Two songs where the guitarist came very close - "High Hopes" by Nightwish as a tribute to Pink Floyd, "Pink and Velvet" by Berlin - yes, David played the original on the album. No-one can do them all and no-one should!

Roger Waters (genius songwriter, bass and vocals) and Nick Mason (genius songwriter/drums/percussion/backing vocals). God Bless them all.... David Gilmour's wonderful voice and impeccable guitar playing in this song is total fire. If you don't get emotional and melancholy with this you are dead. I'm not sure there are words to describe how Pink Floyd makes most of us feel, but we Pink Floyd lovers understand you. I hope you keep listening to their music. It's a genre all it's own and it's timeless. Try the songs *Time* and *Hey You.* Also, their long songs are some of their best. Don't let the length of some of them keep you from checking them out. The band is named in homage to two old black blues musicians from North Carolina, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. One of the bands founding members fell in love with their raw, bluesy sound and talked the other members into naming their band: "The Pink Floyd Sound", later shortening it to just Pink Floyd and they became legends! The cerebral band of rock!

That guitar is being played by David Gilmour one of the five greatest guitarists ever to walk this planet!! Watch just about any song from this 1994 Pulse concert and it will be at least equivalent to almost any other bands Grand finale!! That wasn't even their last song for this concert! You should listen to some of their studio albums which are just as entertaining as a video because Pink Floyd paints a picture and a story in your mind with almost every one of their songs! If you'd like to see them when they were your age try their Pink Floyd 1971 "Echoes live from Pompeii" where they play in an ancient Roman amphitheatre over 2000 years old with no audience! Or try Us and Them from their 1973 Dark Side of the Moon album! One last thing about Pink Floyd try to use headphones or earbuds because their sound production is second-to-none!!! You just fell into a bottomless rabbit-hole known as Pink Floyd! Enjoyed your reaction very much and I think you will be very surprised at their music!!

If you want to see two musicians have a conversation without words, check out the final "Echoes" performance with Richard Wright & David Gilmour (original members of Pink Floyd) from 2006, shortly before Richard passed away. As already suggested, watch the version from their 1972 concert Live at Pompeii, but then check out the 2006 concert version. It is, at the same time, an amazing performance and an amazingly bittersweet moment we get to witness between two old friends--almost as they're reflecting upon their years together. Same song, but different vibe 44 years later. I can not watch it without at least a few tears.

Ah, yes, David Gilmour. One of the most expressive musicians ever to walk the earth, and a thouroughly decent man by all accounts, too. This particular performance resonates very strongly with me - not because I was there but because this was the evening my mother passed away. I am just so glad such a beautiful and powerful performance was captured that night and I always keep a recording of it close. If you want to check out another English guitarist who can make a Stratocaster speak, there's Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. The version of Tunnel of Love from the Alchemy Live video is utterly captivating if you can find it, a bittersweet tale of growing up around the fairgrounds dotted around the North of England, full of yearning for lost love and lost youth and liquid gold spilling from Mr Knopfler's bare fingers and his Schecter Strat (which is also red). A very different performance to this one but every bit as emotional and well worth anybody's time.

The lyrics “the child is gone, the dream is gone” always makes me look deep in to myself. David Gilmore’s solo at the end is probably the best live recorded guitar solo in concert history. He manages to tap into the guitar and lets the guitar create its own kind of lyrics. I actually went to The Pulse concert when it was in Sydney and I’ve been to countless concerts over the decades but the Pulse concert will always be the best concert I’ve ever been to. From start to finish which included the entire album Dark Side of the Moon played live and in order was just pure perfection. If you want to listen to more pink floyd songs and albums, listen to from start to finish The Dark Side of the moon album. It can only be listened to from start to finish because the entire album is like one long song and covers everything from life, death, grief and grieving, time and our perception of time as we get older, money and how it turns to greed and strips your soul away. I could keep on going. Another few albums that are just as great and worth listening to is The Wall, Animals, Wish you were here, and there’s another must see song that was turned into a concept music video is Echoes, Live in Pompeii. That was filmed in 1971 I think but the song was recorded and filmed at an ancient Roman arena in Pompeii with no one but just the band, sound engineers and the film crew. It gave me the sense that they were not only playing to the ghosts of Ancient Rome, but also to their gods.
@ikshields

From the moment David’s guitar sound takes over, and the stunned audience is confronted with a full-on solar eclipse occurring right in front of their eyes, we’ve entered a completely different and majestic realm of experience, unique to Pink Floyd in the world of Music. In fact, in any art form, I think the only thing of comparably transcendent power I know of is the last half-hour of Stanley Kubrick’s legendary film “2001: A Space Odyssey”, when all the inexplicable mysteries of the universe explode In front of a single surviving astronaut, and he is transformed forever into something new by it, almost like a birth. In both works of art, we leave the experience overwhelmed, mystified, shaken, flabbergasted, silenced into our thoughts, almost unable to process the emotions that flood through us. Can it get better than this? I don’t think so. 🪐👁️

