Leather is Expensive and takes a lot of specialty tools sometimes to get it to do what you want. EVA foam on the other hand is relatively inexpensive and if you have been following my channel for any length of time know that it takes very minimal tools to work with. So, in this Apprenti-Clip I am going to show you an amazing trick for giving your EVA foam a very LEGIT Leather look that will really impress! Let's dive in.
Let me know what Cosplay Questions you might have and I will answer them in a video on this channel!
Here are links to the items I mentioned in the video that I would recommend, if you buy any of them please use these affiliate links, it gives me a kickback at no cost to you that will help me continue to create these videos. Thanks! Cosplay On, My Friend!

Awesome. You redid the video. And you answered my question about how did I lose my leather look.

Fleather! I did this to get texture on the scales of my dragon helm, but I had already glued the scales on before I added texture. I used a mini-iron (shaped like a spade) to press the foil onto the scales. Unfortunately...it did loosen the contact cement a bit, and shrunk the scales. The cement re-adhered once it cooled, and the edges of the scales were raised slightly which actually added to the overall effect. When I do the chestpiece, though, I'm going to texture the foam *before* I run it through the Cricut to cut out the scales! (Note: If you've already primed your foam this technique will not work as well.)

This is great, I will give this a try too. Use Parchment Paper on top of the tinfoil, that should protect the iron. :)

Use a Pressing cloth so you dont damage your iron. A scrap peice of most any fabric will do. I like thin Towels

My question is this, what do you use to seal this foam? Not only for painting but for strength? I typically use plastidip but I have never tried this type of texturing before. Would you plastidip before or after? Do have any suggestions on the process? I want the end result to the be like the blue skirt on your wonder woman piece. Thank you!

You can use Plastidip just the same as you would and actually for the wonder woman skirt I didn't even seal it with Plastidip. The hight heat press seals it pretty well. But I love the look that Plastidip gives to the foam it gives it a very leathery look so that is what I have done on my Hiccup and stuff :)
