Being an BS4 RC390 owner I feel this new RC will be a better bike for mass audience but old one will still rule the hearts in terms of raw aggressive power and styling anyday!
Yeahh i get it i own a bs3 390 Duke it has a character which the newer ones slightly lack but thats because the character which we like are like slight flaws from the engineering standpoint and the newer ones have improved on most of those flaws i love my bike and would never sell it but If anyone else asks which one to buy I'd rather suggest the newer ktms over the old ones

First I would like to start by thanking the PD team for actually listening to the fans and lowering the BGM when the host is speaking so it is easier to understand what they are saying. The RC 390 is a monstrously fun to ride motorcycle. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the front look but I have to agree with Varun here, the bike looks absolutely beautiful from the sides and the back. The back might be my favourite thing about the motorcycle. It's so clean and the lines just fit together. The headlight could have really used some design work but I feel it comes down to maintaining the cost as that unit is also the ones used in the Duke and the Adventure so they are saving quite a bit by mass production. Other than that, the 2022 version is a complete upgrade all across the board. I am hopeful for the revised cooling by adding another fan as my RC heats up like crazy in traffic and there are even times when the system tells me to shut off the motorcycle to cool it. If the new cooling system can manage to tame the beast then that would be a significant reason to choose the RC. Let's wait for the road test now. In the Indian market the only competitor I can think of is the TVS Apache RR310, they have done everything right and won over a lot of fans. The price is going to hurt the RC here a bit. But the RC did make a lot of creature comfort changes to make it more comfortable to ride on. I honestly feel for all the effort and engineering the guys at KTM have put into the motorcycle, the price bump is justified. Can't wait for the road test now to see how it performs in the real world.
new rc390 has lost the value for money tag. Now its more like you get great equipment but you pay a fair price for it. And with all the issues that ktm 390s have, if the rc390 had any actual competition in the market it wouldnt be the clear choice (like earlier) in my opinion.
It's better now than before, no more MRF tyres, we have Metzlers tyres, tft dash, bi directional quickshifter, the overall looks I would say that is correct price for the current model rc 390, and if you think it is costly, look on the bright side even scooters has rise up, so it's better you take a walk for the rest of your life if you think it's over price.

Comparing to other 40+ bhp powered motorbikes I feel it's still the value for money bike after Dominar 400 and interceptor 650, however their segment are different; thus in short according to my small research RC 390 and Duke 390 are still value for money motorbikes.
In terms of overall package the RC 390 competes again Apache 310 & Ninja 300 .... but in terms of sheer performance, RC 390 is the one and only in Indian markets....
8:15 of course against rr310 , rr310 will be most preferable machine in this segment although Kawasaki is there but servicing is much costlier than that and also it's not available everywhere
Absolutely hated the design when I first saw it but I have to admit, it has grown over me now ! Coming from someone who has owned the previous generation !
Same thing happened when Hyundai launched new i20 and creta ....design grows slowly slowly....but rr310 is still more vfm and premium than this one....jst personal opinion 😁
04:59 is the reason why I dislike the new clip-ons. Any rider near 6 feet already has some trouble settling into the rc frame for a full tuck. Varun was barely on the rider seat. I was hoping that a bike that is supposed to be more track focussed (the entire original design was destroyed only for the sake of more aerodynamics and closer to moto3 silhoutte) then why the F*** was the clip on raised instead of adjustability in the downward direction? KTM already had two great tourers in their lineup ,the D390 and and adv 390. It really did not need a third one. The rc was supposed to be the pure supersport one. It was supposed to go more hardcore. It has sadly drifted towards the opposite side. It'll draw more customers but alienate it's fan base. The king is dead. Long live the king.
Competes with RR310 on a Race track level , but Consumer wise and price in mind , it will be in talks with people considering a bike in the 40-50 bhp range that is K'wasaki 300, 400(prolly for the rich boys only), R3(but it's a sport tourer, unless you wanna do a track convert) , Conti GT 650 , obviously it's sibling the 390 Duke too Track wise this will shatter the RR310 at tracks like MMRT , but top end is something that is lacking in this unlike the Old , badass RC390 ( 2017 model was a true king ). I'm gonna give this test ride for sure ! Feels like it's gonna be there in my garage.
