That's because he's harmonizing with live vocals he prerecorded. There's also nothing wrong with that because a lot of artists who have not yet made it to the point of finding backup singers they work well with usually just record their backing vocals before the performance.

Lol I wouldn’t say he can’t sing but he is very pitchy at moments. They try to cover it up with the back ground singers in the chorus by increasing their volume. He will no doubt get better with time.
