What farmer get and what an end consumer pay in urban area is very large. The middlemen between the farmer and the consumer in Urban area need to urgently corrected and it is then only that rural income will increase.
Every political party in India supports this middlemen system...in 1977 I expected Left Front Government in West Bengal would form Farmers' cooperative for marketing their products and open their shops in every market. Instead it allowed a small partner of the front to control the markets. That party was known to be middlemen's party. Even it opposed opening of Metro Cash and Carry, a wholesaler (for retailers) in WB. Now. the same middlemen system is going on in WB under another party. But now the e-commerce companies are selling groceries and vegetables in urban areas. I hope these will eliminate a large numbers of middlemen from the system.
India is a country of middlemen, traders. No interest in innovation or creation. Just print invoices and pocket the extortionary profits. People with cash wins it all. No wonder so many people are against less-cash economy. My point is middlemen are here to stay. Another point is disproportionate focus and importance to corporate sector and financial sectors. The real-economy is agriculture, manufacturing, housing and infra. These create assets which in turn create further wealth in a cascading effect. The financial institutions merely slosh without really creating assets (other than NOA) or wealth.
@@muraliranga Business people many but Mr Bajaj and Hindujas are vocal about bureaucrats being aggressive and even harassing business people. No doubt , there should be no harassment but at the same time even Mr Hindujas brother admitted in an interview on ET Now that it takes time for culture to change. Business class in India for decades is used to doing business offline with Government knowing nothing much about their turnover and profit. But , now things have changed and should change even further. Business should be transparent and honesty should prevail, otherwise why anybody would invest ( investor in share market - domestic and international). There is a culture to take loan and not return. There is a culture to hide money from the Government and income tax department. There is a culture to bribe politicians and bureaucrats and do what ever you want ( NANAGA NACH)
Anchors need to complement intelligence of the interviewee. These questions are more for Sambit Patra, and not a stellar IMF chief ! Asking India vs China, seriously :)
Economics is all about sentiments ; psychologically "Creative Goal" 5T economy deals with it. Double of Farmer income is one of right step in that direction.Stable Govt can achieve it.
Simple maths.. 10 to 12 percent GDP needs to grow.. She right there. Over ambitious strategy. She's talking of banking system resolution for Npa that been put. However still a basic question why so many npa. It simply means consumption and purchasing power needs to increase so not just putting a system for npa....increase consumption
Omg!! Gita gopinath ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️she is my favorite. Hope I could Meet her once in my life time. She is cute too. I too want to b successful professional like her. N I dnt get one point in our country, ppl simply follow stupid actress, actors n politicians. There r more better ppl like Gita gopinath to follow n b inspired.
Brother its india ... People don't study here ...they just brag at the talanted people like gita gopinath , Raghuram Rajan , Abhijeet banerjee . They are not respected in our country rather they are respected in the talanted driven country 🤪
@@avananand1614 seriously yar. Even though I support the present government on various issues n right wingers. I feel irritated wen such economist n other personalities r attacked on basis of ideology n stuffs. Primarily, dey r Indians first, den come their mastery over the subject or field in which they r working. This needs to b respected. Now factually speaking whatever their views on Indian economy was all turns to b true because v r facing it. People n the government needs to accept such facts n work for it. N stop blaming games.
Yes i do agree. We can retain these talanted people in India as their talants are not recognised by our government just like Raghuram Rajan Abhijeet banerjee Gita Gopinath and many other people who would have given tremendous success. But we people want mandir rather than Schools colleges and fee hike instead of free education . Indian in not in good forecast that's why these people move away for their interest taking countries.
The Banks arent pasing the lower rates to the consumers because? The Banks get a better return on paper inflated by the mechanisms by which the lower rates are obtained? Hence no more EQ but it would be much better to devalue the paper by printning more paper via domestic government wage inflation? Min wage or basic income? I just guess local investors wont allow it.. and its outside IMFs juristiction, or could IMF provide a SDR account for every Human with equal income if it wanted to..
When the bulk of fiscal investments infused into the economy which can change the structure of the country, we can experience short run structural unemployment ,disappeared in the long run, which mostly not ocuured in the developed economies, apart from this cyclical unemployment common to all. for eg due to mechanization of agriculture ,some people loose their jobs in the short run, in the long run they will be familiar with the usage of new innovations and technogy, then they will get employment.
