It's awesome that you actually did update the description on the tire condition. I wouldn't expect many people to be so dedicated. You have a new subscriber.
and another sub here. I'm always wondering about a better product to keep my tires looking good. I use black magic tire wet spray but I'll look for this product so I can try it out. thanks
Why are you so surprised by this? It's called doing the job correctly...and many other people have followed through with dedication and commitment....i just don't know why you're so damn impressed with doing what he's supposed to do
They make a black trim version of this stuff which I am making a review for too. Honestly, I think they are both the same product but different labels and packing. Dont quote me on that. I dont know if you can see it too well in the video, but I used their plastic trim coating on the fender flares and it is pretty good as well! Only time will tell how long it lasts and that is the biggest seller for me.
It is around $13 and they have a coupon on their Facebook page for $7 off. You can get it at most major stores that sell automotive stuff (Walmart, Advance Auto, etc)
2023. Man, going back to the old videos gave me goosebumps, I remembered my hole high school and college. Chris i know, you don’t know us individually, but we do. Specially the ones who were born in the 90’s. We relate a lot. thank you very much.
The reason you have almost 7 MILLION subscribers to date is because you didn’t just tell us you were gonna put the updated in the description but you did it! True man of your word and you make the absolute best informative videos on the internet. I really hope you get your Streamy’s award!
I appreciate the work you do in helping out the DIY folks. The videos are edited well and are always easy to follow. Your information and usage of products really help us understand what's to be expected and allows us to be effective too.
I applied this to my tires from the directions on the bottle, I got one month out of the shine, began dulling after 3 weeks. I have tried every product out there that claims from 6 months to a year. A month is the longest I ever got, and that is stretching it. Those are the facts!
People don't realize Turtle Wax has been around for a very very long time it's not pricey and a great product I detail cars and trucks for a side job and I've always used Turtle Wax for different things I'm going out and buying this product today Thank you for the video
You should make a video on how to prepare for a long road trip. There are very little videos of what to check on your car and what to bring and all that good stuff. I love your videos man keep up the good work.
Massive thanks for updating monthly. Looks like the winter season took its toll on the product, so even at that it will last all summer I put tire shine on my tires all week so I will be investing in this thanks to your video and updates. Awesome and thanks man appreciate it.
Hal HansenI’ve been using this stuff for a year or longer. I saw it on this site. It’s not a wet shine, maybe because my tire isn’t molded smooth like that. But it keeps the tire extremely deep black with kind of a satin gloss. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I use it maybe 4x a year. I’ve tried quite a few products on the market and none were as simple and long lasting is this. Wear gloves. When I put it on the applicator, it can drip on your cement garage floor or driveway, I now pour it onto the applicator, overtop of the garbage can after the little squeeze nozzle clogged . Use a towel or rag to wipe off any accidently that you get on your wheel, immediately. It’ll come off 100% but if you leave there ...it’s very close to being permanent. I consider this the number one tire product in the World. And it doesn’t spin, sling off onto your car
I got it on my hands and it dried to black skin. I will keep all of the subscribers updated if my hands stay black for a year. Probably my right will turn back to pink sooner (if you know what i mean).
Using the Meguiars Endurance gel (got to this video a little late for the Turtle Wax). Works pretty well, daily driving my SS with some Goodrich tires...stays shiny for a month, but start noticing fade after a couple weeks. The deep wet look lasts for a good week. Overall, better option (slightly more work) than using spray on.
@@1000ClayHunter but not the best in your life to get back to your old lady in a while and then all you can do it will look like you have to go back and get a roid out for a few weeks and i love u and me
Armor All Extreme Tire Shine. Hands down the best tire shine product I’ve ever used. If it doesn’t rain and you don’t drive down a dirt road it last for days and days.
Chris: A misconception that I hear/see in almost every video on cleaning tires. The brown coloration you see during cleaning isn't dirt, It's oxidized urethane and plasticizer or mold release compound. Removing it exposes the undamaged urethane directly to UV, so so kind of protectant like the TW product should be applied. An less than good cleaning technique, that takes more effort, but doesnt do a good a job is using a sponge on tires. When you hear a wooshing noise as you rub down the sidewalls, they have a parallel striped grain, and you are rubbing across it. Rub with the grain to get down to the clean urethane at the bottom of those grooves. A stiff nylon brush does a better job than any sponge can.
pssst3 really late here. But 2 of my tires have this problem per se. The brown coloring looks terrible and in need to get rid of it asap. Any other tips you didn't mention in your post??
