2 years ago I stumbled upon this video while binging Focus on The Family…Just finishing my 3rd time through, I had to come back and write a comment. I almost didn’t watch it. At 22 minutes I felt the spirit tug on my heart and I ordered the book on Amazon. I finished the first fast completely exhilarated and so so FULL. I had been giving up sugar for lent for 15 years and I never walked away feeling anything and I could never understand why. Jesus has done crazy things in my life in the last two years and I can pinpoint finding this as a huge turning point in my life. If you’re reading this and feeling convicted, I hope this is your sign to go order it right now , follow instructions, and don’t give up, no matter what happens. Im rooting for you
Sugar is so addictive. Many people don't know they are addicted to it. Sugar causes many health issues physically and mentally. We need to take care of our bodies because Jesus paid high price for our bodies. We bring our bodies everywhere we go to minister people. Thank you for this program. I am going to start sugar free life again.
Fruit sugars ok, highly processed cane or beet root sugar has no nutrition. Then less processed sugar is still sweet, without being is bad for your teeth.
Sugar addiction, carb addiction. The root problem of all modern disease. I've been fasting and following a ketogenic diet for 3 years. No longer sick and fat and nearly dead. Jesus heals. And He used food to do that. And fasting.
How did you do it Ingrid? I’ve been saying to myself for ages that I want to fast. I’ve managed to get myself off of my meds, but can’t always seem to keep my diabetes under control. I thought perhaps fasting for a longer periode would help, because I’ve tried intermittent fasting. Please share😊
@@debrajessen7975 look up dr. Darren Schmidt on RU-vid. He helped me understand Keto and how he's seen diabetes and cancer be turned around, solely from this diet. I did it for a while and it helped me. I'm getting motivated to do it again. My main barrier is having 2 young kids who don't like meat, so I'll have make separate meals for myself. It really works though!
@@racheloberry8562 Thank you Rachel. It isn’t easy having young children when the adult has to look out for what they eat. I am getting my grandchildren used to that we don’t eat junk here. I have one grandchild fighting over weight and sugar addiction. I will look up the reference you listed, thank you🥰
If you give up sugar and processed foods long enough. You won’t want to go back. I have been off them for seven years. A healthy diet has helped me drop six prescription drugs I was supposed to be on for life. And lost 40 pounds to boot. I was a sugar addict most of my life as well as addictive to processed foods. It was not until I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia thatI woke up and dealt with my eating habits. Pay now or pay later is what it really comes down to for many of us.
S H So happy to hear you are eliminating the processed foods and processed sugars. It can definitely be done, although it will require strong determination and disciplined mindset. Never give up. Babe Ruth said It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up. I started out with Dr. Joel Fuhrmans eating programs on DVD. You can actually watch both of them on RU-vid for free. (Immunity Solution and 3 Steps to Incredible Health) Each One consist of six sessions. Many blessings to you on your journey.
So grateful for Wendy and the 40-day sugar fast. I am still staying away from sugar and the Lord is revealing a lot more healing that I need that I covered up with sugar. Jesus is my sweet Savior who can fill me up in whatever state I am in!
i gave up sugars and processed foods for 2 years and then just couldn't do it anymore. my addiction came roaring back. i feel so much empathy with alcoholics and drug addicts, its horrible.
This is what I’m afraid of. I’m afraid of fasting and then not truly being set free. I want to be able to be able to eat it like a normal person who can take it or heave it not like a compulsion.
@@wendydelvalle8144 The bible has to be read through the Holy Spirit in order to understand 🙏 Jesus spoke in many parables .He used them so that those who wish to hear will hear. He spoke about our faith in accordance to seeds and to be Planted in the right soil. Receiving his word and if we recieve it well. Also in John it states the word became flesh. Who is the word? JESUS . So there is more to the bible amd when we are spiritually discerned we cannot understand.
My husband and I have been fasting sugar for the 21 day fast and we have been going strong and I honestly think we could go further. I have been daily in the word and have not missed sugar one bit! I have not craved it at all!
Glad to hear this. I am one of those people who is addicted to sugar. It’s really not easy but I realize with small steps it’s possible . I hope to do this 40 day sugar fast. Thank you.
I too was a k ey latch kid and that's how it started for me and here I am at age 65 still addicted to sugar. I pray but I can't stop and I know its a problem.
