Skip to 5:15 to learn about scaling!!! Excellent and very informative once you get there, and I greatly appreciate the tutorial on the finer details. Don't mean to sound negative, over 50% from start is about Rotating on a video titled & dedicated to Scale tool. Just my little critique of how a little more focus can improve your videos for the audience.
Thanks for the feedback! This was one of my earlier videos, so hopefully I have focused up a bit. Also, the scale tool is kind of garbage. If you're scaling polygons, those handles aren't going to be where your vertices are (unless you're scaling a square that has its axis on the cardinal directions like I do in the video). I have not been successful in scaling any odd shaped polygons. I do have that link in the description to the idea to make scaling polygons easier, so go kudo that up. :)
In the beginning I was naively thinking people would watch those three tools’ videos in sequence so I was answering a question from the previous video’s comments. 😄
Off topic: this will sound stupid, but how do we keep from bleeding edits into our shape-files? It is very frustrating to pull out a “new” shape-file with holes in it. (And sometimes I am wrong.) it feels like better file hygiene might be the answer, but by the days end, it’s all I can manage to slap in a shape-file and call it done.
You can always make sure it isn’t editable in the “List by editing” tab on the contents pane. There’s also an option to make layers uneditable when they are added.