I have found that wet sandpaper is the only thing that removes the brownish tint on the white letters. I believe the tint is actually oil permeating as tires are made from oil
I use purple power degreaser. the gal is about 5 bucks and I use it full strength. don't let it dry on there and don't get it on your skin it is strong. it does a good job getting the old dirty silicone dressing off the tire. you may need multiple passes if it has been on there a long time.
Your effort to help others out safely work on their vehicles are very professional I like your positive attitude that helps people at least try to help them selves I give you a thumbs up with out watching the video until later because I have become one of your top fans your doing a great job Chris I have my daughters listen and watch your videos I'll try to send you a picture this way they will take better care of their truck!
I had a can of black magic foam tire shine, it had problem discharging the contents. I called customer service. They gave me a new can, stuff 2orks good as tore precleaner. Also include tire wax, I still have the tube as many find it hard to believe, it was not even on store shelves yet. It worked great. Nice shine, didn't attract dust. When something works they get rid of it, to keep you buying more.
Chris I'mma tell you are awesome I am a detailer and I get a lot of good ideas from you when I listen to your videos I listen to it all the way to the end thanks Chris for all your advice on detailing vehicles
CARMEN NEWTON according the the month by momth update, the product lasted well for 5 mknths which in any case is pretty impressive. I wouldnt mind applying a coat every 5 months. So what if its not a year. 10 minutes ince every 5 months is fine by me
Used 2-3 years ago when watched a video and still bought 2 more few months ago, it works great and much better than some other moneymaking product and no darn care about customers. Thanks Chris!
I watched this video and got the stuff to try. it worked real nice for the first 2 days. then it faded real fast like every other product out there. I recommend sticking with Armour All foam or spray for half the price.
Best tire cleaner is (Awesome) from your local dollar store. It beats anything out there. As for the tire shine, the tire will look good for a little wile until all of the road grime and brake dust starts sticking to it. I quit using any type of tire shine years ago. Just a cleaner with Awesome makes them black just like when new. If you have white walls or white lettering then all of the brake dust will make them dirty in a hurry with a tire shine.
+vegasfordguy ......Back in the 70s, Dunlop put out a high gloss, wet look, brush on tyre paint. lasted for ages, then a few years later, they dropped that line. One point of note, is those early 60s white rubber rings to give your car the white wall look, were ticking time bombs for a tyre blowout. The tyres I had back then were conventional cross-plies and the Good Year add on white walls, had after a time, worn a ring in the sidewalls of the tyre, just at the top of where the white wall contacts the tyre and in fact I could notice the canvas reinforcing just beginning to show. The tyre dealer said the white wall sets up a slight fluttering motion, particularly at speed, that softly "hammer" the sidewall, abrading minute amounts of rubber over time to eventually cut straight through the wall, and blam. Years later when radials were the tyre of choice and cross-plies were relegated to 6 ply for Caravans/trailers etc., white walls disappeared for awhile, then they introduced them again, suitable for radials, but were tissue paper thin. They didn't wear the sidewalls at least , but after some time they feathered their tops with tiny cuts and just looked daggy....
+David Hamilton I remember the old Tire Black paint. We also used it to paint the numbers on the roundels before a race. It came off easily- with gasoline! Ha
I use it on everything and it rocks! It's the best cleaner that I've ever used. Use it on my vehicles for heavy cleaning and decreasing, use it in my kitchen, etc.
Blessed Mother use Goo Off to remove the brake dust from the rim and wipe the tire off ....wash the rim and tire ...let dry...get some tire cleaner and spray in the tire, let it dry, spray and dry about 3-5 times to insure the cleanliness of the rubber. THEN! spray wireless tire SHINE, go over it a couple times and I can promise you that it will shine for a week even if it rains
so 6 months.. that's still a long ass time.. it does say "up to" a year and in marketing sales talk that only means it won't last more than a year.. it could last 5 minutes and you can still market it as "up to" a year..
Well yeah, the reason is obviously cause if you are a person that off roads every weekend... Compared to someome that never does.... Then the longevity will differ. I know acrylic is tough... It's a pain to get off my nails 😂 so js. 5 months is a long time for tire shine. Just take care of them. If chris only used 10% of the solution and it lasted 5 months... Guess what that bottle will last you a lil over 4 years 😆😂
I am constantly asked how I keep my tires, fenders and Jeep hard top looking new. Its so easy. I use my dirty oil and apply after every oil change. Its free and gets attention.
as much as i love his channel, there is no product on the market anywhere in the world which can keep tyres shinning for a year, the longest bive had mine for was a week and ahalf, it doesnt matter what you use it doesnt last long unless you keep spraying them which is a waist of money an pointless
@@davidbonnett2422 Try McGuires Endurance. It’s great, it dries, lasts a long time, it doesn’t collect dust or sling. It’s purple and smells like grapes. It’s really good. Not overly shiny either.
