To all of you people complaining about the MV, let's not forget that SM delayed the comeback after some of the important files and scenes of the MV got lost and they had to re-do some stuff.
For those who did not understand the concept of the MV Mr. Mr., I found this text that explains: "Look well at the concept at first, the concept of hospital, when a patient is going to a surgery and he is drugged, which makes your vision blurry and goes unconscious, that's why the camera angle and editing are done so; to portray vision of a drugged patient. They are adhering to this concept throughout the MV. The scene in black and white is the patient last dream, that he remembers while he was unconscious in the operating room. Even at the end of mv see this blurred effect to portray the dream. Guys, watch the MV again to see if I'm right..."
That actually what i thought when i first saw it xD i study media so we always have to look at the editing and meaning of music videos ^ ^ lets go soshi!
People just need to realize that this MV was Girls' Generation's transformation from idols to artists. SM is finally letting them out of the idol shell because why? They deserve it. From the start, they've always dreamed of becoming artists and not to be named or called idols.You receive a lot of recognition for being an artist and in the international music industry, that is very hard to achieve, especially coming from an Asian country due to language barriers, etc. But, with the amount of success they've had since debut, you can only rightfully say that Girls' Generation is the most successful girl group or group in not only the K-POP industry but also outside. To have famous composers like The Underdogs to work with you for a main single, the one song representing the whole album? That is hard work and that hard work they've being doing for the past decade since before debut up 'til now, that hard work has paid off. Why do you think SM decided to have 5 different concepts for this MV? Why not just post one box one like they always do? Why spent so much money and time since November, filming a music video which will only lasts 4 minutes? Why? Because Girls' Generation deserves that. And SM Entertainment knows that. The amount of money they've brought to the company has quadrupled in the last decade or so and that's saying something for a company like SM, having already established in the industry. To earn more money than they've already had combined back before Girls' Generation debuted, that's insane. And now, they are no longer idols. They are artists. They are able to help with songs, directing the music videos, even staying up 'til 12am to discuss a smoother transition into the next track when they're having a concert the next day to make sure everything for their fans, for their company is splendid and worth that money you pay to see them. These girls or ladies, care for their fans and supporters. Why would they spend the extra time changing something at that late a night when they can just catch up on the amount of sleep they've missed. They go to the point where they don't even sleep for almost a week and they keep going. People need to remember that these ladies sacrifice so much time to make their fans feel better and to make them happy. Wanting to compose songs for their album, helping out with stage directions and music video concepts and plans. Why not just let the staff do it? Why not make them do it since it is their job? Do you think others who are labeled as 'artists' would put it the amount of extra work Girls' Generation does? No. They wouldn't give a fuck. They have their staff to do it, why not just let them do it? "I can just sit back and relax while watching all you little people doing all the work." Do you think Girls' Generation acts like that? No. Why? Because they are Girls' Generation, the 9 girls we saw in that Into The New World MV, the one that made a hit with their Gee MV, the one who appeared on David Letterman's show to perform their first ever English Maxi Single, the one who sings 4 languages. Why does so many people, SM included, care so much for Girls' Generation? It's because we all know, these 9 ladies, deserve so much more and because, they are, Girls' Generation.

Unpopular opinion but I love the song. Not because I'm a SONE but because I actually legitimately find it catchy. But I'll be the first to say that they completely failed in making this MV. It was too busy and fragmented. Hopefully there will be a dance version cuz I need me some Boys' Generation (seriously, they look amazing in those suits).
serenityq26 Well, maybe it's because I spend time on NB where everyone likes to make sure you know on every article that they do not like SNSD's new song. I like it but it's definitely not the best on the mini (I'm more partial to Europa. It reminds me of Express 999 which was the best song on IGAB album imo).
the reason i got into Kpop and GG because its different from American songs and i think SNSD is not trying to copy anyone ~~from the day they debuted they had there own style a SPECIAL ,,DIFFERENT style that made them Girls Generation
While I think they all look glamorous, I really don't understand the mv at ALL. They start off as nurses, then dance in the car park, then dress up as men, then wear fancy dresses. I really don't understand the plot >.> Also, this is the perfect dance song, I would've loved if they'd kept in simple in the suits and black and white. I honestly think that was the best part of the mv......I'm a very torn Sone >.> x x x
I watched about twenty times to understand, it seems to me that they are ghosts, spirits that are around that guy, this is why of those "interferences" in the beginning of the video and the lighting is like that.
oh that's really interesting. I read that the beginning is like that because it's from the guy's point of view and obviously he's on a lot of meds or something. Although that still doesn't explain why they dress up like guys >.> x x x
i liked the mv. for me, the best mv from them. but i guess people only wanna see dance videos, and anything outside the box is dissapointing for them. oh well, you just can´t please everyone.
Melody X wait, I didnt mean what I've said earlier in a negative way. I like The boys and Run Devil Run mv even though they're in the box. I actually appreciated mr mr song more because of the mv coz now I know who's singing this part and that part. What I'm pointing out to ***** it's not the box people and even some sones are dissapointed to. It's the blurry, instagram grain effect and the lack of close up for the girls that is quite dissapointing. The effect works for some people but it doesn't for others as well. I'm still hoping sm will release a dance version tho.
Anne Cu there are enough close-ups, what are talking about? yeah it might be filmed in a different fashion, but there still are plenty of close-ups to their faces. and that "grain effect" might have been on purpose. to me, that mv seems like frankenstein kind of thing, as they´re trying to breath life to mr. and that effect might give it mysterious kind of feel. as some other person in the comment section said, they´re trying to be viewed as artists, and not as idols anymore. so they´re experimenting.
Colt Bs i agree with you in a way :) i loved the MV but that's because i know all the members of SNSD so a member having 4, 1 second close ups is okay for me and probably a lot of other fans that are very familiar with them and so they can appreciate the different and cool style of the MV :) But at the same time, this would be so hard for people that don't know SNSD and can't tell the members apart..so i can understand their frustration :)