It competes with Apache RR 310 Kawasaki Ninja 300 BMW G310 RR Honda CB300R Royal Enfield GT 650 And it might also compete with Ninja 400 if launched in India 😀.
How does it even compete with with the GT 650... other than price, these are completely different class of motorcycles... People looking for a fully fared performance machine in that price range will never look towards the GT 650 (even the track version, idk if they sell it with that gorgeous kit).

Performance -- -- Initially till 135-145 speed, RC 390 will have the upper hand and later at Max speed GT will take the road -- Weight of the bike matters a lot while handling the bike in cities and GT is one hell of a heavy machine 4. Even though both bikes are priced at Similar price range, GT is not providing anything other than bigger engine and the feeling of riding a cafe racer and a big bike 5. And when it comes to "What all KTM 390 RC is providing?" Answer is in the above review 6. If u still think both aren't competitors, I believe that performance of RC 390 is similar to Duke 390 ,and there is review video made by #powerdrift on Duke 390 vs 650 twin. If they ( #powerdrift) think Duke 390 is a competitor for 650 twin then RC 390 is also a competitor for 650. 7. Every bike is a competitor when they are on the track(Road).
The RC 390 competes against Apache RR 310 and Kawasaki NInja 300 (Bikes currently on sale in India) in terms of performance. In other markets, the RC faces a good challenge mainly between Yamaha R3 and also the NInja 400
Rc390 competes against the Apache rr310 for sure cause both are fully fared machines. Single cylinder bikes. Loved the ride review, can't wait to see how the rc performs on the public roads. The bike looks like a great package but the wheels don't, don't wana crack a rim of a 3.14lkh rupees exshowroon bike😂♥️
U mostly won't crack a time if u just be slightly careful and rather than braking into a pothole or a speed breaker brake earlier and slightly accelerate unloading the front suspension it will be able to absorb as much impact as it can but sometimes things get out of hand and they break but well i think it's a good trade if the unsprung mass is low and actually lower unsprung mass will help the suspension react quicker to bumps as well as the front forks have to move less weight
@@suryavalluri3894 I know all that. I have watched the Powerdrift podcast where Shumi explained all that. But still it's India, you won't see a huge bump on the next corner and when it comes suddenly, panic moments do happen and you may loose the rim for sure then. But yes it is a great update but for tracks.
In terms of price and performance, the RC 390 competes against the TVS apache RR 310. With slightly lower power figures and slightly more weight, the 310 is definitely lacking but it makes up for it in long distance comfort and it's smashing looks. In terms of hooligan energy, the KTM surely pulls ahead

Ninja 300 can't compete with with rc390. Even rr310 offers more premium parts then ninja 300. And rc390 is on another level . Even in race u won't even see taillights of rc390 when u r on ninja 300(as it has 20kmph speedoerror)
Performance and handling is undoubtedly unbeatable but look is quite polarizing, i personally don't like it. It goes against apache rr310. Let's see what tvs has come up with to stack up against this. I suggest they should increase displacement to 400-450cc and power upto 40ps atleast.

If we looks at the Price point and the specs,RC390 definitely Competing against Kawasaki ninja 300, folks who are keen on ninja will be looking at rc390 which is priced perfectly at 30k-40k less than ninja 300. This will for sure take some numbers of the Kawasaki books. What needs to be seen is BMW G 310 RR, for sure which will be priced at the same range with similar specs, but looking at BMW service/parts cost they charging, anyday it's a easy decision to go with KTM390 rc. conclusion, KTM RC 390 (2022) has no logical competition at present!!
Lovely review. I absolutely love the scene where Shumi just talks while Varun rides and talks. Also, woah, the way it changed directions was just impressive. As far as which bike does RC 390 compete against, well the list includes several bikes. If it is for track then definitely TVS Apache RTR 310 and the upcoming BMW bike that's based on the G310R. If we consider city/streets then it has its own sibling - The Duke 390 and I would also throw in a Ninja 300 into the mix considering the negligible price difference and the fact that Ninja 300 is a twin.
