nor can it build a boat designed to ride up over a wave...The straight dead line bow rise was used during the Titanic era and they found it actually cause the waves to pull the bow down into a wave....
I have a 30'er I do let people lounge on the bow, BUT I am not going fast and the lake is like glass. This is rough conditions and they really should have life jackets on.
@@user-ty4bx4kw9k I live on the shore of Lake Superior and the waves are big enough to sink freighters, ever heard of the Edmond Fitzgerald. And Lake Huron and Lake Michigan have all taken down freighters. Do a little research before commenting.
@@joedirt9600you are right about the Great Lakes…my first time seeing the shoreline in Chicago, it looked just like an ocean to me…and I have spent a lot of time along the pacific coast in California and Oregon…lots of big ships have gone down on those “lakes” up North!
This is actually a fact. The current generation is the 1st gen in God knows how long (I forget the exact time but literally 100 years plus) to have a lower average iq than the generation before them.
That captain needs to be reprimanded based on what I see here. This is dangerous as it gets. I have no words for the inept decisions he made here. If that were my daughter I'd be knocking on his door.
that happened some 15 uears ago off of Santa Cruz. A young woman was riding in/on the bow, she went through the boat prop, of course she died immediately. Her dad and fiancee were the other two in the boat.
Not their spinal cord. Their Disks, TRUST ME. I have been SUFFERING with a herniated disk for the last 15 months. Discogenic pain is one of the worst imaginable. And watching some of the nasty impacts on this boat channel, I know I’ve seen several people suffer serious back injuries, disks and maybe even as far as fractured vertebrae
If they stay in as good of shape as they are in right now, I highly doubt it. Barring catastrophic injury e.g. the terrible triad knee injury, many people's back, hip, and knee issues are weight-related until you get to ages pushing 70+. Even then it's not universal in people who stayed healthy all their life. And yes, I'm a doctor...and a 39 year old man who has stayed active and in shape my whole life and not one chronic joint problem despite decades of long distance running, weightlifting, and time spent in bumpy boats on the ocean.
@@smudgey1kenobeyEven if it’s not specifically illegal I’m sure it violates some general statute about unsafe operation or hazarding a vessel. Also, given this is a navigable waterway Federal law may also apply.
Commenting as a European qualified Yachtmaster, this is a very clear case of negligence on the part of the skipper, criminally so probably. I'm disappointed that the US Coast Guard are never to be seen here, and appear to have abandoned their statutory responsibilities and duties to keep the hosting community safe. Perhaps when someone goes overboard and is injured or killed by propellers they will issue a statement to cover their collective backsides. Much easier to investigate a fisherman in a dinghy, isn't it .......?
@@grandma460 Thank you Diana. I wonder if the more affluent sectors of American society live in a 'safe' bubble, insulated from the practical dangers and perils of boating activities. Nice house, into nice car, to nice office, with the more unpleasant aspects of life not intruding. We see far too many skippers in these videos blissfully unaware of the hazards hovering around them as a result perhaps. I'm much more concerned at the absence of the maritime authorities who are charged with public safety, and who are tied up at the dock. Tax dollars at work ...... ? Regards
@@ourfarmhouseinspainYou hit the nail on the head with the affluence delusion. Same phenomenon as those rich idiots that got turned to fish food on the death sub.
Everything is illegal where you come from. Some places have citizens who are so stupid they need to make laws for everything. These people depend on their government to tell them how to live their lives so they need laws for things that should be common sense
Apparently there's you and 25 other pedophiles in this comment section that hopefully are being investigated or atleast under surveillance for the safety of children.
Quick question... Why do all the commenters call the boat skipper a 'captain'? Being a 'Captain' is a qualification, not a title of a person driving a boat. Unless they have been through proper, certified training and are qualified 'Captains', they shouldn't be afforded that title.
If this boat has no control here- imagine being launched into these waters with no life jacket to at least keep you afloat. Hopefully you will be rescued in time, this can be the vacation you will never forget.
Then they'll sue the boat company for inadequate padding. I thought it was illegal to ride on the bow of a boat underway? Maybe not all states are the same. If you love your children, put a life jacket on them and seat them behind you.
Well, it’s actually true. You have much more control on two feet than you do sitting flat on your ass. Your knees are slightly bent, and absorbing the shock of the hard landings, and your stance is bladed in the direction of the forces that would otherwise toss you around if you were just sitting as a dead lump on the deck. That’s exactly how you need to brace yourself for heavy seas. Riding unsecured on the bow in these conditions however (standing or sitting) is ignorance.
Not sure on American laws but in Australia Children aged under 12 must wear a lifejacket: on all vessels up to 4.8m long at all times and in open areas of all vessels up to 8m long when the vessel is underway. Over 12 and they just have to have lifejackets on board but don't need to be worn.
I was driving a little rental boat around the point of jersey...as i came north again i was flat out 20 nots...i went with the waves over a sand bar we dropped 6 feet straight to smash 6 in a row no one got tossed but we all looked like what the bleep 6 foot drops flat bottom didnt see nothing because the waves were going the same way...seatbelts yall..that boat needs a bow steer front end for deep large ocean waves my friend has 21 foot center console that is made to stay up thats a fancy looking boat but not designed for that kind of wave attack ...try a lake
