 5 of them are brilliant! Such a pity that not many Orchestras and Pianists deem it fit to perform these remarkable Concertos by Paisiello.
EH, according to the initial text, it was Paisiello, who inspired Haydn and Mozart. I am not surprised The music shows a composer of extraordinary format.
Wonderful music. It almost looks like a Mozart rib. Or one would think if it could not be the other way around and that is that Mozart had not been influenced so much by the climate of Naples and the music of Paisiello and then recreated it. Great original inventiveness and strong personality.
These concertos are a total delight from start to finish. It's a total mystery to me why they aren't in the standard repertoire of concert pianists aand major orchestras. Any ideas?
Thanks to RU-vid and a young Belgian singer (Marjolein Acke) today I discovered this composer. First I heard a few songs and now found the piano concerts and it is just lovely music. Guess I will start looking for more music from Giovanni Paisiello because I hope there is more like this :)
