raw, uncuted helmetcam video of race run, with orignial sound. 10th place out of 139 racers. Average speed 68kmh, topspeed 124.9kmh Rider: Andreas Tschanz Better movie with sound will follow soon.
this was the craziest thing ive ever seen. not only did i not know you could bike on glaciers, but the way the race started. holy hell you guys go fast in this
Well done!!! That was truly amazing riding. Love how he passes a ton or riders about a third through. Just rolls on by them. Obviously he's way more comfortable with the speed than the others.
Awesome, hard to properly describe all the cool things about this. The temp., the altitude, proper athletes at the front, so much better than tin top racing (cars)... Unfortunately the craze is certainly now going to be a CRAZE. Cheers Andreas!
I took my bike out in the snow and my chain broke. So I had to walk it up a hill through wet snow. Then the snow got under the fenders so I had to carry it. It was a bad time.
It's called a Le Mans start and is a tradition in many races. It started with a type of automotive race and is still popular in cyclocross bicycle racing.
Watched a lot of mountain bike extreme video, but I see this for the first time! At this speed, the snow-covered road! It will be exciting! Where to find the best quality?
this looks so freaking fun!!!!!!! you started taking off on them around 1:30 - 2:00 .....I used to think I'd have loved to go skydiving .....compared to this? fuck that lol
I'm watching this because it was part of our Physical Geography course. We are currently learning about glaciers. This was INTENSE! Did you guys have a practice run? Thanks for sharing this video.
Incidentally, great video, the ambient sound is cool. Never descended a mountain that quickly myself, it normally takes hours! RING! RING! "Hey bro I'm down in the village, I picked-up. Where are you? We were supposed to meet half an hour ago!" "Ah I'm still up at the summit..." "Up at the summit?! Fuck's sake man, I'm getting itchy skinning-up fingers here, you'll be hours still, that's miles away!" "Nah, don't worry, I got my bike, I'll be there in ten minutes, mate." "Cool."
I'm pretty sure that would be awesome as hell and scary as hell at the same time. Especially if you were going down a glacier. Well thats another thing added to me To Do list.
THIS IS FKN AWESOME! Could you wipe out and crash? What if you put some wings on a bar that would fold out when you activated them, and they would lock into place when you get up to speed? Like handglider. Would you lift off? Could you fly? I wonder....or am I just too high? Seriously, would it work?
Yeah, you can buy snow tires for your bike :D Trust me it makes this so much easier. I tried to DH on snow with my fixed without snow tires and I was slipping everywhere.
