Girls Aloud Popstars the rivals final 10 exclusive documentary the mirror 2002 pt 1 of 2 (this promo dvd was free with the mirror in 2002,filmed before Nicola Roberts made the final 10)
Can you imagine how embarrassed Pete Waterman must of have felt when One True Voice it and Girls Aloud Did. David Foster The Superstar Record Producer probably felt the same way when The US Popstars Group Eden's Crush had one Hit Record "Get Over Yourself" and then faded out. Nicole Scherzinger also was in The Pussycat Dolls but didn't make any Bank with them either.
I am from Canada and I used to watch the US & Canadian Versions of POPSTARS with My Cousin when I babysat her. These guys are living proof that a Group Made on TV can be successful. POPSTARS was the prototype for every Music Reality Show out there now. The Idol Franchise, The Voice, The "Talent" Franchise, The X Factor and any future shows. Pete felt that since so many of his "Acts" were successful in the past, One True Voice would be too. None of the Guys became successful. Kind of sad.
I hate the fact every time they saw Cheryl they said "you're beautiful". It had nothing to do with the purpose of the show, it just made Cheryl awkward at some times. Which young girl wants to hear from old men that she's beautiful when she was there to sing and dance. She is very pretty but quit saying it all the time and focus on her voice and dance skills.
Image, being able to sing at least mediocre, pick up dance steps and do loads of promo including sell products is all part of being a pop ''star''. Those record label executives and Geri told Cheryl that because they obviously felt that out of all those things, Cheryl's strongest asset in being a popstar was her image.
Simon Cowell did that alot on American Idol Series 2 when Ruben Studdard won. The Guys messed up on the performances (quite a few) but some sang well. He yelled at them and reminded them that he wasn't asking them to work in a Coal Mine.
