Destiny, thank you for addressing the topic of 50/50. As a church girl being raised different then most. I truly believe God will NOT bring me my Boaz only capable of paying 50/50. ❤

As a married woman here, i can tell you that we've been in every financial percentage possible. 50/50 ,100/0 on both ends, 75/25 etc. And thats because life happens. I had cancer at one point and my husband almost lost his life and is now disabled. That makes me the one who makes more. So that 50/50 topic is always funny to me. I say to ppl all the time do whats best for your household, dont go by what works for others

From a married perspective on the 50/50…it’s about making sure the things are being handled in your household. It not that he can only pay 50 it that marriage is a joint effort and we take care of each other so that we can grow and prosper together.

I have been married for 12 years and the biggest mistake I made was agreeing to go 50/50. I went against everything I believed and settled for this agreement. Now it's 50/50 on EVERYTHING eventhough he makes way more. I say all that to say just don't do it. Stand on what you want. ❤ Love the video Destiny!

Funny my daughter & I were talking about that today bcz my stepdaughter didn't realize, until she was about 17 that she was going on dates with her dad & me lol. She thought we were just taking her to dinner, I said no those were dates your dad was taking me on & u went lol. When we married she kept right on & when he & I had our youngest, we continued. They went everywhere with us. Only way they didn't was if it was a no kids rule or a club otherwise we hit the restaurants every Friday dressed all the way up & they were right with us lol

I’m 28 with three kids four total bc I’m raising my step daughter who’s 12. (Married 5 years now,) Babbbbbyyy your right when u say not everyone is ready for marriage in your twenties but before I was 22 (which is when I got married,) I was already in the navy I had been robbed at gun point prior I had done some college worked a bunch of different random jobs. Partying drinking doing certain drugs wasn’t fun or cute (been there done all that in high school and very early adulthood ,)😂I had already been in a few long term relationships and had had two cars (not at the same time,) I was young but I already felt thirty bc I’d been through SO much bs. So you’re right do t marry in your early twenties if you haven’t done anything to build true character to bring into your marriage and you know you’re not ready to commit or have kids if your future spouse wants that. I had already traveled outside the country a few times and lived a little.

As a woman who has been married for 26 years, I cant relate to 50/50. We both know what each of us financial situation is from day one , so we put all the bills together and all the finances together and get the job done. We do don't section out things. One household, one family. Not saying this will work for everyone, this is what works for us.

Now my First Hubby (RIP) paid all the house bills because he was a homeowner paying his own bills before me and only asked me to buy and cook the food and take care of Him after we married..... ❤❤❤ I effortlessly loved his Kingly ways so I bought him clothes, house decor and planned and paid for our vacation 3 x yr.. trips.

Girl, period on the 50/50. That was always my desire. My husband and I got married at 24/25 and have been together for 10 yrs. We have both needed to do more than 50% at different times in our marriage, not just financially. It’s really a mindset. Financially speaking, the standard has always been that my husband makes enough to cover the household and we save my pay - that’s how the numbers work out, but we also have all of our money together. I encourage everyone do what works what works for them and their marriage 💕

I will say this as someone who was married at 22. NOTHING was stopped bcz I was married at that age. Travels still happened, careers were persued, whole lot of dancing, clubs, spur of the moment fun but still discovering me. What I noticed was with a few friends who already had kids, that wasn't necessarily the case. Sacrifices had to be made to accommodate a child & be a decent parent. I saw a few dreams deferred & few given up on bcz they had to do what they had to do in the moment. That's MY experience of course & I have daughters now. I'd tell them to really look at the person, the true dynamics of the relationship & what are your goals as a couple. I'd definitely recommend holding off on kids if u get married in your early 20's, I'd advise holding off a year even if over 30 but in the 20's I'd say do all of the things you'd have to sacrifice or hold off on if u had kids. Enjoy growing in your marriage with just u two bonding & talking & learning. Enjoy the impulsivity of having no kids. If u wake at 2 am & decide on a road trip, do that. I loved that part of our married life & when we were ready to settle LIFE down, we had our child. My husband was a VERY young widow & lived with her gma for a time. When I was ready for that, she moved in with us full time but we had time to be free to move & grow & when we (I) became parents, we as a couple were ready. We didn't consider marriage settling down that was a 24hour partner/friend to do whatever with & support. What slowed us down was parenting not marriage. I always speak on that bcz if u are marrying, they SHOULD be a friend with common interests. I don't mean from the friend group I mean someone u can relate to like a friend so your interests are the same. If he wins basketball tickets his first thought is to take u bcz u like it not necessarily, let me call the guys cause u are too girly. If I want a tropical vacation I don't have to gather people up, find people, make an itinerary that fits everybody & have to suffer through some stuff I don't want to do bcz we're accommodating 4 or more people vs going with him & doing exactly what I wanna do & him all jazzed up for it too. They should be a friend & don't have kids right away. U can enjoy your 20's married if u choose well but kids definitely slow it down sooner than u may want if u have them during your prime time. Again that all depends on what u want & consider fun I'm speaking from my own wants at that time. But while you're figuring that out, kids can force decisions you wouldn't have made otherwise. That's a bigger hold up, in my opinion, than a spouse

Marriage is a Rollercoaster 🎢!!!! Married 23 years. In the beginning we saved my pay and just lived off his salary. EVERYTHING!!! From groceries to vacation. Then the pandemic hit. His industry was hit. My industry was safe. With God we never missed a beat!!! Praise God. Live within your means and you don't have to worry about 50/50!!!

I hate the 50/50 question , if your married I do believe y’all came together as one at the alter and not 50/50. Put the money together and whoever is good at paying the bills , get them paid and then discuss how the remaining is saved or split for other things. I had this discussion with my boyfriend and he doesn’t believe a woman should work he wants to be the sol-provider once we are married. I read a comment on Reddit the other day and this guy was saying if a woman isn't married with children by the age of 30 she basically missed her chance and it won't happen. The exact term he used was was "wine aunt". Of course, I disagree. I just turned 30 this year and I feel great. I'm honestly happy that I didn't have children or get married earlier in life. Only now, at 30, do I feel even slightly ready for those things.

Nothing is that easy to standardize as 50/50. When partners feel to get up and go they leave u with the other 50. Sooo do not expect that u can skate with 50 or u can end up skating. Also at the beginning of a young relationship u can't tell who salary will blow up for eg ig u both start 2K per month ... then 1 of u blow up to 5K, will it still be 50... Partner up with someone with a conscience who simply knows what u can afford and when either party can do extra bill.

I completely agree with giving 50/50 in a marriage. The husband should provide for the family. Also the wife must submit to the spouse. Sometimes when a wife submits to the spouse this may affect her earning power. For example, if a woman makes money on social media then after she gets married her spouse may want to control her social media posts which may affect her earnings. Marriage is beneficial for the couple’s children. In my opinion, singles have more freedom. Have a bless day.

As a married woman, to me, each household is different, and couples should do what's best for them. But me and my husband are one and so is our money. It's not about what bill his money can handle or vice versa. We have one account and we pay our bills. Then we have our separate spending accounts. However the man is definitely responsible for making sure the household is taking care of.