I have been cutting out anything sweet apart from fruits since the beginning of the year as I didn't have any strength or energy to fast like other people I know who start the year doing vegan or other fats that seemed too harsh for me. For the first time I'm not getting headaches, feel alot less fatigued, less irritable, can think clearer and get more done without the fake sugar fix. I am now eating more veg and more balanced meals. I have spent alot more time reading and praying also. I'm starting to enjoy life more. I think I look healthier also, dark circles are disappearing...so I'm experiencing the holistic benefits of making some small sacrificial changes to my lifestyle.😄🙌
Excellent and timely. I am 55 and even though I am only 8 pounds overweight, I know I am a sugar addict. Not to sweets, but lots of sugar in my coffee and alcohool bevarages, wine, etc. Anyone has any insight on intermittent fasting (@ eat of 6 hours/fast for 17). I have been praying about my habits, as middle age health issues, memory included, prevention...
Hi yes, check out delay don’t deny by Gin Stephens or her new book Fast Feast Repeat it’s all about the clean fast. Check her fb groups alsoDr. Jason Fung the Obesity Code it’s real science
I just found out about the keto diet on a facebook video today. I didn't realize that chips, crackers, cereal, oats, noodles, potatoes, carrots, corn, green peas, and fruits all turn to high amounts of sugar when they digest. Wow so much hidden sugar not just candy, pop, cookies, and cake and sugar hidden in almost all processed foods. No wonder so many people in our country are obese and have diabetes and other health problems. I wish it wasn't so expensive to eat healthy.
Kathy Matula: Same here...you stated my feelings exactly. I'll pray for you and please pray for me. I know that through the Father Son and Holy Spirit we can do all things!
I went on a sort of salt fast. I also started walking more and was put on some blood pressure meds and my blood pressure went down. Physical as well as spiritual and mental benefits
How did you do that as far as his fault fast and congratulations and yes Jesus Is With Us just have faith he'll never leave you nor forsake you you just got to lean into him lean into the word
I can see the benefits of a 40 day sugar fast. What about on day 41? Sugar is described as a poison. Are you recommending we should continue not eating sugar after the 40 days? What about fresh fruits?
treat your temple correct :) get rid of any and all processed oils and sugars and keep way down on sugars in fruits and breads etc... do not make it a one time thing make it a lifestyle change and you will be amazed at how much better you feel both physical and mental
Yeah!! 😊 It is interesting! I did it without knowing your project😃 I thought about the same thing. Like what can I do to sacrifice something what I am really addicted...and I did chocolate, cakes and so on...I left 3 very simple cookies with coffee in the afternoon. I am goin to listen how did you do it. Jana
Got the right message I we giving up sugar carbs meat been 12 days today . Ate apples which increased my sugar levels . I’m not giving up I will seek my lord even more
@@alaskanmom2659 yes im a nutrition and fitness counselor. That is really the only way. Also i dont do potatoes and only whole grain pasta and rice. It is possible and its worth it. We were not meant to have all these dense under nutritious foods. Thats why everyone is getting sick. Whole foods as close to natural as you can. Water containing and also fiber to slow the rate that your body absorbs what you re eating its all important. Our digestive systems are the basis of our health check out dr john mcdougal ( im not sure of the spelling) diet. Forks and knives sorry its early in the am. Much love
For real! The day I started my first fast my husband suggested we have spaghetti for dinner. That was the day he learned that sugar is in very nearly everything. He was bummed.
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:22-23 King James Version
I am Martha I am addicted to sugar. I will eat brown sugar, mix granulated sugar with powder jello, eat frosting out of container. I know it makes me sick.
I have been there, Martha. For me, it took being in such pain, such crisis, I had nowhere else to go but Jesus. When I was so acutely aware of my helplessness, I was able to truly surrender it to Him, and He took my sugar craving away. It happened in the beginning of summer, so I did almost all of my grocery shopping at farmer's market, eating lots of fresh fruit and veg and pasture raised meat and eggs, and keeping me out of the checkout line until the sugar stopped calling me.
I stuggle with sugar addiction. I don't have a wait problem so for years, I couldn't t get help. Now I still have no problem with wait, but the excess auger is why I have diabetes and anxiety problems. Get help, it's important.