It clearly is pegged against ninja 300 and maybe the upcoming bmw g310rr, but the cost of ownership will be cheaper than both I guess. Since all other bikes in it’s segment are more relaxed and mainly used for touring, like the rr310 and the ninja 300, it has carved out it’s own niche. Eagerly waiting for the road test review. Also, I think it looks beautiful, but that’s subjective.
The RC 390 competes with the rr310 and the Ninja 300. Now i know that the ninja is almost a decade old and is packing many if not all features. But it's a sweet, simple, reliable bike. The twin cylinder arrangement makes it much smoother in terms of vibration and power delivery. The Achilles heel remains the price and lack of showrooms. Now the RR310 seems to be a good bike. Not as powerful but has a lot of features. And the sophisticated suspension component makes it an arguably better motorcycle for the track ("arguably"). But the sheer ignorance of the people in TVS showrooms and the overall lack of parts and questionable support ( atleast in my area) is a deal breaker for me. The showroom felt like a govt office. My choice would have to be between the Ninja 300 and the RC390. It's a very close competition but i think i would buy the RC for its tech and easier support (showrooms are much more closer and abundant)
In India, definitely the RR310 is the only noteworthy competitor in terms of spec, pricing & volumes. Btw, Shumi’s uncharacteristic “see you later” bit at the end was definitely fun to watch.
It definitely competes against Apache RR 310 BTO model in terms of tech, suspension and performance it packs as well as with Ninja 300 for the performance and color schemes! 😍
The only competitor would be the Ninja 400 soon. In terms of electronics, comfort and a crossover supersport kinda entry level bike. 49 PS to the RC's 43 PS. 2 cyl to the single Cyl. Kerb weight similar, but the price will be the Kawi's chip in the shoulder. Yam R3 (whenever it comes) will be the true competitor. And if Honda (who seem to be ticking the boxes now) will revive the CBR 300R with an RR badge for a comeback (and they might produce locally too, as the word is in the market). Existing ones like RR310 and Ninja will still play catch up. But BMW is coming up with a 310R as well, which might be delicious. And the Triumph- Bajaj collab will try pitching in a competitor for the Duke atleast, later the RC maybe.
The all new KTM RC 390 is, o god just look at the beast… muscular body, refined engined, super-moto abs, traction control, bi directional quick shifter. And worth mentioning those figures 43.5Bhp and 37Nm.. so yeah pretty much special in the segment it’s currently holding….Still on paper you can compare with Apache RR310, Kawasaki Ninja300, Honda CBR 400 (may not be the case in India), KTM Duke 390/Husqvarna (For street version), BMW 310 RR (Upcoming), Dominar 400 and Enfield 350/roadster/42 (for conventional motorcycling). Conclusion- no direct rival to take down the Kraftfahrzeuge Trunkenpolz Mattighofen Race competition 390 so far…. 🏍
The KTM RC 390 competes against a lot of bikes in its range , the list is below: 1 TVS Apache RR 310 a amazing looking bike with great performance 2 Kawasaki Ninja 300 slightly less power than the RC but much more refinement 3 Yamaha R3 if they bring the updated version to India 4 BMW 310(full name yet to be announced) upcoming in July maybe one the best direct competitor it will be better than the Apache RR 310 in terms of brand value as the BMW brand speaks for itself 5 Kawasaki Ninja 400 one of the closest competetor to the RC 390 but sadly Kawasaki used a CBU route instead of a CKD route making it very costly because in some European Nations the Ninja 400 is the direct competitor of RC 390 in terms of power and everything. (This list doesn't include Naked bike and Retro bike ) I hope I win 😁
8:13 RC390 competes against RR310 and maybe Ninja 300 ?( i personally don't think so Ninja 300 feels more like Sports Tourer .The RR310 also feels and rides like Sports Tourer but those fancy gadget like Adjustable Forks , Footpegs etc makes the bike Trackable ) In international market RC390 competes with New Yamaha R3 , Ninja 400 and CBR500R
I think its biggest competition is the newest R15 or R15M, though the displacement figures are on opposite worlds, their VVA brings performance close. RR310 is there but its displacement is way less. Ninja 400 is closer in terms of displacement, but due to its extra piston, power figures are way up, and same is with R3. And lastly there is 'home enemy" in Bajaj in the form of Dominar400, which share the same engine, but in different form and tune.