Congratulations , so many interupt in particular the 2 guitar solos, but please invest in a pair of good quality headphones. lie back in a darkend room and enter the World of Pink Floyd, you will never regret it. It always pleases me to see young people openly moved by the music , this from The Wall album of 1979, go back even further, 1971 Medddle you MUST listen to Echoes, Then the alltime classic Dark Side of the Moon from 1973 this was in the top 100 charts for 14YEARS, followed by Wish You Were here in 1975 then Animals in 77, a totally different feel to this album, dark /angry. You dont just Listen to Pink Floyd you FEEL them as well, deep down in your soul ! Enjoy !!

I was a bit greedy on this one. Working in London at the time and went to 6 of the 13 nights at Earls Court. Caught them at Wembley and the London Docklands on the previous tour, and the charity gig at Knebworth. Saw them first when they were supporting Hendrix in the 60s at a small hall in Kent. But the Earls Court run was the best gigs Ive ever attended.

Pink Floyd I believe transfer there studio performance to the live stage without the need to change anything in the music or singing. They give out a soul stabbing joy as they perform each of their tracks. If you need to listen to another one have a listen to “The Great Gig In The Sky” with no expectations beforehand. Can I suggest in this case you must listen to the studio version first before any live ones. It’s imperative!! Cheers Aah Kid! Enjoy the greatest era in music from 1967 to about 1989! Good Liuck

It’s beautiful to see the younger generation appreciate the emotion this man puts into his playing. I have to leave the room every time I hear it. Brings me to tears every time. I also appreciate that you listened all the way through without interruption to get the whole experience.

Well, I think this song was written for 23 year-olds who are in that final moment of transition to nothing but adulthood (no hiding any more!). So I reckon that's why you discovered it now. Because you needed it :) I needed it 29 years ago - when I was 23! Now, I just love it. It's part of me. And I continue to love seeing how lovely young people learn to love it for the first time too. That's kind of affirming, which is a gift.

Pink Floyd is not listened, to it is felt, it absorbed its sanctuary and its divine. David Gilmour generates emotions with his guitar that few if any other musicians can. To see your tears is exactly what we all feel,. The music is from another dimension that cuts through all the BS and enters the soul. I have been listening watching and attending PF concerts for over 40 years and I am still blown away, have tears and feel goosebumps. You are not alone, we all feel it. Welcome to the music of Floyd.

It doesn’t matter how many times I hear this song I still get goosebumps. I remember buying the CD and the case having a red LED light on the edge that lit up to the beat of a normal heartbeat. Simply stunning and it makes me so happy when other people realise how good music can actually be.

No, it‘s not crazy. That‘s how David Gilmore speaks or sings through this guitar. Nobody else can do it like him. Some people even say, that the second solo of comfortably numb as played on the Pulse Tour is the best guitar solo ever played on this planet! And the whole performance is still great 30 years later, because it was so ahead of time when it was pulled off. They had a computerized light show in 1994, when this had been unheard of before. If you liked this, also watch „high hopes“ from the same concert!

You are not crazy at all. Pink Floyd hits everyone differently and the take home is usually WOW. I always listen to Pink Floyd with headphones on in a very dark room not be depressed but to have the whole Pink Floyd experience, it will be something you will want to do again. Try The Wall which is where this song come from. The Dark side of the Moon album which by the way is still being sold and Division Bell are also good albums. I like the way you don't interrupt the music and you make your comments at the end of the video. Good job. Thanks.

No rock band I have seen live indoors has come close to the sound experience of Pink Floyd. Outdoors experience is a very different experience, but the sound indoors is just a wall of sound and you really feel the emotion.

I always find this track very emotional. 14 years ago I went to a gig on the Isle of Man where a band played a superb cover version of this. I was with a very good friend, who tragically lost his life 3 days later in his first race on the Mountain Course. Every time I hear it now it takes me back to that time.

I was 10 when this was released. I have it on an actual record not a cassette tape. It brings back memories of my childhood when I would listen to records for hours. My mother used to get very upset with me because I would barricade my door and not come out for hours. She couldn't even shut off the power to make me stop as the electric breaker box was behind my bedroom door so when I locked my door noone could get to the power mains.

I had the chance to see this show two nights in a row during their visit to the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on May 23 and 24, 1994. What was astonishing at the end of this concert was the calm that reigned in the crowd as they left the stadium, as if each of them had become "Comfortably Numb". People had a look in their eyes that showed they knew they had just witnessed a unique and significant event, an unforgettable event. If I could suggest a title for a future reaction, try this other live Pink Floyd song from the 1988 concert: Pink Floyd - On the Turning Away Remastered 2019