Problem of India, unique to us, is the implementation machinery of the policy. Policy changes of Modi Govt. have been fantastic and very positive, but the implementation has been screwed up terribly!, the problem lies with the corruption & inefficiency lead Babudom, lead by a control freak, corruption prone top Bureaucracy. This is one area which needs drastic improvement and reforms which Modi has failed to do, though he has taken many initiatives like compulsory retirement of known corrupt Babus, but has failed to put fear of God into them as Indira Gandhi did during Emergency. Danda is the only language that the Babus understand, nothing else will suffice. Technology is a good alternative, but that too can be sabotaged by wily bureaucrats, Hence a Big Danda is the only way.
How much ever increase in farm productivity, the farmer never really benefits from it as the markets are driven by traders. And you know how that works. Besides higher productivity requires higher investments for the farmer. It is better for the farmer to focus on lower cost production and lower risk than pander to higher productivity which only benefits the trader, the food processors, retailers, consumer and the govt., all of who don't give a damn about the farmer as seen in the last 40 years. In fact low productivity will generate better prices for farmers due to demand supply price increase.
No one talks about inequality of income and wide gap in wealth distribution. Rich is getting richer and poor is becoming more poor. Slowdown is better than high growth. All media and rich people are shouting about slowdown because higher growth means rich becomes more richer so it is foul cry on slowdown.
Seems partially ok but she is hiding the threats related to Indian economy not disclosing the known facts anddd figures, that's what I feel not discussing as bold as Mr. Raghuram
I hope the chaiwala in our country takes a note of what she says. Instead of bhasan baji if the 56" chest man focusses on action oriented approach it would help India. Surgical strikes, Ram Mandir and now CAB , NRC would only keep the public attention off the real issues plaging growth. High time we rise as a nation and take charge.
The government has used the massive mandate for religious gains and to increase its vote bank, instead of attending to the economic slow down and also to bring economic reforms which you have quoted. With the outlook focused on religion, economy is left orphan. Gita's words will never be viewed and she may even be called as an unwanted foreigner, whereas the government needs primitive ways to attend to the issues.
Our economy. Brother She is IMF chief economist . She looks forward to highly regulated and highly rule following countries. Govt just changes laws for JIO and making hell for the other companies to compete and you ask him to ask silly questions . Lol
India will be a 5T economy by 2027 period!!!! Just don't listen to these economica fools and believe in the young and productive Indian people. Most of her assessments of the immediate future of India in the past some years have been wrong!
Kya tum "Deshdrohi" ho. Bro people want Mandir rather that schools and colleges . Our govt should stand for free education but instead they are increasing the fee. How will india grow. Changing the govt will impact a little as 125 MP are just from other parties who were in power before this govt and still in power with this govt .So how will you change the govt .
@@avananand1614 india needs a new party with full of ias and educated people no body wants to vote bjp or congress . we still have 4 years and you will see us tasting our first recession soon bro. and bjp will be like sab changa h or nehru ji ki galti h. you cannot really confront bjp for their wrong doings.
she has been a joke in assessing and forecasting the future. This is what these 'ECONOMICS SCIENTISTS' do. If someone really wants to get a perspective of the future of India, please bring Dr. Manmohan Singh on board.
You don't need to be an economist to know condition of Indian economy. Just take a stroll around your village or town. Modi is NOT focussed on the economy. He is the pettiest of the politicians India has ever seen.
Amazing listening to her views BUT WHY THIS ACCENT? I am in US since a decade now and the " put on" accent by Desi's (who did college in India) is really a lame thing! Be ORIGINAL please.
She has been in the US for a much longer period. She is not as young as you may be assuming. Also she has to interact a lot with a much more diverse group of people on a daily basis. You tend to lose your home country accents pretty quickly under those circumstances. It is natural. She does not have to 'put on' anything for anybody.
@@jaiku99 I agree with your premise but not with the conclusion though. In my line work I know of first generation people in US from Europe, Asia and Africa living for 20 years or more, mostly who came for higher education. Rarely, extremely rarely people loose the natural accent unless it is deliberate. Having said that, she is a gem!
He is better than yes minister. Please refer to figures of RBI reports of 2008 and 2014. The biggest joke going around RBI is Chitra Gupta who had came for auditing RBI mess after one day work reported to be absconding and FIR has been lodged in Mumbai Police Station.
Quite a hell sarcasm . 😂 btw for the current scenario...he is the only hope for India. Economy will come back on its pace by second quarter of 2020. But we have to see the larger picture..how can india play a major role in the world economy. Long way to go. These all are small hurdles.
