One of my favorite parts about this couple is that it isn’t like normal bl anime’s. It wasn’t love at first sight, no one pressures the other, no rape or pedophilia, it doesn’t even involve sex. They’re incredibly awkward around each other, they’re both dealing with their own baggage and ideas of who they are, and as they try to figure out themselves, they fall in love. Ugh it’s just too good
I know you are comparing banana fish when you say rape and pedofhilia ansmsksk even do I think banana fish is better in that form since they never talk about their sexuality and nothing is forced
@@sarad2099 i think they meant other animes or mangas that fetishize bl by adding in unnecessary sexual violence like that, and not it’s overall involvement if you get what i’m saying
i agree :(( its just.. a love story and i think one thats realistic for people at their age- esp with everything theyre dealing with :’) we need more animes like this
Given is one of the best anime’s out there, it’s hard to find anime’s that are so genuine. It’s not creepy, it’s not stupid, it doesn’t fetishize them. it’s just a story of genuine love, two boys figuring out who they are and learning to deal with the past together. And on top of that, the music slaps. I have yet to find an anime as good since watching it
@@joeraytabarez7127 yessss i watched banana fish a few days ago and i’m still in tears. it’s another great anime, a bit like given, and i would hiiiiiighly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine, non-fetishized, not-stupid mlm relationship in anime
Yuki will always have a special place in Mafuyu's heart. I remember coming across a comment in TikTok about someone saying that Mafuyu shouldn't have get together with Uenoyama, practically blaming Mafuyu for Yuki's suicide. And there were many others as well agreeing on that comment, adding more harsh words. When I watched the first few episodes, I already have a clue that Mafuyu lost someone but it hit harder when it was revealed that Yuki committed suicide. Why people are blaming Mafuyu for Yuki's death shocks and angers me. I mean it was hinted throughout Mafuyu's flashbacks that Yuki is already having suicidal thoughts and on the verge of giving up. While others may think that Mafuyu is the one who pushed Yuki to suicide, I thought that Mafuyu was actually the reason Yuki was able to live for so long. Yuki was going to do it sooner or later, even if he didn't have that fight with Mafuyu. I think he's just finding reasons to convince himself that he's finally going to commit suicide. Though he's a fictional character, Yuki exist in real life too. And I genuinely hope that those who have the same situation like him sees a reason to stay and live. But in Given, Yuki is already dead. While that hurts so much, those who are still alive must live on. The love Mafuyu has for Uenoyama right now isn't as strong as he felt with Yuki but it doesn't mean it will stay like that forever. Mafuyu can't be lonely and broken for the rest of his life. That is not what Yuki would've have wanted and that is not what Mafuyu deserves. I know it's a fictional series but reading comments that says "Mafuyu and Yuki are better together", if said in real life to real people whose in the same situation, would totally broke them. Imagine finding happiness and people kept reminding you not to move on. Mafuyu can't stay in that dark place forever and Uenoyama deserves love too. - End of Rant -
Not gonna lie this is one of the things I like. They really are not stereotypes or the typical "shy, cute guy who falls I love with the dominant super jealous guy" type of Anime. Or the "these only dated girls before and now they are gay" type of Anime. It feels somewhat realistic like it was written by someone from the inside of the community
I loved seeing their relationship grow, it was wholesome and sad at the same time. This amv is wonderful. I love this adorable couple. (( Yuki will not be forgotten tho ))
Yuki will never be forgotten. 😔 It was such a wonderful (and heartbreaking) build up to Mafuyu's emotions. Learning his story made me appreciate more him opening up to Ritsuka. 💙
Ok, first things first, they are adorable! BUT, am I the only one who cringes when he sings the part: La la la?! Edit: I want everyone to know i'm not saying the la la la part isn't beautiful! It is! And it's an important part of the story! So thank you to everyone in the comments!
SAME!! I watched Banana Fish all in one night, watched Yuri on Ice in between (randomly made me cry), then watched Given. I literally had a week of animes that made me cry 💀
@@sherrykhnn I had to sleep off the pain and now I've decided to read the manga 💀 I literally have to take up to an hour long of a break because it's all making me cry so hard 😫
My mom: "why are you crying." Me:... My mom: "did your friend leave you?" Me:... My mom: "you can tell me." Me: "YUKIS DEAD MAFUYU LIKEHSUDVUSHSHSHSU AAHHHH"
@@acciaaz9553 i liked mafuyu and uenoyama better tbh, in the clips yuki and mafuyu where shown together mafuyu didnt seem as happy as when he was with uenoyama haha
in episode 10, uenoyama mentioned how guitar strings are similar to our hearts; so in a way, he did fix/change mafuyu's strings - not just literally but metaphorically. i think it's a brilliant analogy and i like how it all started with that.
“I think the heart is similar to these strings. When the pain is too much to bear and you can’t breathe, it hurts, like the strings laid across your chest are about to snap. It’s just like when you keep strumming and picking at the strings at their very limit, and sometimes they snap. Sometimes you feel like they can’t ever be replaced. But if there were someone to replace your strings for you, like this… I feel like your wounds may heal just a little.” - Ritsuka Uenoyama
You guys crack me up with all the "lalala" comments. 😆 Ritsuka hearing Mafuyu's voice is what made him want to write a song for him. It's quite significant in their relationship. This video is about their relationship development so the "lalala" part is staying. 🤣 Edit: Also please stop asking for the songs. It's all in the description. Takes one click. ❤️ Check out my new Mafuyu's story video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DKjTA4i_Sxg.html 😊
Mafuyu's song is the best song I have ever heard. I listen to this song over and over again. I was really addicted to this song. When I heard Mafuyu singing, I felt feelings that I had never felt before. I think I became obsessed with this song.
