Great review. It would get more love if end users didn't present two problems. One you mentioned. Two cables must be run from the unit for great sound. One to your amp and the other to a flat response speaker like a monitor. Modeling amps with MP3 jacks are perfect for the SDRUM or other units like multifx. From the unit I run one cable to the amps input jack and another to the MP3. The drums stay natural sounding without distortion, delay or whatever other colors I add to my guitar tone. The other end user problem is unfortunately most bedroom players have poor timing. The SDRUM gives what it receives. It's a great teaching tool only if the user has time and patience. Need only drums... get this unit. Drums and looper get a Trio+ which I also own. Both get two thumbs up.

We have had some great jam sessions using this gadget and also got a great sound on our home recordings too, takes a bit of patience at the beginning but what doesn't?

They mentioned at the top that the guitar is lined out to the Supro and the SDRUM is out to Hughes-Kettner acoustic system. It has the option ports for that and they bothered to use it in their demo. Better demo than The Andertons demo, imo (though they separated, as well). These guys spend more time discussing the SDRUM instead of kicking my ass with their awesome guitar playing. Only downside is this thing won't sync with just anything (say, a synth's arpeggiator or my beloved Boss RC-300, take note, Boss, and BUILD SOMETHING COMPATIBLE LIKE THIS!)

Isn't that the idea behind the idea? DigiTech wants you to buy more of DigiTech's products that they make that does sync. That's smart and is not a down side at all.. :)

@@johnroberts5562 What was MIDI all about, then? I get your point, but to me, this limitation (if intentional) is weak sauce. Stand behind your product in the world of competition. Exclusivity is cowardice in marketing in "the modern world." Think of the sales they may have lost by keeping everything in house (again, if intentional.)

@@mykhedelic6471 I see your point as well but with that said, DigiTech has been around for a long time and I wouldn't call it cowardice for keeping their product married to itself. I believe DigiTech has many products that work well with the rest of the world.. I have the DigiTech sDrum and the JamMan and together they are awesome.. Had a MIDI for vocals in 1988 and loved it... It's true that to each their own and buy what you can afford :) And who knows, DigiTeah may be worried about the competition and buy out MIDI or vise versa? I have my eyes on the Rolland GR-55 for my next toy :)

Cool. But for what kind of guitarist is this ? If I wanted to play drums I would definitely buy a drumkit. So, to me this is completely useless bullshit. LOL.

Anybody with a bit of imagination. Practice, rehearsing/demo'ing new stuff,trying different patterns you wouldn't normally use etc. Especially useful if you don't have the space or skill to play drums. That enough for you?

Nothing for me, as I stated before. But I get your point. So for someone with a lot of time, who doesn't really know what role he wants to play and actually just floats around. This under the guise of creative guitar playing. Success playing drumms on your guitar, but I'll just stick to my ordinary guitar sound. No offence nor blame.

Will Kupers I find this extremely useful. I use the sdrum to practice rhythm and record drums on song demos. I can get good sounding drum parts very easily. It is more inspiring than a stock drum pattern and more useful than a metronome. I use the Trio + to loop rhythms and practice my lead improvising. Both tools get me practicing music rather than sterile parts very quickly.
