1.The history of Chowpatty Beach as a tourist destination can be traced back to the British Raj when Mumbai (then Bombay) was developing rapidly as a trade hub. During this time, the beach became a popular spot for British officials and Indian elites to unwind and socialize.
2.Thousands of people visit the beach to immerse Ganesha idols during Ganesha Chaturthi for the visarjan (immersion) ceremony. During Dusshera, Ram-Lila is performed and an effigy of Ravana is also burnt here.