I didn't actually cry during this anime because when I watched it I weren't able to cry as easily but if I watched it now, (and im talking about if I didn't know what it was about) I would probably cry.
Honestly I feel like Mafuyu sometimes.. like when he said he has a hard time expressing himself and all that. I can’t cry (sometimes I can tho), and I’m mostly just meh all the time. So I didn’t cry when I watched it either..
I'm so happy that Mafu is slowly moving on from his loss of his loved one, Yuki... And that Ue is there for him. This is not just a simple kind of love-story, you think it is, whether it is about ships or not. This has a deeper message for us to learn and understand.
@@leighsanchez8816 okay but I don't think Banana fish's genre should be just limited to bl..because there's more to that.More than bl,it highlights other aspects.Honestly saying,Banana fish hurt me physically and I was disturbed for some time but whoever haven't watched it should already watch it,that's a great anime and also we can talk about how much we cried;). Is free really a bl?Actually,I'm not so sure but If it is then, way to go Haru×Rin♡. And Yuri on Ice is so sweet♡.
The song they performed was filled with so much emotion. I just love it 😍. It was also very heart breaking to see all the memories flooding back into his mind. It's terrible how much pain was left, but its very beautiful how the song was a grateful goodbye. It's as if his ex will always be in his memory as someone he once loved. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
given is such a beautiful anime and these two have such an amazing arc to their friendship/relationship. just an amazing band anime really, however there's more to it than just music. the song fuyu no hanashi will never stop being painfully beautiful the more i hear it. a heartbreaking piece but perfect as though you feel the need to scream your tears through lyric.
Yuki and Mafuyu's relationship with a rare gorgeous dream relationship come true. they were genuinely happy with each other. but Ritsuka and mafuyu was a silly comfortable one where they could be theirselves with each without judgement and laugh happily. both were two different relations and both were incredibly amazing.
One of my favorite BL anime of all time!! I literally cried over this it was so beautiful and emotional!! Kind of tugs at your heartstrings like Your Lie in April!
I love this anime because it is just so wholesome, and Sato and Uenoyama both have baggage but they work together to not only understand but care for each other, they are so awkward together but that just comes with the territory of a new relationship, especially in high school! 10/10 anime I love it, it makes me want to cry.
This has got to be one of the best anime I’ve ever watched in my life, and it hits too close to me so an episode didn’t go by without me crying my eyes out,it’s such a beautiful story filled with love, happiness and sadness all at the same time and it’s written perfectly,I can’t describe the love I have for this anime and how much it helped me
If something is lost, there will be something else instead, just choose the right path you will get happiness. And Uenoyama is the right path that Mafuyu chose. ❤❤❤
A long journey, from despairing loneliness, DEATH, to joyful happiness and LOVE, a story of happiness and sadness with "pain" with "healing". Go on living well Mafuyu, you have found the man of your life.
I don’t understand why people say that yuri on ice does a really good at LGBTQI representation when there is literally given that goes into depth of the building of a relationship and figuring out what the different feelings mean and grieving. (No hate on yuri on ice I love that anime)
This is such a good anime/manga. This couple is such a wonderful one. When I read or watch their story I feel so many emotions. I feel sadness and pain, but love too. It’s like a chaotic silence. They have some type of mutual love that you don’t see often. I have no regrets watching and reading this.
@@dcrkiysm yeah sorry about that😅they said that just so that I could get into it, cuz they think I just watch yaoi and bl. I watch lots of anime that doesn't include them and they were just at the same level of bl. But even given isn't a yaoi, I still loved it.
When i watched this i really thought that they're so cute , Mafuyu and Ue are just so pure and soft Then i start thinking , there are actually people that are against to this , people that are disgusted with this , that find it gross They are just two persons falling in love , why is that so disgusting? It makes me so sad that in real life people would be judjing them and attacking them , rechazing them I hate my freaking brain I JUST WANTED TO WATCHED A CUTE VIDEO OF MAFUYU AND UE'S LOVE STORY- And i end it up crying
You ever want scroll through the comment section and see the exact same thing you wanted to comment and think “dammit some else has the same stupid humor as me dang”
I remember when I first started watching it, i didn’t expect the protagonist to be gay (I watch a small clip of it on insta and thought it was just about forming a band) but I DEADASS fell in love with the show after 3 episodes and EVEN SOBBED WHEN MAFUYU STARTED SINGING
Um dos melhores vídeos que vi até hj e que pegou realmente a essência dessa obra maravilhosa... Eu fiquei tão tocada que ainda estou chorando enquanto digito.. Obrigada fazer essa obra de arte, em nome de todo o fandom... ❤️
Mmm nah, to me the relationship between mafu and ue is the most important thing like sure its sad that yuki died but like mafuyu is happier and i think that's what's important
