Strat's and Tele's you can't beat them but you can improve them but for it to make a real difference you have to be able to play as well. Fortunately for us Dave is a master at both. Keep it up Dave , you are making lockdown a breeze for me ;-) .
Maybe worth asking for photos of the body after it's stripped before settling on sunburst. You might see the wood and decide a solid colour would be best.
Hello Dave , i can't wait the final result ! for sure sunburst is a nice idea ! i love sunburst ,black ,white and fiesta red color for strat ! thanks for the video ,take care !
Great idea, one thing to consider though - mij strats in solid colors often do not have matched wood pieces under the paint, so sometimes it does not look good in transparant colors - you know, it is cheaper to make a guitar not matching the wood. Hope your strat is beautiful underneath and does not have like 4 not matched pieces
Cant wait follow this series Dave i just luv ur vids mate 👌🏻 your playing is quality i luv it when i see someone doing exactly what the should be doing 🤘🔥🎸
Hey Dave glad to see you're doing well bro rock on man do what makes you happy that's what it's all about anyhow right I've learned a lot from watching your man Keep On Keepin On much love, kawal guitar life Andrew
Those st62 are killing machines ! But, mine has (or had) a basswood body, just make sure it will look good with sunburst For the shape of the neck I've played some 61-62 that had nearly exactly the same profile
Dave you will absolutely be amazed how it feels and plays after freeing it from that terrible poly! Actually have one just like it. Mine came with factory Gotoh tuners.
Scott at SC relics makes amazing bodies. I had a reliced Strat Ash body in candy apple red that he made and it was incredible. Wish wish wish I still had it.
Bold move Dave!😮 Long way to send the guitar body can't wait to see the finished product!☺. So pleased you're keeping the pickups.. black guitars are really out of Vogue apparently shell pink and purple are all the rage!😶. Another super intro... Thanks Mr S ☺
Shredding It & Always Getting Better. Diggen it All the way in Burbank Ca Brother. Keep up the Awesomeness Mate ❤ it 😁 Ps: You'll Be Offering A Course At Cambridge Soon. 🙄😂
I hope its not a 4 or 5 piece body for a Sunburst refinish. 3 piece would be acceptable,2 piece better still. SC Relic's website has some nice guitars pictured.
Dave... Supah cool intro... I almost could hear the mute echos of a slapping Jazz Bass and a rap... Of course, those mute echos do not exist on the recording but, might fit, who knows?... Anyway, that wah could compete with the beginning of "Still raining, still dreaming"... Refinish that beauty??? Seriously??? It'll look great too, that is unquestionable (in the style of R. Gallagher or Frusciante) nevertheless, with that black color it looks, in my opinion, gorgeous... I would be playing with that guitar and with that finish, "Can you see me?" or "Like a Rolling Stone" to death... Dying to see it refinished!!!
Hi Dave did you mention you were going to put a link to the company who will relic the body in the description, I can’t seem to find it and being based Ireland myself would be really interested, thanks
Curious to see the result as weren't the MIJ STxx basswood bodies? Interested to see as I know the grain isn't reminiscent of alder/ash for in terms of going for a translucent finish. Nevertheless having had one they're well worth tarting up, great guitars.
Hi dave new to your channel mate really enjoying the content and your playing 🤘 You've actually convinced me on the harley benton tube 15 so yeah if it sucks I'll be back with a vengeance 😂 Only joking mate keep on rocking
Japan stuff is so good. Only sold my mij strat because the neck was too slim for me. Other than that great quality guitars. Nitro finish would be great too for mij stuff in my opinion.
Did I miss something, Dave? What actually is the ST 62? I noticed it had fender on the headstock, but the head didn't look the same as a strat. Is it a Squire, or a Harley Benton or something? What is this guitar in its original form?
If you're gonna do full up mods, maybe think about getting whatever Henrik Dahnage's signature Charvel has in the neck because that is most ripping blues single coil I have ever heard in my life - I've seen that thing demo'd like three times now and SOMETHING in my collection is getting a swap. I think they even make a 7 string, so I actually have an ideal candidate since the last AX7521 (I have three now) came with a bridge/lead bucker already swapped out from the original ibby V77, so if that 7 string version of Henrik's neck pickup exists, it's going in that one and I can save the other bucker as a spare V77 for the original terror twins (the two that were the pair before I got the third).
i would have thought you would take the body to crimson guitars and have done there instead of shipping it to ireland. besides ben crowe is an incredible luthier
MK1+2? Not a huge amount in all honesty. Dual concentric knobs on the effects panel. A couple of extra effects in the software. An extra set of alternate voice options on each clean/lead/crunch/brown channel button. It's substantially the same amp/cab/speaker, just minor top panel quality-of-life changes and tiny software changes. If you can get a good price on a MK1, you're not missing a lot tbh.
I'm excited to see how the guitare turns out! I would find it very difficult to go back to playing poly finished strats now that I've got one with a nitro finish. A thin nitro finish does let the body resonate more, but it also feels far superior to touch.
CBS tv network bought fender from Leo Fender in the 60s. After CBS bought fender the quality of the guitars (apparently) wasn’t as good/consistent. They also made changes to the strat like making the headstock bigger, and changing the decal on the headstock etc. This is to my knowledge anyway.
