This video is so helpful, thank you so much. I got my first bike a few weeks ago and need to store the helmet in the topbox. I could get something more affordable and smaller but after watching this video, this top box can definitely be put on bigger bikes in the future and will have all the storage I see myself needing. This definitely looks like it will last a while but I wasn't sure about spending so much on a topbox, but this video sold me, thank you!
I'd say I'll be looking at it more than riding it for the next few months the way things are going mate 🤣🤣. Looking forward to getting the new sticker 👍
Mark. This is a cracking video mate. I saw it about 4 months ago and left a comment, but it didn’t stick. Decided this is the one for me, so cheers for that mate 👍
Great review very helpful! I'm going to get one for my bandit 1250 because of its practicality grip rails etc.. Safe riding fellow biker from Ireland/N.ireland!
Thanks for posting! It was very useful to be able to see the real world size of the thing. I'm just waiting for the shipping company to deliver my Givi 58 litre case. (To fit Benelli TRK502) I think the bigger case is worth the extra money as it gives you the option to lock two helmets inside and you can rest easy when it's parked outside a place to eat, etc on a tour somewhere.
How are you liking the 58 liter box today? Are you able to filter lanes with it? If you had to do it again would you get the same size or a bit smaller?
Hi Dave. Thanks for the Sub! Yes the 58L is pretty awesome. The handlebars on your GS are wider than the Givi box. I filter all the time and I have no issues. Yes, the box is higher up than the handlebars but so are your shoulders, elbows etc. I think you wont have a problem 👍👍
I do have a few scratches on the box unfortunately, but nothing really bad. Yes the silver would show less scratches, but the silver also will tarnish slightly with bad weather, road salt etc. Its a trade off really. I had silver aluminium on all 3 of my GS's and i eventually had to get the boxes polished to get the clean look back.
Hi. To be honest, i knew about the 10kg limit on the box but never heard about the 6kg. Either way, ive put A LOT more weight in the box than 10kg, with no issues!
Would this top box dramatically change how the bike handles on highways or when leaning . I have about a 4000 mile trip coming here in the u.s I just want a top box to put essential tools for a long a long trip..
I've honestly never noticed it much on the bike, even when I've completely packed it up with kit. Obviously, as with carrying a passenger, if you get hit with a side wind, there will be more surface for the wind to grab, but overall it goes fairly unnoticeable 👍
one thing im curious about is for such a large topcase, there is no handle. do you find it awkward with its large size transporting it from the bike to lets say a hotel room? most of givis luggage has handles and dont understand why not for the alum ones
I carry it using the grab rails on each side. Its quite heavy when full, so for me its a two hand operation. Im sure there are probably straps or handles you could buy off the internet that connect to the strap lugs, as there is with the touratech aluminium luggage.
Mark, hi from Russia! Interested in installing the same case on my BMW S1000XR 2019. Could you please tell me if there's shaking or vobbling at speed? How does a 200-220 km/h motorcycle behave? Thank you!
On my previous motorcycle Yamaha FZ8 stood Givi Trekker 52 ltr. + Givi D448S windscreen (+ 33cm to the original windscreen) and there was no wobbling at all, up to 235 km/h (this was its maximum) The average speed of travel on paid highways in Russia is quite bike) I would be very grateful if it would be possible to conduct some tests with this cofr Thank you!
Hey Theodore. The box is great. I've had no issues with it on the bike. It's good and secure. It's a Matt black, so if you hit it off any stones or something sharp, then yes, it will scratch. The same as the paint work on the bike really. It wouldn't turn me off buying the matching side panniers 👍
On really strong side gusts of wind, MAYBE you might feel it. And i mean maybe. Honestly, the only time you know its there is when you overload it with kit and its very heavy. But even then, you'll just get used to it.
The 58 is extremely useful and and convenient, but it's huuuge and no amount utility is going to excuse the fact that top boxes are ugly. Period. I have one an R1200GSA that it came with and it's a love/hate item. It puts a fair amount of weight being empty almost too far back. Be careful about overloading it as it already lightens the front end. Nice to have but I don't know if i would have gone for something that huge. Another note, when installing, use the Red Loctite on the fasteners. Yeah they'll be bicth to remove, but it'll be the same for the little bstrds that want to try to take it off.
Yes the box is large and fairly oversized, but it does eliminate the need for panniers on smaller trips, which means easier filtering through traffic etc.
