There's all kinds of people. In that village, the issue is opportunity. In a wealthy society, where opportunities do exist, issues are different, and it's very possible that many are poor due to laziness or bad decisions.

It all depends on the individuals. Ive seen poor beg for money and its gone within 30min on rubbish. Giving them even food they will sell it for money to throw away. But the right individuals will take the money and do something intelligent with it.

It's more complicated than that. In places that aren't protected properly by the law my biggest worry is that it gets stolen with excessive force.

This is so different from the majority of poverty in the US and Canada. My uncle is homeless. I know he's in my town somewhere, I ask ppl about him every once and a while to make sure he's alive. We've tried to help him, he lived with me for a little. He's lived with my parents, his boss, his parents, his best friend. He just disappears after a while, usually after stealing something from you. We got him a job last time and even got his boss to pay him daily instead of biweekly. (If you paid him biweekly, he'd get the lump sum, spend it all on booze and not show up to work for 3 or 4 days cause he's on a binge). We pooled a bunch of money and spent over $10k to send him to rehab, at his request. He left after 4 days. We even went so far as to get him put under a 72hr psych hold after he fell asleep with a cigarette in his mouth and burned down a halfway house with over a dozen people inside (every got out thank god). I've given up at this point, I hate to say that. If he came to me seriously wanting to get his shit together, I'd listen, but it'll never happen. Some people just don't want to be helped unfortunately

Well my grandpa when I was born in 1998 had adopted a child from Africa with unicef until he died in 2012. He was not rich and he was just a farmer from the mountainous Greece. The letters from unicef demanding money are still coming to his address and are often very rude. After a Greece unicef and other npo scandal in 2022 a list was released and all the money he gave was going to the mafia and not in the African family that died before even they received a penny.

Your not wrong because honestly I discoverd MrBeast through my siblings who were watching the same videos again and again on my mom phone so one day I sat down and watched the yacth comparaison video with them and my first reaction was : he got money to waste (yeah I'm ashamed of this) but in the end he invited his subscriber and I was like : oh nevermind I juged to fast😅😅😅 and so I decided to give it a shot and I subscribe to every channel because why not? And like two days later the notification of the video when he build 100 wells in Africa poped up and from this he got my heart (cuz I'm gabonese) so the same week-end I watched as many videos of all the channels as I could because again why not?(I bet if someone asked him why he would compare the prices of hotels room he would answer : why not😂😂?) And today I'm happy to be one of the people who contribute to his achivements by simply according 20min of my time for now (I'm a highschooler 😅) but later I sure will do more
