Mine didn't have that big black connector either under the faucet. It had the more standard system using a couple metal discs with set screws in the lower metal disc. Worked fine and is the same as other faucets I have installed. It definitely makes things easier to install the faucet prior to mounting the sink in the cabinet.
Bought one of these a few years ago. Not a bad product but the wood used is cheap. Some water got on the inside of door and the veneer cracked. But it's still usable. Glad I bought it instead of those plastic tubs.
I bought it for $199 from home depot and installed easily but took some time to figure out water pipe outlet.drain. let me know if any one need a help with that.
You might want to know the difference between what a hinge and a handle looks like... Also when you pulled down the sprayer at the end, the whole unit wobbled.. Looks pretty flimsy.. Also saw reviews that the plastic quick connect for the water leeks for many and the so called "stainless steel" starts to rust within 6 months.. Buyer beware!
Yeah, faucet is also a little bit wobbly when you grab it, despite being clamped down very firmly under the sink. It must have separate play in the assembly above the sink. Seems to work fine, but we'll just have to see how it does over time. The good news is that there's nothing that can't be replaced with different parts if it fails down the road.