Yeah, the best most popular one is Black Magic. Detailers use that brand. I prefer to spray it on a rag, then clean out the tire shine. More even that way. The foam & go slings off if you move too soon.
Chris I just checked Amazon It looks like jet black is back on the market. The link in your video shows a discontinued product but if you search jet black it looks like it comes up again. Great video!!
I did the same but since I do city driving and it lasted for passed a year actually... I did it on a January 2017 and I only realized that it was only like 10℅ of its life last July 2018... Nice one Turtle wax
I did this and now whenever I drive my car I look like a pimp. I am constantly stopped by law enforcement and have had a number of drive by shootings when the vehicle is parked at my house. Use with caution.
+English Heart Wow! if I get stopped by the cops several times, eventually they will tell the other cops. “hey the guy with the shiny tires, Don’t stop him” this will be my trade mark. Hum, I may have to wear a bright blue shirt to let the cops know I am still in the closet.
+Lawrence M Why would you get stopped for having shiny tires? Maybe they think you got the stuff all over, even n the tread face? That would be bad; like greasing your brake pedal pad.
Problem with that is that there are too many variables. You need all season, winter, summer, truck, suv, car, comfort, sport, durability, domestic, euro, Chinese?
That brown that came of during the cleaning could possibly be the anti ozone/UV element in the rubber compound. As tires flex when driven, the anti UV material is designed to work it way to the surface and continually renew protective film. Cleaning or used of the wrong cleaners destroys this layer making the tire rubber more susceptible to UV/ozone damage. This is why relatively new tires that see little use fail with low miles, i.e. trailer and RV tires. I am curious what TW says about this. Some products like 303 state they renew or supplement the protective film. Would like for you to try the 303 and offer an opinion.
I used to work for a tire distributor, tires would brown after sitting in the shelf for long periods of time so yes it is part of the compound not from tire shine or "activated by the rotating motion" it is simply part of the chemical compound
Tried it today for the first time - not bad. I found a long bristle nylon brush did a better job than the scourer pad to scrub the tyre with the cleaner spray first up, then after hosing off, I drove around the block and the tire was dry when I got back in my driveway. Also, as someone else pointed out, one thing which isn't mentioned in the video is you need to move your car backwards or forward after applying the shine so you can get at the area where the tire was stationary on the ground. I found this move also showed up a couple of very small parts which I'd missed with the shine pad.
I live in Australia. In the 70's i worked in a car yard as a detailer. We used to spray the tyres with something similar that lasted well over a month. It was that long ago I forget the product name. but it was bought out be Selleys Automotive.
why would you get any on your brakes? you would have to be pretty incompetent. If you clean your vehicles every few days, no reason you couldnt use oil, i just think there is better products out there for the job and I dont find them too expensive.
I have used this product for a year now and it does hold its shine. I found out they discontinued this product which is to bad. Anyhow if I got any of this on my rims I used Turtle Wax bug and tar remover and it does the job. One other pro is that a little goes a long way. Thanks for your videos, they are very informative
A very THIN application of brake fluid will work wonders. Actually melds a little of the cracked rubber back together again. Truckers have been doing this for years. Repeat a very thin coat wiped on... No, more is not better... And it won't last a year. For idiots only.. do not apply on the tread. Geez, one would think you wouldn't have to say it.
+Nate Ngzcaz I'll try this right after I'm done hosing out my engine. I think I've rinsed just about all the oil out of the block, gonna add soap and let it run a few hours. People have banged thier 1st cousins for years, doesn't make it a good idea.
I've been using tranny fluid for years to restore very old rubber and plastic on very old vehicles, cars, trucks, motorcycles... hoses, vacuum lines, weatherstrip, wire insulation and channeling, bushings, etc... works great to keep your weather stripping fresh. Cleans grease and grime. I've had some jobs where just about everything was petrified. I filled a spray bottle with the tranny fluid, sprayed 'em down completely, let them sit for a day. Wallah! Once it's done it's job of making things flexible again, you can just wash it off your engine bay or motorcycle or whatever, then use whatever you normally use, Armorall and such. You must know how much some wiring harness's hoses and especially weather stripping costs new... what have you got to lose. The tranny fluid has stuff in it to expand and freshen rubber seals and remove gunk or keep it from forming, so that's why it works so good. On very old stuff it'll buy you some time before you replace what needs to be replaced. I use the high mileage stuff myself. Plain ol' rubbing alcohol works great for expanding leather. Those fancy expensive shoe expanding "formulas" all smell suspiciously like rubbing alcohol. I've never tried it on leather seats. It does work on shoes, gloves, knife sheaths...
