Osborn looked up at Peter with, at first, vague accusation, and then almost a sense of relief, before slumping over, the glider crashing onto the floor with him. Peter stood there, trembling, not knowing whether to laugh or cry, and settled for both." It makes me think that a part of Norman Osborn was glad that he died, being aware of his own insanity and being reliefed that the terror he was causing would finally be over.

I'm sorry, but you could not cast a comic-book villain any better than Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin. He portrays that split personality so damn well, the way he switches seamlessly from the meek-mannered Norman Osborn to the sadistic and cruel Green Goblin.
