Bob Mahar I knew it was Canada. I haven't been to your town since 1984, when the Pope visited...I'm part of a cool show called Beatlestock that does a yearly show at BB KING'S in Janary. I really liked your band and it's comradery.
Larry, I looked at your site and watched the Golden Slumbers video. Such a lovely job. I smiled at the comment on your site re your band not dressing up in Beatles wigs and wearing Sgt Pepper costumes ( my paraphrase). We feel the same way ( not that we could pull it off if we wanted to!). Great band and it looks like you had fun doing it. All the best.
They are Canadian, ersatz (North) Americans, what do you expect?!! Most of 'em wouldn't know where Britain is and think England is the U.K. Given the years they were born, even Richie and John wouldn't have been old enough to actually remember anything much about Liverpool during WWII other than being hungry. The bombing of Liverpool was over by 1941 & it was never targeted by V1s or V2s, The Beatles were cap in hand Keynesian Austerity Era kids. The Duck and Cover bogeyman was a very American propaganda thematic. Vietnam was certainly on everyone's consciousness as it escalated in the late 1960s, although I'd say more on American and Australian public's whose forces were directly engaged in that theatre. It was Christmas 1972 that Nixon's Hanoi bombing campaign really sprang Vietnam into the wider awareness and consciousness on the world stage including Europe and the UK.
