It’s because when ur out on an emergency someone’s life could be on hold but in this case there was. So due to her dropping the saw damaging the blade causing them having to change it, all because she thought she can help even tho they told Herman to do it. Now think of this if the other fire truck wasn’t there to use their saw, think of how many minutes will go by while they are changing it and that child’s not even breathing and is frozen cold.

@@JessAnn26 exactly, like any spinal injuries from climbing in or windpipe damage from the cold temps so moving her could be more damaging to her throat. And if she’s cold pushing her up and bending her to get her out Is risky to her blood vessels. ❤️

What I find weird is that they went their with no equipment at all. Like surely you'd have bolt cutters with you. The saw seemed unessicary aswell as two firestrucks. They should have called for an ambulance and cut the lock with a bolt. Shouldn't even of needed the 'boys'

@@finnsnow2495 ambulances don’t carry that kind of equipment onboard. And they don’t get told much information through dispatch so they couldn’t have known what exactly they’d need.

@@amypreston6037 No I'm saying they should have a kit of stuff they might need in any sort of emergency. I'm sure they get these type of calls all the time so having bolt cutters and other tools like that should always be carried around. They shouldn't need to call an entire firestrucks to cut a lock. If they had the bolt cutters then they could have immedatly upon discovering the child cut the bolt then called an ambulance. I just don't understand why the two would go with literally nothing. When kids get locked in cars they don't need the fire truck to get them out even police officers then to have those tools to shatter windows just on them. If the got a call about someone potentially trapped should have brought some tools or not even bothered going.

Short answer: YES. Long explanation: It belongs to the information you have as a dispatch. You send a "normal" ladder Squad (Casey) and the special team, if you have one. The special squad may need longer, or get another, more important call. You not have them all the time in time. (So as nott every station has a high ladder truck, a special decontamination truck or other "specialists"). The motto is "Better to much as to few." And you see this case: If the squad truck wasn´t there, the rescue will cost another 3 oder 4 Minutes for the change of the saw ...

You do realize she's a candidate at this point, so her duty is to watch and learn, not go off the sidetrack to shine because she wants to stuff it to her dad. You don't throw a trainee at an office job to take care of big clients as soon as they start either, they shadow someone and learn to avoid mistakes like dropping an expensive saw and costing precious minutes that could mean the difference between life and death.

Why didn't they remove the lock in the first place? And what's with the saw? You could just have used bolt cutters. That lock wasn't anything necessary. Could have used a hammer too. Smashed the lock off no problem.

she cheated in the firefighters test, suggested someone sle get kicked out, caused dawson to fail her test and used her dads connections to stay in the firefighters program. In this clip, she also damaged the sawblade, which, if squad hadn't of been there with their saw, it would have taken a few minutes to swap out, potentially causing the girl to die, as she was very critical (hypothermic and not breathing properly)

She's a candidate, her job is to stand still, watch, and learn, not run off to shine and mess things up. She wasn't even aware the saw weights more than the training equipment, which shows she's on her very first call. It's got nothing to do with her being a woman, it's about her disobeying orders because as Kelly said "she has a massive chip on her shoulder", which happens to be her father.

The amount of feminist comments here is mind blowing... Jones messed up, she's a Candidate and it was her first call, she was supposed to stand there and watch in order to learn, not run off and disobey orders, especially when lives are on the line. That's also why the guys are being that way to her; She's a Candidate and her attitude isn't helping her case at all. They were pricks to Otis, Mills, and Dawson as well when they were candidates, it's basically tradition, but she soon finds her place amongst them once she stops being aggressively proactive and starts to actually listen. Casey even mentions that she'll make a hell of a firefighter and Boden was ready to risk his career to keep her on Truck against her father's wishes. He was also the reason she wanted to be a firefighter in the first place, so she could proof her father that she could. Anyone who keeps harping how mean the guys were to her just because she was a woman have never seen the show, don't know the gang, and merely went off these 5 minutes of footage. The team is very protective of their girls, be they paramedics or firefighters, and they have a load of respect for them too. Hermann himself, who was actively against women, shows a soft side and trains Jones and Dawson, and has a hell of a relation with Stella.

It's you, they're not treating anyone bad, that's just what they do with candidates, especially ones who think they're tough. Or have you just seen this one video and assumed that's how they roll? Should have seen what they did to Otis and Mills when they were candidates.
