The kids were definitely worse in this movie than the original, that bully girls boyfriend made John travolta look like the fonz . He was disturbing, with that air of sinisterism about him as he didn’t attend that school, like. does he come from the dark side somewhere - the dark web perhaps. This character was tougher and well cast, the movie didn’t have the innocence of 1970s teens, in the first one, you felt that they were well controlled and answerable to adults, a different world. Some parts were overdone and overplayed like too much blood that obscured Carrie’s expressions. And the romantic part between Carrie and her partner tommy

It’s bc it made her hold her breath, when you gasp you hold your breath and apparently holding your breath can help stop a panic attack, or it gave her something else to focus on such as the pain or just the shock of being slapped
