It’s worse than that- I think they had his tail removed. And since the tail helps with balance, this cat would have a harder time jumping and climbing.

@@_Iscream There are tailless cat breeds, not necessarily tail removal. That's something I've never heard of outside a degloving injury.

@@BorksmithandTheBeef Right, also tails break and Vets remove them also. Could be a vast number of reasons for the missing tail

Never understood it either. When my grandfather had to move in with my father as he was too unwell to live alone, none of us could keep his dog so we unfortunately had to bring him back to the shelter and as unfortunate as it may be, that's something that can happen. But it's a relatively simple process to do so I don't get at all why people just dump their pets like that....

Who knows? Maybe Karma was watching, and as the cat’s owners drove away, an 18-wheeler ran a red light and crushed their car.

Unfortunately it's the majority of people that treat pets as a commodity or as a social piece and abandoned when they become too much effort

There are many people like her out there... most are unsung heroes but more are always needed and appreciated.

I am so glad to hear that. I adopted one just like that about seven months ago and it’s been slow going. The trust building is incremental so it’s nice to hear that breaking through is possible.❤

I adopted a pair of siblings which were skittish kittens. 6 years later they are still a little skittish. I discovered by accident that exposing them to outdoor environment had tremendously improved their cat mojo. Think they are skittish by nature but have lovely temperaments. On the other side, is my older cat who has a Napoleon complex and a bully. Was amazed these 2 skittish newbies adores him and not at all intimated by him. 😆

SAME! It literally took a year but eventually she became a snuggle bug 💕 sadly I had to re-home her to my friends because I moved to a place where I wasn’t allowed to keep her :( but she’s still doing great!

How can anyone leave a pet behind? The most charming young dog was dumped and found my doorstep. Purebred longhaired dachshund. He's snoozing against my left hip, where he's been most of the last 8 1/2 years. Smart, loyal and fiercely protective. His instincts for reading people are proven to be spot on. He knows when I'm upset sometimes before I do. Sticks his head in my face so I have to comfort him. I am in awe of his instincts and intellect. And they threw him away! He's the BEST dog! A very, very good boy.

I did that 20 years ago - hard to believe it's been 20 years. Took in a pregnant mother cat and her kittens before winter. They stayed out in the yard during the day where they were comfortable and would go into the garage at night, crawling under its flimsy wooden door. Eventually, I let them come inside if they wanted, and one by one, they jumped on my bed to sleep with me. In winter, I woke up with all of them on my bed! During the day, I would eat out on the porch and eventually they would sit around me. Wonderful memories. All have passed on. I remember them still every day and say "hello" to them in the heavens, wherever they are. That mother cat and her 5 kittens made an incredible impact on my life. I am very blessed to have met them all and look forward to my next family of cats.