The shocking thing to me is that all 3 of the FOTF people kept trying to talk about a diet. The author kept saying it's about fasting sugar, for a time, to draw closer to the Lord. It could have been a better conversation had they read any part of the book, or at least the introduction.
There is a difference for the person who is coming off of alcohol, though.....they need to replace the sugars found in wine, mixed drinks, syrups, etc. as they gradually come down. ( i e. withdrawals)....for a time and later ,even many years later if they fall back into alcohol or not even that.......maybe just the system is messed up for awhile, or like some who are also diabetic and I've, they have to have a candy bar here or there so as to not pass out and be in real trouble. A dear old woman in Christ who was diabetic, that we knew (now with JESUS) went into a pharmacy , grabbed a chocolate bar, devoured it quickly, went to the cashier with the wrapper and paid for the devoured candy bar, but she had to have it that instant. THE CASHIER SAID , they are used to that happening and they get to know which ones are diabetic in a hurry. So we can't always declare something across the board, so to speak. I haven't heard this lady as yet, will get a chance later today, or read her book as yet......but thought I need to defend the helpless.
Fruit is God’s candy. I think it’s better to eat fruit than a candy bar. Our bodies can identify the fruit and it’s full of fiber, water, and nutrients. Berries are the lowest in sugar.
Alright, what happens after? People will eat double sweets for that fast and will make themselves sick. The secret is to eat and drink as for the Lord and make it a life style. Over eating, binging and indulging in food in general, both healthy and unhealthy it totally unhealthy both spiritually and physically. We need freedom in Christ but before that we as Christians must be honest and go to the root of the problem. Lets say as it is: the world does a better job in addressing the root of this issue.🙌🙌
Sugar cane farmers are going broke. Sugar is NOT BAD! Overindulgence in anything can cause problems. Birth defects and cancers have been linked to sugar substitutes. This woman needs to find another hobby horse to ride.
@@jimcastiglione7657 I'm sorry but I disagree. Sugar substitutes are far worse. Overusing anything is bad. Did you know raw sugar can be used to treat open sores? Dont believe all you read. I have SEEN.
The refinement of natural foods is one of the problems, then the manufacturers of sweet products & fast food (which contains tonnes of high fructose corn syrup etc) marketing heavily knowing that sugar is something the body craves even though too much is bad for us. Most replacement food products are worse, I.e better to eat a little butter than ‘spreads’... but some natural sweet alternatives to refined sugar I think are OK, ?? Honey, maple syrup possibly. Thankfully in the uk at least a lot of regulations to reduce sugar and salt in foods and clearer labelling is helping a little.
@@karenmkendall you're very wise. The whole sodium thing bothers me as well. Table salt is targeted but isn't truly the problem. A lot of people dont know that in a hot, damp climate they need more iodide. I learned this at my grandmother's knee. Oh well, to each his own.
I'm really bummed that diet culture had to come into this space. Eating disorders are rampant among women of all ages, men too. But especially for women, it's so unfortunate that diet culture and eating disorder mentalities are being mixed with living for Jesus. Sugar addiction is not even a thing.
@@johannaclemons9957 Christians need to expand their knowledge on these things. Do research on eating disorders and check our how the majority of them originate.
@@carolyngeneva3913 I understand. And I thank you for your kind response. To me, diet, including addictions to sugar, overeating, etc., plays a big part in our relationship with Christ. Our minds can become 'foggy' and impaired just by overeating (I'm speaking from experience). Of course, any addiction replaces Christ as most important in our lives. I feel I'm not very clear in expressing my thoughts right now, due to lack of sleep (which also affects my relationship with Christ, and there are many other things besides diet). Blessings! 🌷
It’s about so much more than eating or not eating something. This is about being a living sacrifice to Jesus and growing in your relationship with Him. You’ve totally missed the point.
She doesn't need me to come to her defense...but having fasted with her the past 4 years I am stepping out to say that you may have misheard her. Removing sugar did calm her and make her a kinder wife and mother. I encourage you to pick up a copy of her book and read her thoughts for yourself. This fast has been life changing!! ((Hugs)) from a sugar addict 💞
@@sunnyjones7331 I won't be reading it because I don't believe that any one with an eating disorder history should engaged in fasting from any food group in order to reach a better version of themselves.