I love your intro so much! ^^ I ABSOLUTELY love the music video, the visuals they provide is top notch and FANTASTIC! I also am IN LOVE with that suit concept they had going on... If they do a performance with those outfits, it might just be the death if me. I also really appreciated all those close-ups to their faces >o
wish they put in more of the dancing cuts in the mv!!! especially during the dance break with hyoyeon at front. oh well, guess we'll be able to see it live soon enough hejsjhsks
Just to let people know. Your not the one who works day and night on album and works day and night on other things as well giving up everything for fans. Only to get: That was awful. You guys complain when sm makes them do something and complain when they do something they like. Are you the shooter of an mv? The producer? No. Plus the effects were done on purpose to give the actual feel of nurses.
Loved the concept, but there were some strange and unnecessary shots scattered about. The transitions also felt a little cluttered. But the look is visually stunning, I just wished it would've been a little smoother. The dance as well was okay, not their best, but I would have to wait for a dance version to really see.
At first, I really didn't understand the MV. But after watching it a couple of times it makes perfect sense. Yes, the constant changes of the shots & the blurred effects are related to the fact that the patient is not feeling well. But also,@2:22, I believe that's supposed to represent double vision which can happen to someone who is sick. Also, when it goes black & white, that's said to happen when someone is losing consciousness. But towards the end, you can see that the colors are back and it even has a shiny, bright light effect which can be assumed as the patient can now see clearly. The song is also said to be about how Mr. Mr needs to get better. No matter how much he's scared of it or denies it, Mr Mr is the reason why they shine, so they urge him to get better in order for them to be true stars.
I like how at the end he was talking about how cool the Mr Mr heartbeat thing is & right at the same time the heartbeat was showing on the screen hahaha

Ayo DRE I feel you bro! Your reaction was totally similar to mine. I knew you were thinking " Damn, if they were my doctor/nurse, I'd go to the medical room every day!" On a serious note though, the MV IMHO was spectacularly well done in all respects; the immaculately designed mise-en-scène, visual & narrative concepts, shot composition & montage, monochromatic filmography and general cinematography & editing, all were great! That MJ reference, along with the touch of surrealism from the soft/shallow focus & static transitions, and those alluring retro-inspired costumes, was a nice artistic touch. Overall, a very enjoyable and well made MV.
Well I don't really understand people seriously SM finally did a kinda different MV trying to get out of the box and people say the effect look cheap. If SM had made the MV in a box people would say "Again in the box"! Personally I did like the video and the song is awesome! (Sorry for my english, BTW)

It's a new concept from SNSD,the MV has a sexy and creepy feeling. And the vocals... freaking awesome! I really loved this MV,it's already repeating on my mind.
lol that intro was cool. like a movie. you should do more of those. i was up late cause i work at night and but still didnt watch it til the morning cause i was just about to go to sleep when they dropped it. i like parts of the choreo but i think i will like it more live without all the cuts so i can see the full performance. hyoyeon was JUST beginning to kill it and they cut it ugh!

Well i think people are not satisfied of the mv or the song, because its not hiphop kinda and they are back to one kind outfits,heels etc. Lets not forget that this is originally SNSD's styldm before IGAB
As a person who is not a big SNSD fan and don't really know all the members i thought it was good song never heard and i like the beat and they all look beautiful.

This song definitely grew on me. When i heard the audio, i wasn't that impressed. Once i saw the mv, i actually enjoyed the song a lot more, it's really catchy.
I loved the video, I don't understand why ppl are complaining about the video. Sm just can't win though. They dance in boxes and ppl makes fun of them, do something out of the box and ppl complains about being disappointed that there isn't enough dancing. It's the same with shinee's dream girl last time. They dance less and ppl complains about wanting hardcore choreo from them