RC 390 is the fastest and most agile motorcycle in the market. I have owned one in the past and no other Motorcycle can even come close to RC in terms of performance and with the new update, it is even more challenging for other manufacturers to withstand the RC. It justifies the Race Competition tag and I completely love it.....😇😍😘
To be honest, I think the RC 390 is a 'one of its kind' machine. It simply can't be compared directly to other single-cylinder bikes in its displacement category. The only motorcycle in the indian market that comes close to giving a competition is the TVS Apache RR 310. As the new RC is a bit more touring-friendly than its predecessors, it can be compared to Yamaha YZF R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300, both of which are parallel twins with similar power figures.
KTM's RC390 was a benchmark in its segment when it was launched 2015. Its has great and unique looks that had lot of attention, the performance and the handling was on the next level, had top spec equipments and also it was a VFm purchased compared to the ninja and R3 on those days. The new RC continues with same story by offering more. It looks good its not gorgeous looking bike but its stands out. Its modern and Sharp. This new design gives the new RC a big bike feel compared to old model.then the engine performance same as before, impressive.the handling is Aslo good. What's most impressive is electronics and features like 5 inch TFT screen with Bluetooth, TC, ABS with cornering function, slipper clutch and by directional quick shifter ect. And its a practical bike than before thanks to 13.7 litter tank, comfortable pillion seat with grab handles Although it Misses adjustable suspension, but its part of the cost reduction. Overall the rc 390 is still a sweet deal even its not as value for money as before. KTM has made the good road bike with exceptional track capability and good for touring as well. unlike the old model which was more of track bike rather than road bike. Good job by KTM making their already so good RC 390 better! Can’t wait to see how it performs against the Apache 310R especially in the Road racing Championship. Heard some chatter that there’s a BMW mini S1000RR which should share the same engine of the 310, but time will tell how well these compete! RC 390 competes with Ninja 300 n Apache RR 310. As for RC 390 for track run its an excellent bike. Let's hope it stays good for city use also. Waiting for the city review. 👍👍
The RC 390 can be happily pitted against the RR310 (TVS and/or BMW) and most certainly the Ninja 300. This bike looks super impressive now and looks like it's made to outblast (that's not a typo) the competition! Will be fun to see the results in a shootout!

You've already spilled the beans, The Apache RR 310 is definitely the main competitor for the new RC 390 apart from that there is the Ninja and a certain upcoming Bavarian is also eyeing the same space ( G 310 RR or will it be called the S 310 RR in line with its family nomenclature? ).
It would be competing against : 1. TVS apache RR310 (idk what was the reason behind putting rr310 shots end of video 😂), 2. BMW G310RR (when it gets released), 3. R3(as and when it gets re-launched in India, hopefully this year) & 4. Ninja 300 (It's old/first rival in Indian market). The 300cc+ sport bike segment in India is on fire right now ❤️
The rc 390 is a straight away a challenge on the face of twin cylinder kawasaki ninja 300. One can say that these are different engines but the performance figs are same, the pricing is same (almost). The bmw g 310 rr or s 310 rr (whichever name bmw chooses 😅) can be in the same segment but that 313 cc rev inclined can never churn out 43 ps 😅
The RC 390 completes with the Kawasaki ninja 300, TVS Apache RR 310 and the upcoming BMW G310RR (Answer to your question). Would love to see these on a drag strip 😉
Having a RC390 in the stable feels great. But the purpose of which you buy the bike is important. RC is a track focused machine. Its brutal acceleration and its hard unforgiving seat will make you squeal on a daily commute.
Heya, Answering to question, the 2022 KTM RC 390 gets into a fight with two beasts. One is Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the second is TVS Apache RR 310. Though RC 390 and Apache RR 310 are closest for a competition where KTM have left Kawasaki a bit behind in the dogfight now. So the Ktm RC-390 competes with the Apache RR-310 if we consider the pricing and in terms of performance the RC-390 obviously shines over the RR-310, but it makes up for it in the riding ergonomics department. RC-390 could also compete with the Ninja 400 but that bike is not coming anytime soon and the upcoming bmw bike which is basically a RR-310 in a more fancy packaging.
