Well, inside of all buildings we have air conditioner and they always make sure that it is the coldest temperature possible. So if you are going into a building, you better bring your winter coat.

Charleston and Savannah are both incredible places. So much history still in tact. The corporations haven’t taken over in some places.... yet.

Savannah is even nicer imo. Although the politics of the region is 🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️ it is lovely to visit the South. I lived there for a large portion of my adult life.

Josie, I was crying with laughter when you walked down the street exclaiming what type of pie you like ( I can still hear your voice in my head) and part way through this little clip, we see a guy standing behind a car and all of sudden his head does a 180 to track your voice!!! 😂 You are so funny, even more so when you are with friends - I would love to see more of this on your channel. 😍😍😍

I enjoyed this video very much. I notice some other black Americans commenting on the video and history. My mom and father's ancestors were also from Southern states. My moms people particularly were very proud people. They loved being from the south. I believe it's important to understand the history but also to celebrate the changes that were made. Often times we focus on the wounds and not the healing. There's much more to black American lives beyond slavery. I've yet to go to the south myself but it is definitely a trip I will be taking with my husband. I'm very glad you both enjoyed your trip and were kind enough to share it with us. ❤🌷

Yes and I don't think people outside the south realize how rich the culture is. I feel like the North race felt separated but in the South with Cajun, Creole and many other people created their own unique culture which usually isn't known or recognized. Just mostly proud poor people living with other proud poor people, it hasn't always been about the hate and racism like the media tries to betray the South as.

I'm from the south. I've lived there my whole life. It is beautiful and unique. Especially the food 😋🍗🍑 Since I am a black woman I cannot look at it without thinking about slavery, the civil rights movement, and racism. Most of the statues up are people who owned slaves and fought for the Confederates. Enjoy and take in the beauty and food but do not forget that there is trauma and suffering behind every beautiful building

Wow, wow, wow…I smiled ear to ear the whole way through this video. I live in SC - both in the upper NW tip at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and on the opposite tip - a bridge-less island, across from Hilton Heads Sea Pines lighthouse. My daughter was born in Charleston when we first moved to this state 20 years ago. I really love it here, but you made me appreciate it even more, seeing it through your eyes. Thanks so much for sharing your road trip which I enjoyed immensely, it looks like you ladies had a fabulous time. I'm American (but in the Southwest) & have never visited the states that you went to, so it was very exciting & interesting to me. I'd heard Charleston, S.C. was a very quaint & charming place, but what I saw exceeded my expectations. (loved all the pink buildings & architecture, you definitely were in your element).. Southerners are known not just for their drawl when they speak but also for their generous hospitality, which I hope you experienced. Glad you had such beautiful weather & in February no less, so you could really get out & explore. Everyone has been cooped up because of COVID the past 2 years, people weren't traveling like they normally do (myself included(, so your video was a welcome relief! It's so nice you & Josie have such a great friendship, it was refreshing to hear laughter - people being joyful. again You're making wonderful memories you'll enjoy for years to come. So glad you had a safe trip as I was concerned you might be going to one of our larger cities like New York or Chicago where the crime rate has increased significantly since they decided to defund the police. Anyway, I bet Cinderella got lots of hugs & kisses upon your return & was glad her mom was home. Again, thanks for sharing ( i'm adding Charleston to my bucket list,, that truly is a must see).

Oh my gosh everything is so beautiful!!! The “king donut” Josie had is modeled after a King Cake. King Cakes are traditionally eaten at Mardi Gras (which was right around the time of your visit). You have to go to New Orleans on your next American road trip. You would absolutely love it! The French Quarter, Jackson Square, beignets from Cafe du Monde. I’m biased being from Louisiana, but we have the best food in the South! So glad you had a lovely trip!

Oh also! Know who else refused to go to the back of the bus and fought segregation? Bayard Rustin. He was one of Martin Luther King's molst trusted advisors and he had his arrest for refusing to sit at the back of a segregated bus almost a decade before Rosa Parks. But he was *also gay.* And this sparked enough controversy that the movement was split about his involvement, despite the fact that he actually was also responsible for organizing the famous March on Selma. However detractors from the movement used his orientation as a weapon against MLK and indeed the entire civil rights movement, and the decision was made to move him into the shadows to avoid the controversy, much to his chagrin. He died in 1987 after a long and incredibly successful life in activism and organizing, and although his accomplishments are great, he still lives in relative anonymity due to the challenge of being both Black and openly, unashamedly gay at a time when both were incredibly frought and dangerous identities to occupy. Also as evidenced by the fact that he is not even named in almost any MLK documentary at all. Rest in Power to the powerhouse that was Bayard Rustin.
